Ex-ESPN analyst issues brutal insult to Hulk Hogan's WWE career after wrestling legend's death
Hogan, a wrestling legend, died at the age of 71 on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Emergency services rushed him to a local hospital but the WWE icon was ultimately declared dead at the medical facility.
Tributes to the WWE icon have flooded in from the sporting world and beyond in the days since his death, including even a personal message from President Donald Trump.
However, Jones, who worked as a regular analyst for ESPN for eight years until 2018, claimed that he cannot understand the praise for Hogan or his legacy in the ring.
'Why was Hulk Hogan such a big deal? Why did people love Hulk Hogan so much? I have spent the last 96 hours and change trying to come up with an answer to that question and I do not have it,' Jones said on the The Right Time with Bomani Jones show.
'I did not see anything that I thought gave a real explanation as to why it was that this guy was so popular and that famous. He had to win over wrestling to move over into this bigger world of pop culture fame.
Former ESPN analyst Bomani Jones (right) has taken aim at Hulk Hogan's (left) legacy
'We all acknowledge that he was a bad wrestler and the majority of the really popular wrestlers are good wrestlers. He wasn't exactly the coolest wrestler. I mean, he ain't no Ric Flair. Low key, his character was a little bit corny.
'The training, the prayers and the vitamins... even though we found out that the vitamins, you couldn't buy them in stores. He out here telling you, "take vitamins to get as big as me," meanwhile he putting his pants down and and putting his booty out.'
Throughout his life, which is set to be covered by a new Netflix documentary, Hogan endured his fair share of controversies in and out of the ring, including the exposure of his steroid use.
Hogan would tell his young fanbase, dubbed the Hulkamaniacs, to take their vitamins, say their prayers, respect their parents, and always do their best, but by the early 1990s his public image had taken a downwards turn.
In 1991, he was forced to deny that his gargantuan build was the result of long-term steroid abuse, only to U-turn while under oath in a 1994 trial against his former employer where he admitted to taking them for over 13 years.
Anabolic steroids are powerful, manufactured, drugs that mimic the effects of the testosterone.
Away from his wrestling career, Hogan battled through the emotional toll of a bitter family feud with ex-wife Linda and his daughter Brooke during the final months of his life.
In an astonishing video on social media shared back in March, Linda first accused her former husband of being a 'complete liar' and 'sex addict' .
She also claimed their family is 'in the worst mess' after Brooke cut both parents out of her life, before hitting back at her mom by alleging that her dad was not the only reason behind the shocking family divide, claiming she was 'verbally and mentally abused' during her childhood.
'Sadly, it would frequently turn physical. And sometimes it's not by the person you would assume, abuse comes in all shapes and sizes,' Brooke alleged.
After Brooke's stunning response, Linda then took a dramatic U-turn by defending Hogan and branding her daughter a 'narcissist.'
Before his death, Hogan became known as an ardent Trump supporter, even pitching himself to become the president's Vice President before JD Vance was chosen.
He endorsed Trump's presidential candidacy at the 2024 GOP convention and later spoke in favor of his fellow reality TV star at a Madison Square Garden rally in October.
But in some corners, his act was growing tired, especially after Hogan was recorded using racist slurs in 2015.
In a video made public by The National Enquirer, Hogan said 'I guess we're all a little racist' and used the n-word while referring to his daughter's love life, repeating the phrase 'f***ing n******' several times.

Wednesday Season 1 recap from the Hyde's identity to ending explained
Wednesday Season 1 premiered in 2022 and quickly became a global phenomenon Wednesday: Season 2 official Netflix trailer *Warning: This article contains spoilers for Wednesday Season 1* Wednesday quickly became a worldwide sensation and now, despite a long wait, Season 2 will soon return to screens. Offering a fresh perspective on the Addams Family, the series is seen through the eyes of Wednesday Addams (portrayed by Jenna Ortega). The inaugural season revolved entirely around Wednesday being sent to Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for misfits and outcasts, following her retaliation against her brother Pugsley's tormentors. Initially resistant, Wednesday soon found herself playing a pivotal role at the school, having rescued Nevermore Academy from a significant threat, reports the Mirror US. As we eagerly await the next instalment, here's a recap of key events to remember. The big mystery Right from the start, Wednesday was embroiled in a massive mystery as a monstrous beast seemed to be preying on outcasts. In one of the early episodes, student Rowan tries to murder Wednesday only to be ripped apart by a creature. Despite what Wednesday witnessed, he shows up at school the next day before departing. It later transpires that Rowan's reappearance was actually due to shapeshifter, Principal Larissa Weems. Another intriguing mystery was the history of Jericho and its connection to Wednesday Addams. Wednesday quizzes her parents about an old murder case in which her father, Gomez, was accused of killing another student, Garrett Gates - who it later was revealed to be Laurel's brother (AKA Miss Thornhill). Garrett was accidentally killed by Wednesday's mother, Morticia, after he attempted a mass murder of outcasts at the school. We soon learn about Garrett's family and their connections to Joseph Crackstone - and there was one monster hiding in plain sight. Joseph Crackstone and the Master Plan Joseph Crackstone was a radical pilgrim who was obsessed with eradicating all outcasts. Miss Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates, managed to stay under the radar as Miss Thornhill to avenge her brother's death. Concealing herself behind the school's normie teacher act, Laurel