941,000 users to benefit from toll hike freeze, says Nanta
The Works Ministry welcomed the announcement, which affects 10 major highways, and said the freeze would provide much-needed relief to the rakyat.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the government, through the Finance Ministry, will bear over RM500mil in compensation to the affected concessionaires to ensure the highways continue operating safely and efficiently.
'This was not an easy decision, but it was made with careful consideration and full responsibility. It proves that the voice of the people is heard and given priority in every policy implemented by the Madani government,' he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 23).
Earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the toll hike freeze as part of the government's 'Appreciation for the People' (Penghargaan Untuk Rakyat) initiative aimed at alleviating cost-of-living pressures.
The 10 affected highways are the Cheras–Kajang Highway (Grand Saga), KL–Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar), New North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB), Senai–Desaru Expressway (SDE), East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS), Duta–Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), KL–Putrajaya Expressway (MEX), and the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB).
Nanta said the move reflects the government's care and sensitivity towards the challenges faced by the people, especially those who commute daily for work.
He also reiterated his ministry's commitment to ensuring that the nation's roads and highways remain in good condition, are safe to use, and are accessible to all, regardless of background.

MELAKA, July 26 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Community nationwide will receive further details related to any announcement within 24 hours after it is made, says Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He said the measure was to deliver accurate information directly to the grassroots in each locality. 'For technical matters, it may be difficult, but we want the MADANI Community to get the simplest explanation,' he said at the 2025 Peninsular Malaysia MADANI Community Retreat held in conjunction with the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 at Mini Stadium Bistari, Ayer Keroh here tonight. The retreat, attended by around 2,300 participants from 1,406 MADANI Communities, was also joined by Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan. Also present were Senior Division Secretary (Management) of the Ministry of Communications, Mazlan Abd Mutalib, and Information Department director-general Julina Johan. Meanwhile, Fahmi said among the major announcements to be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) on July 31. He said the tabling of a Malaysia Plan usually involved highly technical details related to the country's physical development, such as the construction of hospitals and schools. 'But within 24 hours, the MADANI Community will receive simplified explanations and breakdowns so that they can communicate the information in an easy-to-understand way to their respective communities. 'So this will be a new thing, because I want the MADANI Community to grasp and absorb any government announcement quickly,' he said.

Ministry proposes broader access to essential items for Sara aid recipients
RANAU: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will collaborate with the Finance Ministry to expand access to essential items for recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) aid. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the ministry had proposed that recipients be allowed to use their Sara aid at mobile Jualan Rahmah Madani Programme (PJRM) locations, in addition to existing participating retailers. He said, at present, recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) aid could only purchase basic items at 4,152 participating supermarkets and retail outlets across the country, including 470 in Sabah. "This initiative enables Sara recipients, particularly in rural and interior areas, to use the aid credited to their MyKad to make purchases at Jualan Rahmah mobile locations," he told reporters after launching the Sabah Zone KPDN Carnival 2025 here tonight. Armizan said the additional RM300 million allocation for Jualan Rahmah would enable KPDN to increase its frequency nationwide, with a target of 20,000 series throughout this year. "For Sabah, KPDN is targeting 2,276 PJRM series throughout this year, and as of July 26, a total of 1,089 have already been implemented. "We will adopt several approaches to ensure the target is achieved by year-end," he said. He said the approaches included increasing the range of items offered and enhancing cooperation with strategic retail partners. "Through these improvements, the people will have more choices. The ministry can no longer act alone as it did in the past. For example, today's PJRM is carried out in collaboration with retail partners," he explained. Commenting on today's programme, this was the second year KPDN had implemented the programme, adding that six carnival tours would be held across the country this year. "The carnival in Ranau, held in conjunction with the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM), is the second in the series this year, and we expect around 60,000 visitors throughout the three-day event," he said. Armizan said that the main goal of the initiative was to bring government services, particularly those under KPDN, closer to the people, especially at the grassroots level. "The KPDN Carnival 2025 also serves as a catalyst in empowering KBBM through the theme 'Jom Beli Lokal' as part of ongoing efforts to support local products and strengthen the domestic economy. It is also a strategic move to boost domestic economic growth while helping local entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises expand their market reach. "At the same time, this initiative provides a platform to showcase the quality of local products, which can become the preferred choice and ultimately reduce reliance on imported goods," he said. –Bernama
