Man shot in Oakville, Ont., parking lot; police say attack was likely targeted
Police are searching for suspects in what they believe was a targeted attack on a man who was shot early Saturday while sitting in a vehicle outside a restaurant in Oakville. The man was parked outside Hashtag Garden Modern Kitchen and Lounge, across from the Via Rail Canada Oakville Station, around 12:25 a.m. when two men drove up, got out of their vehicle and confronted him, according to the Halton Regional Police Service Major Crime Unit. The suspects, both wearing dark clothing and face coverings, were last seen fleeing the parking lot in a late model grey Honda CR-V SUV. The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. 'Unfortunately, there is limited information available about the suspects at this time,' police said in a statement. 'It appears that the victim was specifically targeted in this incident.' Police seek suspect in seemingly random stabbing at Abbotsford bus stop
The Abbotsford Police Department provided this image of a man who is a suspect in a June 24, 2025, stabbing. Police in Abbotsford are trying to identify a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man at a bus stop Tuesday evening. Officers were called to the scene on South Fraser Way near the intersection with Gladwin Road at 6:14 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department said in a news release. 'A 20-year-old man was waiting to board a bus when he was approached from behind by an unknown male and stabbed. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment,' the statement from police said. 'The suspect fled the scene on foot.' The department released a blurry photo of the suspect, who is described as a man in his 40s standing approximately 6' tall with a 'slender build and disheveled brown hair.' The investigation thus far has not reveled any prior relationship between the victim and suspect, police noted. Anyone with information or who recognizes the suspect is urged to call the Major Crime Unit at 604-859-5225. Drivers who were in the area at the time are also being asked to review dashcam video.

Man arrested after suspected homicide on Vancouver Island
Major crime detectives on Vancouver Island have opened a homicide investigation after a man was found with fatal injuries near the coastal community of Port Renfrew. A statement from the Sooke RCMP says officers were called to a report of a man with blood on him near Pachidah Road shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday. When police arrived at the scene, they found another man 'who despite life-saving measures, was later confirmed to be deceased,' the statement said. Investigators determined the man's death was likely a homicide and contacted the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, which has taken conduct of the investigation. One man was arrested at the scene, according to police. 'Evidence collected at this stage of the investigation suggest this was an isolated incident,' Island District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé said in the statement Wednesday. 'The investigation remains ongoing and no further information can be released at this time.' Man, 41, dies after stabbing in Montreal North

Police were called at 5 a.m. to the intersection of Charleroi Street and Lacordaire Boulevard after getting a 911 call about an armed assault. When police arrived on site, the victim 'was unconscious and wounded in the upper body with a sharp object,' said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils. He was sent to hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries later in the day, Chèvrefils said Monday afternoon. Investigators from the Major Crime Unit are leading the investigation, which is still ongoing. Montreal police arrested a 40-year-old man at the scene who was expected to be questioned by officers later in the day. Police did not say whether any charges are expected to be laid. Police say the killing marks the 17th homicide of the year in Montreal.

Man facing sexual assault charges, police appealing to other potential victims
Provincial police reported on Saturday that they arrested a male suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a youth at an Orillia, Ont. business last weekend. According to Orillia OPP, officers received a call about an unknown male who committed the act at the Murphy Road business last Saturday before fleeing on foot. Police say the officers canvassed the area and identified a suspect with help from the Orillia detachment's Major Crime Unit (MCU). The suspect, a 23-year-old man from Petawawa, Ont., was arrested on Friday and charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference. The accused was held in custody pending a Saturday bail hearing. Police say they are concerned that there could be more victims in relation to the investigation and are asking anyone with more information about the incident or other related incidents to come forward. Those wishing to remain anonymous could contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or reach out to Ontario 211 for support resources. Police also remind the public that reports on sexual offences could be made at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
