25 more OFWs from Israel back in Philippines — DMW
According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), they arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on July 6.
The repatriation was part of the ongoing effort of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipinos abroad, especially amid the continuing Iran-Israel conflict.
The returning OFWs were welcomed by a whole-of-government team led by Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac.
"Nag-aalala ang Pangulo sa kalagayan ninyo, pero masaya na siya na nakauwi na kayo. At bilin niya ay mahalagang makarating ang tulong ng gobyerno sa inyo. Kaya ang hiling namin ay gamitin ng wasto ang financial assistance," Cacdac was quoted in a statement as saying.
(The President is worried about your situation, but he's happy now that you're home. He instructed us to make sure government aid reaches you. So we ask that you use the financial assistance wisely.)
The DMW, together with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) headed by Administrator PY Caunan, provided financial aid to the returnees through key programs such as the AKSYON Fund and the Emergency Repatriation Fund.
In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extended separate cash assistance.
The repatriated workers also received TESDA training vouchers for skills upgrading, medical checkups, and health referrals from the Department of Health (DOH).
Medical teams from the DOH and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) provided immediate health screenings upon arrival.
"Mabuti na lang po may financial assistance na binigay sa amin, magagamit namin ito sa pagtatayo ng maliit na negosyo," said OFW Nelizza Baldrias from Calaca, Batangas.
(It's a good thing we were given financial assistance; we can use it to start a small business.)
The 25 caregivers are part of the 39th batch of OFWs repatriated from Israel under the Marcos administration's voluntary repatriation initiative. A total of 72 Filipinos have returned from Israel since tensions flared in the region.
Since October 2023, a total of 1,405 Filipino migrant workers have been repatriated under President Marcos Jr.'s directive, as the government continues to prioritize the protection and reintegration of overseas Filipinos. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News

Tony Yang, arrested for several charges including falsification of public document
The brother of former Presidential Economic Adviser Michael Yang, Tony Yang, has been arrested based on an arrest warrant for falsification of public document, perjury, and violation for the use of aliases, according to the Pasay City Police. Tony Yang o Yang Jian Xin was arrested through the joint Operation of Pasay City Police Station led by Police Col. Joselito M. de Sesto, Pasay CPS, Police Major Remedios L. Terte, ACOPO, Police Major Allan V. Valdez, IDMS, Police Captain Rafael S. Siguan Jr., Chief SIS, and Police Captain Roque S. Villaruel Jr. Chief WSS. The warrant of arrest was issued by Hon. Eleuteria Apdian Badoles-Algodon, Presiding Judge of Supreme Court, Municipal Trial Court in Cities, 10th Judicial Region, Brach 2, Cagayan De Oro City dated November 22, 2024 with P36,000.00 recommended bail for Falsification of public document, P18,000.00 for Perjury and P30,000.00 for violation of C.A. No. 142 as amended by R.A. No. 6085 (An Act to Regulate the use of Aliases). In October 2024, the National Bureau of Investigation filed 16 complaints for falsification of public documents, perjury, and violation of the Anti-Alias Law against Yang Jian Xin or Tony Yang, brother of former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang. The complaints were filed after the NBI allegedly discovered how Yang used several of his aliases to establish and register several corporations with the Securities & Exchange Commission in Cagayan de Oro City. 'Respondent concealed his identity as a Chinese national, obtained a Filipino birth certificate, and used his Filipino name/s as incorporator of these corporations, thus committing falsification in the corporations' Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws. VP Sara to join Pinoy event in South Korea on July 27, to return to PH on SONA day
Vice President Sara Duterte announced on Wednesday that she will visit South Korea on July 27 to attend an event for the Filipino community and return to the Philippines on July 28, the day of the President's State of the Nation Address (SONA). 'There is a Filipino community event already confirmed on July 27 in South Korea. They organized it, and we were invited as the speakers,' Duterte said. 'During the SONA, I'll be traveling back to the Philippines. It's the travel date,' she added. Duterte said she accepted the invitation to the event to 'personally' express her gratitude to Filipinos in South Korea. The Vice President is currently abroad to visit her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who has been in detention at The Hague since March. The elder Duterte is facing crimes against humanity charges before the International Criminal Court in connection with the killings under his war on drugs when he was mayor of Davao City and when he was president of the Philippines.
