How safe is TRNSMT as Glasgow festival compared to events across the UK?

Daily Record01-07-2025
TRNSMT's safety level has been ranked against the other major music events in the UK - but what makes a festival safe or unsafe?
TRNSMT is kicking off next weekend, with more than 150,000 revellers attending the three-day event at Glasgow Green.. But with huge crowds, a lot of booze, and potential hot weather, health and safety is a major issue concerning TRNSMT.
It is something that could be a cause for concern at big events across the UK. But how safe is TRNSMT compared to Britain's other festivals?

Experts in SIA security training, Get Licensed, have looked into festival capacity, wellbeing tents, weather, overcrowding issues, mobile accessibility, and police responsiveness for the UK's most popular festivals, to reveal which can be deemed the most and least safe.

Overall, TRNSMT was ranked the 16th safest festival in the UK. Counting the 150,000 festival-goers to TRNSMT, there is one welfare tent for every 50,000 attendees.
Concerning average weather for the date and location, TRNSMT typically sees temperatures of around 14.2C and 98mm of rainfall.
On average, the local police force answers 82 per cent of 999 calls in under 10 seconds, which was also taken into account in the study of festival safety.
But how does this compare to the rest of the UK's most popular festivals?
The number one safest festival in the study was Brighton's The Great Escape festival, with just 15,000 attendees and two welfare tents.

Scotland' s HebCelt festival in Stornoway came in at number seven, with a capacity of 17,800.
The least safe festival in the UK was Boomtown festival in Winchester, England. Boomtown also had the most complaints of overcrowding on Reddit, deeming it less safe.

Creamfields, Download, and Leeds were ranked second, third, and fourth-least safe, respectively, while the iconic Glastonbury, which took place last weekend, was ranked the fifth least safe festival in the UK.
But while the 16th safest festival overall, TRNSMT came in number six for having the most arrests, at 0.71 arrests per 1,000 attendees. Creamfields topped the list for most arrests, with 1.46 arrests per 1,000 people.

If you're attending TRNSMT festival next weekend, it's vital to take precautions to ensure you and your friends stay as safe as possible.
It is vital to be mindful of large crowds, to keep yourself hydrated and to make sure you're aware of where the welfare tents are located, should you find yourself in need of medical help.
Suggest arranging a meeting point with your friends in case you get separated and have no phone signal. It's also vital to take regular breaks from alcohol and from being on your feet, so find a good quiet spot to sit and relax when needed.

ITV Love Island fans 'know' who will win series 12 after spotting major clue

Love Island fans think they know who will win the current series - and they're adamant it's a good thing Love Island enthusiasts reckon they've sussed out the victors of the show's 12th series after picking up on a significant hint in the latest episodes. The recent Love Island instalments have been chock-full of drama, with partners switching at a dizzying pace. Yet, Yasmine and Jamie have stood as a pillar of stability amidst the chaos. ‌ Steering clear of the upheaval, the duo enjoyed a charming date last night, delving into discussions about their families and deepening their connection. ‌ For Yasmine and Jamie, it was a case of instant attraction when Jamie entered the main villa during Casa Amor, sharing a kiss with Yas shortly after his arrival. Since that moment, they've been utterly devoted to each other. ‌ However, their status as fan favourites became apparent in today's challenge, Couple of Sorts, where they were voted the most attractive by the public vote – prompting fans to predict they'll clinch the series win. "Yas and Jamie will win the whole show," one viewer confidently posted, reports the Mirror. ‌ The support for the couple is widespread, with another fan taking to X, previously known as Twitter, to proclaim: "Yas and Jamie ... winners! #loveisland". Another concurred: "hoping that yas and jamie will be our next kai and sanam, i need them to win and get married #loveisland. "Yas and Jamie 1st. Then Shakira 2nd. Then Toni and Cash 3rd after she goes back," predicted another, with someone else asserting: "Yasmine and Jamie got a date before Meg and Dejon, winners!" ‌ "Wrap up this series now and crown Yasmine and Jamie as the winners," declared yet another hopeful fan. Yasmine had a challenging time in the villa before Jamie's arrival, as despite exploring various possibilities, nothing truly resonated until Casa Amor. ‌ She'd shared kisses with Harry, Ben and most recently Conor, before establishing a significant bond with Jamie. Yasmine made her entrance into the villa as an early bombshell alongside Malisha and Emily - and now she's the last woman standing. Malisha was harshly evicted from the villa after Harrison opted to bring Toni back to the villa following dates with both women. ‌ Emily was sent packing when Tommy returned from Casa Amor with Lucy, although this new couple were soon ousted themselves when 'most compatible couple' Shakira and Ty chose to send them home. The Islanders tried to process Toni's unexpected decision to recouple with Harrison despite the fact he had been getting close to Casa Amor bombshell Lauren, and Toni was seemingly smitten with her then-partner Cach. Heartbroken and confused, Cach was seen confiding in Ty on the terrace, breaking down in tears as emotions overwhelmed him. Ty comforted him and wiped away his tears as Cach admitted he felt deeply embarrassed.

