Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Tuesday's: Forbes NYT 'Connections' Hints For Tuesday, July 8: Today's Clues And Answers By Kris Holt
It's Wednesday, and you know what that means: it's time for another game of Connections !
Wednesdays used to be quite different for me. When I was at university in my hometown, classes would end early on that day, I believe at 11. The idea behind this was to give students more time to study or take part in social activities.
I did neither.
Instead, I walked for about seven minutes from the campus to the downtown bingo hall to meet my grandmother. For the low price of two British pounds, I had a few games of bingo, a cup of tea, a bacon roll and some quality time with my beloved gran. After the lunchtime bingo session was over, we'd walk back to her flat and we'd spend some more time together. It was a nice time in my life, and I cherish those memories.
I do the same thing now whenever I'm back visiting family and friends, as I go to bingo with my mother and aunt. The occasional win is the least important part.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections , the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes .
Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, July 9 are coming right up. How To Play Connections
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app.
You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.
There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.
Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections , so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.
Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query. What Are Today's Connections Hints?

Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers.
This is your final warning!
Today's Connections answers are... 🟨 Yellow group — lowest part (BASE, BOTTOM, FOOT, FOUNDATION)
🟩 Green group — kinds of socks (ANKLE, COMPRESSION, CREW, DRESS)
🟦 Blue group — things you do at someone's front door (BUZZ, KNOCK, RING, SHOUT)
🟪 Purple group — ending in synonyms for "clip" (COMPARE, CONNECTICUT, PARSNIP, WALLOP)
RING and BUZZ locked together in my brain before anything else. As I looked around the grid, SHOUT and KNOCK were the only two "call to attention" words. So, that took care of the blues.
ANKLE and COMPRESSION seemed like socks to me. I vaguely remembered that CREW socks are a thing, and of course DRESS socks are handy too. Greens done.
At that point, the yellows seemed pretty clear, so as is my habit, I submitted the purples first. I suspected there was some kind of wordplay going on there, but I couldn't quite figure it out. After I submitted the group, it all made sense (at least within the tortured logic of this game). I slid through the yellows for the win.
That's another perfect game in this ridiculous streak, which has now extended to 134 wins (I haven't felt in too much peril lately, so I think we're due for another very difficult game). Here's my grid for today:
🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪
🟨🟨🟨🟨
That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Thursday's game if you need them.
P.S. I was saddened by the death of Michael Madsen last week. Such a talented actor, and he always brought something a bit interesting and unexpected to his roles. Perhaps his most famous moment was in Reservoir Dogs, in a scene that will live long in the memory. The song that plays during that sequence is the fantastic "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Steelers Wheel. What a great song:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Grammy-winning artist says she was encouraged to have an abortion after unexpected pregnancy

R&B singer-and-songwriter Victoria Monét revealed she was pressured to have an abortion after learning she was pregnant with her daughter, during an appearance on former First Lady Michelle Obama's podcast on Wednesday. Monét, who won Grammys in 2024 for best new artist, best R&B album and best engineered album, shared about how motherhood impacted her career after giving birth to her daughter Hazel in 2021. Not everyone in her professional circle was supportive of her pregnancy, she recalled. The singer explained it was difficult to share the celebratory news because she understood it might not be received well by her business associates. "So when I got pregnant, I was an independent artist. I was working with this company called Platoon working out of the UK. And when you're an artist, though you're a human, you're technically the business," Monét said on the podcast. "So, to have to explain to someone who is a partner in your business that your business may slow down because of pregnancy, is difficult, but it's also something that you're supposed to feel celebratory about." Platoon is a London-based music distribution and creative services company which helps boost independent artists before they sign deals with major labels. After breaking the news to her business partner over Zoom, Monét said she was given a presentation telling her how difficult and expensive it was to raise a child. "In retrospect, it was really, really disheartening," Monét admitted. "I had a person on my team, though the intentions were good, really, really hurt my feelings because they made a PowerPoint presentation to me about how difficult it will [sic] be for me." "And the finale of the presentation was, what's the rush? So, it felt like an encouragement to get an abortion. So that was really, really hurtful," she shared. Monét called it a "very emotional" experience but said it left her with a "fight" to prove that motherhood didn't have to derail her career. "And I walked out of that meeting…with that same fight that I had when I left home. I'm going to do this. It's my body, and I'm going to make it work even if it's hard," she recalled. She didn't believe the person meant to "harm" her but wanted her to understand that having a child was a "big decision" that would impact her career. Ultimately, the incident came "full circle," she explained, because one of her most popular songs, "On My Mama," she wrote about becoming a mother. "She's been the biggest blessing," Monét said of her daughter. "I had these preconceived notions that having a child would suspend my career or make things even more difficult, but God just was like, 'nope,' but it's been so fun." Fox News Digital reached out to Platoon for comment.

Liu's Creamery, an extension of Hong Kong and Taiwanese bakery and cafe Liu's, is closing at the beginning of August after about eight months in the neighborhood. The ice cream spot, which started scooping in January 2025, will have its last day of business on August 3. Liu's Creamery, located right next door to Liu's Cafe, serves Asian-inflected ice cream, including Taiwan milk tea, honey toast, and ginger pear. Pastry chef Isabell Manibusan, who also oversees desserts at Liu's Cafe and modern Korean restaurant Danbi, developed the menu for Liu's Creamery. The closure was announced in an Instagram post on July 24. Liu's Creamery will operate from Friday through Sunday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., until its closure. Liu's Cafe will not be affected by the closure. Though the closure is a loss for the neighborhood, the post promises that something 'exciting' will take its place soon. SF Gate visits Tomat For SF Gate, Karen Palmer writes of a recent visit to Tomat, a London-inspired restaurant on the outskirts of LAX. Opened by first-time restaurateurs Harry Posner and Natalie Dial, Tomat is open all day, serving pastries in the morning and proteins off the wood-fired grill at night. A breakfast burrito from the Torrance hospital has been making the rounds on TikTok and Reddit, with some claiming that it is among the best in LA. Yusra Farzan went to investigate for LAist and found that while the burrito was a good deal at $7, and was overall very solid, it may not quite be the best in the region. A fundraiser for Indivisible Arts Notable Los Angeles barman Matthew Biancaniello will embark on a 21-mile swim from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes on September 25. The GoFundMe effort is to raise funds for Indivisible Arts, a nonprofit that supports underserved youth. To deal with losing his restaurant in the Woolsey Fire, back surgery, and personal loss, Biancaniello has found relief through ocean swims. — Mona Holmes, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest Eater LA All your essential food and restaurant intel delivered to you Email (required) Sign Up By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice .
