Pitch invasion STOPS Celtic trophy presentation in Cork

Pitch invasion STOPS Celtic trophy presentation in Cork

The National3 days ago
Brendan Rodgers' side won the pre-season friendly encounter 2-1 thanks to goals from Luke McCowan and a late header by Colby Donovan to score the winner.
In the Irish sun, a packed-out crowd watched on in anticipation to see the Scottish Premiership champions in action.
But after the full-time whistle had sounded, some young, eager fans could not contain their excitement, as they invaded the pitch to get up close with their heroes.
Hundreds of youngsters streamed onto the field as the match organisers prepared to hand the trophy to Hoops skipper Callum McGregor.
It was all taken in good spirits by the Celts stars and staff, with Rodgers & Co. happy to pose for photos and high-fives with the kids.
However, it soon became clear that the trophy presentation had been cancelled as a result of the mass pitch invasion.
And so, Celtic's players and staff continued to mingle with those who had made their way onto the pitch before heading for the away dressing room in Cork after another productive pre-season workout.

Accounts filed at Companies House show his business has reserves of £9,828,095 and made £1.5million profit. Gerrard, who departed Rangers for Aston Villa in November 2021, is listed as secretary and co-director of the firm alongside his brother Paul. The former Ibrox boss runs his own clothing label, SSG Apparel, and has promoted various products — from fashion to scented candles — on his social media. Financial records also reveal Gerrard has donated over £40,000 to charity in the past three years through his foundation. The company's value also rose by £800,000 in a year. The former midfielder took over as Rangers boss in June 2018, leading them to their first Scottish Premiership title in a decade in 2021. He was dismissed by Aston Villa in October after just 11 months at the helm due to a disappointing run of form. Following a stint managing in Saudi Arabia, Gerrard was tipped for a return to Ibrox earlier this year, but the club ultimately chose Russell Martin as their new manager. 1 Steven Gerrard boosted the value of his personal company to almost £10million last year Credit: PA:Press Association

Djeidi Gassama to Rangers transfer 'issues' reach endgame with Dor Turgeman 'interested' as timeline set

The winger is inching close to an agreement with the Ibrox club with the final hurdle now removed Sheffield Wednesday winger Djeidi Gassama has reportedly been cleared to join Rangers and become Russell Martin 's seventh summer signing Speaking on Friday, the Ibrox boss revealed that he was confident that the Frenchamn would join the Scottish Premiership club from the struggling Yorkshire side. ‌ Record Sport understands that on Friday morning Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri was stalling on the £2.5million sale as he looked to lure in rival bidders. ‌ The cash-strapped Championship side are desperate to raise funds amid a financial crisis that has left several of their top stars to go without wages for the past two months. But The Sheffield Star now report that "progress" has now been made and that "the issues are being ironed out" with the player now expected to leave Wednesday for Rangers on a four-year deal. While the new boss puts the squad through their paces at their St George's training base, the club are also on the lookout for another striker with both Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane facing uncertain futures. Record Sport first revealed the Maccabi Tel Aviv man Dor Turgeman is also on the shortlist of strikers - but they could face a waiting game to land the 21-year-old. Speaking ahead of the Israeli Super Cup final clash with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Maccabi boss Zarko Lazetic confirmed that Turgeman has been keen on some of the offers. ‌ However, he has vetoed any departures until after their Champions League qualifiers with Pafos later this month - with the second leg taking place on July 30. Asked about Turgeman's status, Lazetic said: "He has trained excellently. He has offers and is interested in them, they also had injuries. "He is happy and is happy to continue here, especially considering the way the previous season ended. ‌ "There are a lot of challenges ahead of us - Be'er Sheva, the Champions League qualifiers. I want to get started. Departures can wait until after." That could impact on the sales of Igamane and Dessers - with Lille chasing the Morocco cap and AEK showing interest in the last season's top scorer at Ibrox.
