‘NYT Mini' Clues And Answers For Saturday, July 19
Mini Crossword NYT Looking for the answers to Friday's NYT Mini? Check them out here: Forbes NYT Mini Hints For Friday, July 18: Today's Extra Clues And Answers By Kris Holt The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper's larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays. Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you'll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives. The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can't quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer. To help you avoid doing that, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers (spoilers lie ahead, of course): NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers ACROSS 1) See-through - CLEAR 6) "Anybody home?" - HELLO 7) Winged horse of Greek myth - PEGASUS 9) Salamander known for its regenerative abilities (and adorable appearance) - AXOLOTL 10) Texting format, for short - SMS 11) Birthplace of bossa nova - RIO 12) Even score - TIE 13) Insect seen in Dalí's "The Persistence of Memory" - ANT 14) Directory abbr. - EXT 15) Metroid console, for short - NES DOWN 1) Party snack made with cereal and pretzels - CHEXMIX 2) Gift with many interlocking pieces - LEGOSET 3) Airline whose name comes from the Book of Hosea - ELAL 4) Election loser - ALSORAN 5) Stand-up comic's act - ROUTINE 7) Command that uses the "V" key - PASTE 8) Pulling their arms might win you money - SLOTS Mini NYT Really big Mini today, which means more answers to hunt down, and a few of these are tricky. I'm not sure if you got 'Axolotl' off the top of your head, or even if you did, know how to spell it exactly. One of the trickiest ones I found was also-ran for an election loser. It's a term, sure, but all that commonly used in day to day? Definitely not. Some decently hard ones in here, but hopefully you could find your way. Today's NYT Strands Puzzle: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Saturday, July 19th
Today's NYT Strands hints and answers Looking for Friday's Strands hints, spangram and answers? You can find them here: It's Saturday at last and I, dearest Strandistrians, have returned! I've been out of the rotation for the past two weeks as my colleagues Kris Holt and Paul Tassi have tackled these Strands guides, but now I'm back. With a vengeance. Let's uncover some words! Strands is the newest game in the New York Times' stable of puzzle games. It's a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we're given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day's theme. Spoilers ahead. Today's Strands Hints Read on for today's theme and some hints to help you uncover today's words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I'm giving out three hints instead of two. Today's Theme: Hot enough for ya? FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Hint: Words you'd describe warm places with, specifically this season. Clue: Okay, warm is an understatement. Here are the first two letters of each word: Remember, spoilers ahead! What Are Today's Strands Answers? Today's spangram is: SUMMERWEATHER Here's the full list of words: Here's the completed Strands grid: Today's Strands I just returned from a trip to Phoenix, AZ so 'hot enough for ya?' is rather timely. Of course, Phoenix is not MUGGY in the slightest. Nor would I use the word BALMY to describe that desert city. STICKY? Yes. SCORCHING? Absolutely. SWELTERING? You're damn right it is. But with a pool, it's also quite lovely. And air-conditioning, of course. This was a pretty easy Strands. How did you do on your Strands today? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook. Be sure to check out my blog for my daily Wordle guides as well as all my other writing about TV shows, streaming guides, movie reviews, video game coverage and much more. Thanks for stopping by!

NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Saturday, July 12
Connections hints and answers are here. GETTY Looking for Friday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: Forbes NYT 'Connections' Hints For Friday, July 11: Today's Clues And Answers By Kris Holt It is time to begin your weekend joust with Connections, a puzzle that is on the harder side today, with a few twists and turns the NYT through in. Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles. So, onto the hints and answers: These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. PERIOD UNIFORM CHAMPION MINUTE VICTOR SECOND ECHO DAY ELABORATE AGE BACK SUPPORT PARTICULAR KILO TIME THOROUGH The hints for the Connections groups today are: Yellow Group - Vote of confidence Green Group - Examine closely Blue Group - Not on a clock Purple Group - Radio chat What Are Today's Connections Groups? Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: Yellow Group - Endorse Green Group - Detailed Blue Group - Era Purple Group - In the NATO Alphabet The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: Yellow Group - Endorse (BACK, CHAMPION, SECOND, SUPPORT) Green Group - Detailed (ELABORATE, MINUTE, PARTICUPLAR, THOROUGH) Blue Group - Era (AGE, DAY, PERIOD, TIME) Purple Group - In the NATO Alphabet (ECHO, KILO, UNIFORM, VICTOR) Connections NYT For yellow group, we had the double meaning for 'second' in play, given that you might imagine that goes with minute, day and so on. It's political season so maybe you were able to get the 'endorse' concept, but this wasn't the hardest on the list, certainly. Green group once again took one of those time words, minute, and used the other meaning and pronunciation. The other three did come together rather easily though, so you could find and pull minute with enough critical thinking. Alright, this is where things get hard because there actually was a time category here, but it just didn't involve second or minute, which could have resulted in a lot of lost guesses. These are 'eras' of time, including the word time itself. But it's more literary like 'in the age of,' 'in the time of," 'in the day of," or a period of time. Tough! Purple group makes sense if you know this alphabet well, but it may be tricky otherwise. I knew three of these but I guess I didn't know that the callsign for U was uniform. So even just missing one of those was enough to potentially tank the category. I'll be honesty, I tanked the category. I hope you did better than me. Today's NYT ‘Connections' Hints, Clues And Answers For Wednesday, July 9
Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections. getty Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Tuesday's: Forbes NYT 'Connections' Hints For Tuesday, July 8: Today's Clues And Answers By Kris Holt It's Wednesday, and you know what that means: it's time for another game of Connections ! Wednesdays used to be quite different for me. When I was at university in my hometown, classes would end early on that day, I believe at 11. The idea behind this was to give students more time to study or take part in social activities. I did neither. Instead, I walked for about seven minutes from the campus to the downtown bingo hall to meet my grandmother. For the low price of two British pounds, I had a few games of bingo, a cup of tea, a bacon roll and some quality time with my beloved gran. After the lunchtime bingo session was over, we'd walk back to her flat and we'd spend some more time together. It was a nice time in my life, and I cherish those memories. I do the same thing now whenever I'm back visiting family and friends, as I go to bingo with my mother and aunt. The occasional win is the least important part. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections , the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes . Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, July 9 are coming right up. How To Play Connections Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections , so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed. Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query. What Are Today's Connections Hints? Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today's Connections groups, I'll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them. Today's 16 words are... RING CREW COMPARE SHOUT ANKLE PARSNIP FOUNDATION DRESS FOOT BUZZ BASE KNOCK CONNECTICUT BOTTOM COMPRESSION WALLOP And the hints for today's Connections groups are: 🟨 Yellow group — found down below 🟩 Green group — it's always worth carrying a spare pair! 🟦 Blue group — grab someone's attention when they're out of sight 🟪 Purple group — you may want to bring these down to size One Word For Each Connections Group Need some extra help? Be warned: we're starting to get into spoiler territory. Let's take a look at one word for each group. Today's Connections word hints are… 🟨 Yellow group — FOUNDATION 🟩 Green group — COMPRESSION 🟦 Blue group — KNOCK 🟪 Purple group — COMPARE What Are Today's Connections Groups? Today's Connections groups are... 🟨 Yellow group — lowest part 🟩 Green group — kinds of socks 🟦 Blue group — things you do at someone's front door 🟪 Purple group — ending in synonyms for "clip" What Are Today's Connections Answers? Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... 🟨 Yellow group — lowest part (BASE, BOTTOM, FOOT, FOUNDATION) 🟩 Green group — kinds of socks (ANKLE, COMPRESSION, CREW, DRESS) 🟦 Blue group — things you do at someone's front door (BUZZ, KNOCK, RING, SHOUT) 🟪 Purple group — ending in synonyms for "clip" (COMPARE, CONNECTICUT, PARSNIP, WALLOP) RING and BUZZ locked together in my brain before anything else. As I looked around the grid, SHOUT and KNOCK were the only two "call to attention" words. So, that took care of the blues. ANKLE and COMPRESSION seemed like socks to me. I vaguely remembered that CREW socks are a thing, and of course DRESS socks are handy too. Greens done. At that point, the yellows seemed pretty clear, so as is my habit, I submitted the purples first. I suspected there was some kind of wordplay going on there, but I couldn't quite figure it out. After I submitted the group, it all made sense (at least within the tortured logic of this game). I slid through the yellows for the win. That's another perfect game in this ridiculous streak, which has now extended to 134 wins (I haven't felt in too much peril lately, so I think we're due for another very difficult game). Here's my grid for today: 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Thursday's game if you need them. P.S. I was saddened by the death of Michael Madsen last week. Such a talented actor, and he always brought something a bit interesting and unexpected to his roles. Perhaps his most famous moment was in Reservoir Dogs, in a scene that will live long in the memory. The song that plays during that sequence is the fantastic "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Steelers Wheel. What a great song: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes .

NYT ‘Strands' Hints For Monday, July 7: Today's Spangram And Answers
Today's NYT Strands hints and answers. getty Before today's Strands hints, spangram and answers, here are Sunday's: Forbes NYT 'Strands' Hints For Sunday, July 6: Today's Spangram And Answers By Kris Holt Hey, folks! Today's NYT Strands hints, spangram and answers for Monday, July 7 are coming right up. The New York Times' Strands puzzle is a play on the classic word search. It's available on the NYT website and in the NYT Games app alongside the likes of Wordle and Connections (which we also cover in daily guides at Forbes Gaming ). There's a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you'll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue. You'll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links at least two sides of the board, but it may not start or end there. While the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. When you find the spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow. Every letter is used once in one of the theme words and spangram. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and it's possible to switch directions in the middle of a word. If you're playing on a touchscreen, double tap the last letter to submit your guess. If you find three valid words of at least four letters that are not part of the theme, you'll unlock the Hint button. Clicking this will highlight the letters that make up one of the theme words. Be warned: You'll need to be on your toes. Sometimes you'll need to fill the missing word(s) in a phrase. On other days, the game may revolve around synonyms or homophones. The difficulty will vary from day to day, and the puzzle creators will try to surprise you sometimes. What Is Today's Strands Hint? Scroll slowly! Just after the hint for today's Strands puzzle, I'll reveal what the answer words are. The official theme hint for today's Strands puzzle is... Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh Need some extra help? Here's another hint... Jason Voorhees' hunting grounds, perhaps? There are seven theme words to find today, including the spangram. What Are Today's NYT Strands Hints? Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Strands hints. Here are the first two letters of every theme word in today's puzzle. They're ordered from left to right, then top to bottom by any letter of the word appearing for the first time: What Are Today's NYT Strands Answers? Before I reveal the other the full word list, I'll first tell you the spangram and show you where that is on the grid. This is your final spoiler warning! Today's Strands spangram is... SUMMER CAMP Here's where you'll find it on the grid… New York Times Strands screenshot, showing the highlighted term SUMMER CAMP Screenshot by Kris Holt Today's Strands theme words are... CANTEEN LODGE SUMMER CAMP FLAGPOLE BUNK FIELDHOUSE LAKE Here's what the completed grid looks like... Completed NYT Strands grid for July 7, including the words CANTEEN, LODGE, SUMMER CAMP, FLAGPOLE, ... More BUNK, FIELDHOUSE and LAKE. Screenshot by Kris Holt I had absolutely no idea about the theme clue, so I needed some hints to get started. Those gave me the letters for BUNK and LAKE, which helped me figure out the spangram. I loved the shape of FLAGPOLE. The rest of the words were straightforward enough. I'm glad FIELDHOUSE was the last one with the remaining letters, because I never would have figured that one out by myself. I used two hints and the spangram was the third theme word I found. I'll be back with you tomorrow for more Strands fun! Please follow my blog for more coverage of Strands, Connections and other word games as well as video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! If you want to chat about Strands, Connections and other stuff with like-minded folks, join my Discord server ! Also, follow me on Bluesky ! It's fun there.
