Suspect in 16-year-old's murder is back in jail. Her father says he's now waiting for justice
Mia Campos was killed in July 2024. Police arrested and charged her ex-boyfriend, Jesus Monroy, with her murder. Now months after a judge granted him bond, Monroy is now charged with statutory rape and child molestation.

Channel 2′s Michael Doudna spoke with Campos' family after Monroy was taken back to jail.
'My soul is not the same. My mind is not the same,' Edward Campos said.
Seven months after his daughter's murder, Edward Campos is still left with an empty spot in his home and his heart.
'It's still hard for me because whenever I come home from work, I still see her walking,' he said.
On July 14, 2024, Mia Campos told her family that she was going to meet the father of her unborn child. She never returned home. Hours later, Campos' family found her body in a wooded area.
Police arrested Monroy for allegedly lying to officers during the investigation and then upgraded the charge to murder.

In August, a judge grant Monroy a $50,000 bond and allowed him to go home to his family.
But on Thursday, Gwinnett County police filed new charges. Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office says its special victims unit uncovered new evidence in the case that led to the statutory rape and child molestation charges.
With the new charges, Monroy will need another bond hearing if he wants to get back out of jail.
Campos family told Doudna that they will continue their push for justice. They hope someone is held responsible for the death of Mia and her unborn son.
'He needs to be prepared because justice is coming,' her father said.

Court documents revealed that Torjagbo erifited that the company was opened on February 15, 2020. The 38-year-old said he had 493 employees who reside across the U.S., and had an average monthly payroll of nearly $4 million. In March 2021, Torjagbo received $9.6 million in a PPP loan. Officials said he used the PPP loan and tax refund to purchase the following: $1,677,861.01 for his home; $332,999.80 for a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador; $120,799.79 for a 2022 BMW M850xi; $90,520 for a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Velar; $51,000 for the down payment on a 72-foot yacht; Over $1,000,000 for real estate, trucks, and trailers to start a new business; More than $15,000 for plastic surgery. Family calls for justice after father killed in boat crash with allegedly intoxicated San Bernardino County deputy
Family members of the man who was killed during a boat crash with an allegedly intoxicated San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputy are calling for justice. La Verne father of two Weston Stewart, 38, died after his boat collided with another boat on the Colorado River, just south of the Needles bridge in Needles, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. "On our way back home we got the call from my nephew Jeremiah saying that his dad's dead," said Peyton Stewart, the victim's brother. "He's just crying and screaming on the phone." That second boat was allegedly being driven by Bruce Southworth, an off-duty SBSD deputy who was arrested and booked for negligent use of a watercraft while intoxicated causing injury following the crash. He has since been placed on administrative leave and department investigators say that the criminal investigation will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office for filing. Stewart's family members are concerned about the fairness of that investigation, given that Southworth is not only a deputy, but one of six local first responders who were nationally recognized in 2018 for their response to the San Bernardino workplace terror attack in 2015. "I don't take any enjoyment in his peril, but at the same time, he killed my brother, you know?" Peyton Stewart said. "We think he will get preferential treatment." He says that some witnesses told him Southworth was driving recklessly prior to the crash and that people were telling him to slow down. "You just hope it's not a conflict of interest where they have better intentions for one party versus the other," said Samantha Stewart, Weston's sister-in-law. "We'll never got Weston back." They remember him as a man with a personality and heart larger than life who spent most of his time on the water. As the investigation continues and they begin to wade through the difficulties of their loss, friends have started a GoFundMe to help Weston's sons. Additional charges filed against Delta pilot accused of child sexual abuse; 2nd suspect arrested
Additional charges of child sex abuse were filed against a Delta Airlines pilot who was pulled off a Minneapolis-to-San Francisco flight upon arrival over the weekend, and authorities said a second suspect was arrested. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office said it filed a 24-count felony complaint in Superior Court Tuesday against Florida resident Rustom Bhagwagar, which includes charges of engaging in a sexual act with a child 10 years old or younger, aggravated sexual assault of a child, forceable lewd acts, and other sexual abuse charges. The DA's Office said the crimes against the child happened between 2018 and 2023 in Contra Costa County. In addition, authorities charged a 45-year-old woman in a related complaint with the same 24 felony counts. She was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, according to jail records. The charges against both the woman and Bhagwagar carry terms of 15 years to life in state prison, the DA's Office said. Because of the victim's age and the nature of the allegations, the DA's Office said the victim is not being named to protect her identity. CBS News Bay Area is not identifying the female suspect. "Our office stands firmly committed to protecting children and holding those who cause harm accountable," said District Attorney Diana Becton in a prepared statement. "Every child deserves to feel safe, protected, and heard when an injustice like this occurs. By pursuing these cases vigorously, we not only seek justice for victims but also work to safeguard our entire community from those who would prey on children." Bhagwagar was the co-pilot aboard Delta Flight 2809 when federal agents and Contra Costa Sheriff's deputies stormed the cockpit after the plane arrived at the gate upon landing at SFO Saturday evening, removing him in front of stunned passengers and crew members. Bhagwagar is being held on $15 million bail at the Martinez Detention Facility. His arraignment is scheduled for 1:35 pm in Martinez on Wednesday. Jail records do not show a bail amount for the female suspect.