Snoop Dogg becomes co-owner of Swansea City football team despite declaring love for Celtic

The Drop It Like It's Hot rapper has made no secret about his love for the Champions of Scotland over the years US rapper Snoop Dogg has officially become co-owner of Championship football club Swansea City - despite declaring his love for Celtic FC. ‌ The Drop It Like It's Hot rapper, 53, who had hinted at an investment while helping to promote the club's shirt launch at the weekend, has joined Croatian footballing great Luka Luka Modrić in buying into the Swans. ‌ The club, which plays in the second-highest division of English football, say they have unveiled a Snoop Dogg mural at the West Stand of the Stadium. ‌ "My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City," Snoop said. "The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. "This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I'm proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club, and I look forward to getting to know all my YJBS." ‌ Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, has been a long-time fan for another team north of the border. The 17-time Grammy nominated artist has backed Celtic for over two decades. Snoop says he has been a Celtic fan since he was given a Hoops top in 2005. ‌ In April, Snoop said he wants to help kick off the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow if the opening ceremony is held at Celtic Park. The rap legend famously carried the Olympic torch in the final leg of its journey to the Stade de France in Paris last year and told the Sunday Mail that to open the games at Parkhead would be his ultimate dream. He also said he wants to open a burger van on the grounds and invest in the club. ‌ Snoop said: "I know people are going to say I am a little biased, but any opening ceremony should be at Celtic Park. I might be a Celtic fan but I think most people, Celtic fans or not, recognise it has one of the greatest stadiums in the world. To have the opening ceremony there would be perfect and maybe I'll even get a chance to perform there. "I don't need an excuse to visit Glasgow – but to open the games at Celtic Park would be a dream." Snoop, whose music is rooted in West Coast hip-hop, is known for songs like Sweat. He has earned nine top 10 singles in the UK chart and is a keen sports fan having worked as a NBC correspondent at the 2024 Paris Olympics. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Daredevil Felix Baumgartner who made space edge jump dies in paragliding accident

Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner has died following a paragliding crash in Italy. Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner, who gained fame in 2012 for his leap from the edge of space, has tragically died in a paragliding accident. The extreme sports enthusiast was declared dead this afternoon at the age of 56. ‌ Baumgartner passed following a paragliding mishap in Italy. Local reports indicate that his craft landed in a swimming pool at a holiday resort, injuring a young girl on the ground. ‌ Sources from the local fire and rescue service reported that Felix had expressed feeling unwell while airborne, subsequently losing control of the paraglider. ‌ The girl struck by his paraglider was swiftly taken to hospital, but her condition is not considered serious. Felix Baumgartner achieved global recognition in 2012 when he successfully executed a record-breaking jump from the stratosphere, a staggering height of 24 miles. ‌ Having ascended to this altitude in a metal cabin attached to weather balloons, he made the jump unaided, deploying his parachute only 1.5 miles above the ground, reports the Mirror. His descent from the 'edge of space' spanned approximately 10 minutes. The Stratos jump was sponsored by Red Bull, and became the centrepiece of a significant advertising campaign by the energy drink company. In 2014, brand new footage of daredevil Felix Baumgartner's record breaking skydive from the edge of space was released. ‌ The footage, captured using body mounted GoPro cameras, gave a first person view of the epic space jump, which saw him freefall more than 24 miles. Baumgartner's amazing stunt, which broke multiple skydiving world records in October 2012, was broadcast live on the internet. But the newly released footage gives a whole new perspective on the jump, allowing viewers to watch the freefall as he would have seen it. ‌ Baumgartner, 43, reached a top velocity of 833.9 miles per hour, making him the first man to break the sound barrier in freefall. He is also set a new record for the highest ever jump, leaping from the capsule at 128,000 ft, as well as the highest ever manned balloon flight. ‌ Felix, 43, jumped from a tiny shelf outside the 11-by-8-foot fiberglass and acrylic capsule that was carried to 128,000 feet by an enormous balloon. Baumgartner's ascent into the stratosphere was in a capsule attached to a 30 million-cubic-foot (850,000-cubic-metre) plastic balloon, which was about the thickness of a dry cleaning bag. The thrill-seeker had successfully completed one jump, from a notorious launch site known as 'The Dumpster'. However, when he returned for a second leap disaster struck. The latest tragedy unfolded in Switzerland, when a man reportedly lost control and smashed into a cliff at 6,500 feet on Saturday. Emergency services later recovered his body.