quickly identified Tyler as the Hyde and began to control him, all part of her master plan - which was to resurrect Joseph Crackstone. She needed enough body parts to resurrect Crackstone, and using Wednesday's blood, she succeeds. Wednesday's Powers Season 1 saw Wednesday grappling with her psychic abilities. Guided by her ancestor Goody Addams, Wednesday's visions become stronger throughout. The main character possesses the ability to experience visions through physical contact, though she initially lacked control over this gift. Following her ultimate vision, Goody devised a strategy that involves bringing Wednesday back from a fatal injury. Wednesday and Enid Wednesday and Enid form an unexpected partnership. Wednesday favours isolation and gloom, but finds herself sharing accommodation with Enid Sinclair, her polar opposite. Enid is depicted battling to "wolf out" during the series, and as her abilities finally develop, her bond with Wednesday deepens as well. She rapidly transforms into a devoted companion and ultimately saves Wednesday's life. Who is the Hyde? Wednesday eventually discovered the Hyde was actually supposed normie and romantic interest, Tyler. This shocking truth emerged during their initial kiss when Wednesday experienced a vision. Tyler's Hyde lineage stems from his deceased mother Francoise, who also studied at Nevermore and was a Hyde, though no-one knew as Hyde's are banned from attending Nevermore. What happens to Principal Weems? A Murder of Woes is the final episode in the season and arguably the most intense. After apprehending Tyler and plotting to torture him, Wednesday was eventually reported to Principal Weems, detained and subsequently kicked out of Nevermore. Tyler confessed to being the Hyde, taunting her with the question "What does it feel like to lose?" The drama didn't end there, as despite their tense relationship, Wednesday joined forces with Principal Weems for one final scheme. Weems, a shapeshifter, impersonates Tyler and confronts Miss Thornhill, who finally admits to being Laurel Gates and using Tyler to kill outcasts. Principal Weems was subsequently murdered. Who is the stalker in Wednesday? Wednesday concluded on a suspenseful note, much to the fans' excitement. Equipped with her first mobile phone, she began receiving a string of text messages from an unidentified number. One message ominously stated: "I'm watching you", accompanied by threatening gifs and photos of Wednesday with her romantic interests. The stalker's identity remains a mystery, but fans are eagerly sharing their theories ahead of Season 2.

Hulk Hogan's estranged daughter Brooke slams WWE after she's written out of will
Brooke Hogan has hit out at WWE after they paid tribute to her late dad Hulk Hogan a day after it was revealed she had removed herself from his will amid their estranged relationship Hulk Hogan's daughter has hit back at WWE as she is accused of not attending a tribute for the late wresting star. It comes just a day after it was claimed his daughter Brooke had removed herself from his will. The WWE star died last week aged 71 and had a rocky relationship with Brooke in recent years, with the pair become estranged. However, she shared a heartfelt tribute to her dad in the days that followed his death. Her husband has since claimed Brooke removed her name from the sports star's will in 2023. Now, Brooke has taken aim at her dad's former employer WWE after she skipped a tribute to Hulk. Amid backlash, Brooke took to her Instagram were she claimed: "For those of you giving me c**p for not attending my Dad's tributes, @wwe did not extend an invite." In her tribute to Hulk, Brooke wrote how her dad's blood "runs through my veins" and said: "His eyes shine through my children. And our bond has never broken, not even in his final moments. We had a connection deeper than words, one that spanned lifetimes. 'I am so grateful that I knew the real version of him. Not just the one the world viewed through a carefully curated lens. We shared a quiet, sacred bond, one that could be seen and felt by anyone who witnessed us together. When he left this earth, it felt like part of my spirit left with him. I felt it before the news even reached us.' In an effort to clarify their relationship, Brooke explained how the pair never had a "big fight". 'It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand,' she wrote. 'My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support. I begged him to rest, to take care of himself.' Earlier this year, Brooke revealed that she was estranged from her father, as well as her mother Linda. It came after her mum Linda shared a heartfelt Instagram story that revealed her daughter had cut ties with her eight years before. She claimed that ex-husband Hulk caused the family feud, however Brooke hit back and revealed more about the family drama. Brooke said: "I have completely separate reasons for going no contact with each of my parents. "No contact with my Mum has nothing to do with my Dad, and no contact with my Father has nothing to do with my Mother.' However, she added: "As much as I not only understand and have empathy for their own struggles, I absolutely LOVE them with every fiber of my being—which deep down I think they know. "My heart hurts every day, and not a day passes it does not affect me. Inside of me, there is a little girl who desperately wants and needs her Mum and Dad." This week, Brooke's husband Steve Oleksy claimed she had "upheld her Dad's best interests even after his death". Speaking to US Weekly, Oleksy said of Hulk's estate: "That money does not represent accomplishments in the ring — the majority of it came at the expense of my wife's dignity. "It was built on hurtful comments about her and her past relationship, which caused pain not only to her, but to many other families.' Steve referenced comments made by Hulk about an ex-partner of Brooke's. In an audio clip that was leaked from Hulk's sex tape in 2012, he allegedly used the N-word a number of times as he called himself 'racist, to a point". Hulk filed a lawsuit against website Gawker for posting segments of the sex tape. In 2016, he received a $31 million (£23.4million) settlement. The Mirror has contacted WWE for comment.
