Wheesung, South Korean R&B singer also known as Realslow, dead at 43: Reports
South Korean R&B singer Wheesung has been found dead, according to reports. He was 43.
The body of the singer, born Choi Whee-sung, was discovered at his home in Seoul on Monday, local police confirmed to The New York Times and South Korea's Yonhap News. Authorities told the outlets there were no signs of foul play. A cause of death has not been determined, but a Seoul Gwangjin Police officer told the Times they were investigating the potential of a drug overdose.
USA TODAY has reached out to South Korean police for comment.
Wheesung, who also went by the stage name Realslow, released his first solo album, "Like A Movie," in 2002, and his second album, "It's Real," was released the following year.
He released nearly a dozen studio albums and EPs during his career and starred in musicals, including stints as Zorro in "Zorro" and as Elvis in "All Shook Up."
"Artist Wheesung has left us. He was found in cardiac arrest at his residence and was later pronounced dead," his agency, Tajoy Entertainment, told Yonhap News in a statement, adding staff were "in deep sorrow."
His death follows that of the South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, who was reportedly found dead at her home by a friend and presumed to have died by suicide. She was 24.
The friend, who was going to meet the actress, discovered her and called police, Yonhap News Agency and The Korea Times reported. Police found no foul play or note left by Kim, according to the outlets.
The South Korean star was known for her roles in movies like "A Brand New Life" and "The Man from Nowhere." She most recently appeared in the Netflix series "Bloodhounds," which debuted in 2023.

The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats. The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily. How to play Wordle To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses. You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once. Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets and Discord. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak. How to play Wordle more than once a day If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions. In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game. The singer has reportedly put his $31.5 million settlement with Braun and his former company, HYBE Corporation, on hold. As per the source, the pop icon is relying on his wife's billion-dollar Rhode deal settlement to move forward. Justin Bieber's settlement contract with Scooter Braun has a key provision, 'source' claims Justine Bieber might not settle his multimillion-dollar debt with former manager Scooter Braun and his former company, HYBE Corporation, anytime soon. A source has revealed that the singer is reportedly depending on his wife, Hailey Bieber's Rhode deal payout to clear his debt. An insider told TMZ that the pop icon will not clear his $31.5 million debt until the funds from Hailey's recent multibillion-dollar deal with e.l.f. Beauty is securely in the bank. The Rhode's sale, valued at approximately $1 billion, will likely close 'probably in a month or two.' Till then, the 'Baby' singer is ready to wait for the settlement. Although with the Rhode deal, it's the model who will get the majority of the money, Justin will get some amount too, since he is an investor in the company. As per the report, the 31-year-old singer will get $50 million cut from the sale. In May, an independent audit determined that the dad of one owes millions to Braun and his then-company HYBE due to the abrupt cancellation of his 2022 'Justice' world tour. The pop sensation was forced to cancel his tour after developing Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused facial paralysis. At the time, HYBE paid AEG $26 million to cover the costs associated with the cancelled tour. As part of their settlement, Justin has agreed to pay the South Korean entertainment company, HYBE, the full $26 million.
