'I'm passionate about football. This week, I called Allegri, a friend of mine, and I asked for some information about Inter,' said the Brazilian centre-back.
'He spoke highly of this team. He has great respect for them, just as I do. I managed to pass on some of this information to the team, and I think Allegri gave us good tips.
'We didn't talk about Milan. I told him that perhaps I'll visit him, Ibra and this great team in January.

'I'm pleased with our team's performance. It's not easy to play Inter this way. We knew it was a tough game,' Thiago Silva continued.

'I think we played well defensively. With the ball, we were unable to play as we are accustomed to, and it was tough to beat their pressure. Especially with this heat, it wasn't easy to play.
'We are very satisfied with the qualification, but now we must rest because we play again in three or four days.'
Inter will return to Europe with even more issues to solve, especially after their captain, Lautaro Martinez, openly hit out at Hakan Calhanoglu, saying that he must leave if he no longer wants to fight for important targets at San Siro.

Thiago Silva spent three seasons at Milan, from 2009 to 2012, winning one Serie A title and one Supercoppa Italiana.
The Brazilian defender scored four goals in 79 appearances under Allegri before joining Ligue 1 giants PSG in a €42m deal in 2012.

But in the case of Rayan Cherki, as of right now, it isn't immediately clear where he will play for City. But watching his performance against Al Hilal, perhaps playing in a free role is the ideal role for Cherki. Manchester City may get the best out of Rayan Cherki by letting him roam. Against Al Hilal, Rayan Cherki came on at the beginning of extra time. The French international came on against a tiring Al Hilal defence. But he quickly made an impact on the match. He set up Phil Foden's goal to make it 3-all with a sublime assist. The ball he provided for Foden perfectly encapsulated what Cherki adds to City's play. The idea of him and Phil Foden alternating roles on the pitch may be the dream scenario. But in the case of Rayan Cherki alone, playing a free role may bring out the best in him as a City player. Rayan Cherki showed glimpses of what he will add to the Manchester City squad in the United States. But looking ahead, perhaps if he is unleashed to drift all over the pitch that will see him quickly become a dangerous weapon for Pep Guardiola's side.

The IIHF, NHL and NHLPA all signed an agreement to officially allow NHL players to participate in the 2026 Olympics – and potentially the 2030 edition. Representatives of the three parties, including NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly and IIHF president Luc Tardif, met on Wednesday at the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, to finalize the agreement. At the time, details still needed to be figured out, but the deal's now done for the first NHL participation in the Olympics since 2014 in Sochi, Russia. 'This is a tremendous day for international ice hockey and for fans across the globe,' Tardif said in a statement. 'At the initiative of the IIHF, we have worked collaboratively with NHL and NHLPA in close collaboration with the IOC and Milano Cortina Organizing Committee to make this a reality. Men's hockey games will take place on NHL-sized ice on two rinks in Milan from Feb. 11, 2026, to Feb. 22. The 12 national men's teams announced the first six players joining the roster in June.
