'I saw Oasis' first comeback gig - and one thing proves real reason for reunion'
Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher performed their first live show together in 16 years in Cardiff on Friday, as part of their 41-date comeback tour
The Oasis brothers will make a reported £400million for the tour
On Friday, a sold-out crowd of 75,000 Oasis fans gathered together to watch the pair's first gig since 2009 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Belting out their greatest hits from Wonderwall to Supernova, videos show the crowd in high spirits as they embraced the moment they've all been waiting for.
It was 16 years ago that Noel Gallagher quit the band after a backstage fight with his brother Liam, and the siblings had struggled to make amends from that moment on.
During their separate music paths, Noel went on to front his band High Flying Birds while Liam formed Beady Eye.
In what some believed was fake news at first, the siblings sent fans wild in August 2024 when they announced their long-awaited reunion.
This came after Noel reportedly turned down a £100million deal for a reunion, and insisted it would only happen in the form of a hologram.
Fast forward 11 months, and it's finally happening. The pair's opening show in Wales is just one of 41 shows in their schedule.

Guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs stood between the Oasis brothers on stage
Following their first gig, many critics and attendees have shared their thoughts, and the reviews have mostly been positive.
According to one concertgoer however, the pair's gig was everything the fans had hoped for, though one thing was obvious.
The Guardian's Alexis Petridis claims there was distance between the brothers on stage, which seemingly proves that the reunion is solely a cash opportunity.
Alongside his five out of five star rating, he wrote: "No one, including, to their immense credit, Liam and Noel Gallagher, is interested in pretending this tour is anything other than a hugely lucrative cash-grab, and clearly you only grab the maximum possible cash if the tour doesn't descend into the kind of bedlam to which Oasis tours were once prone."
He added: "Liam and Noel have rhythm guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs stood squarely between them on stage, creating distance.
"You could say that removes a hint of their old combustibility, the hint of potential chaos that was at least part of Oasis' appeal."
While there may have been some distance on stage, videos show the brothers clasping hands as they walked onto the stage, a moment nobody thought they'd see again.

During the show, Liam also thanked fans for "putting up with" them, adding: "I know we're hard work."
With reported earnings of £400 million for the tour, it's no wonder that the pair couldn't refuse the offer.
This eye-watering sum is an estimated total of ticket sales, merchandise, as well as the likes of sponsorship deals.

Some tickets for the gigs have cost fans over £800 to attend, sparking fury amongst concertgoers.
Addressing the expensive tickets on stage, Liam joked: 'You're all having a good time yeah? Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for a ticket?'
The Oasis brothers will perform at Cardiff again this evening, before heading to Heaton Park in Manchester for five performances on July 11, 12, 16, 19, and 20.

He said: 'They united an entire nation in Cardiff that spanned generations and gave the crowd something that is almost too incredible to put into words. "Liam, Noel and the band had the entire stadium rocking.' Best Oasis gig the story! By Dominic Mohan, Former Editor of The Sun KENTISH Town 1994. Earl's Court 1995. Maine Road and Knebworth 1996. Now add Cardiff Principality Stadium 2025 to that glimmering list. Friday night's unveiling of the unforeseen Live '25 tour is right up there in the pantheon of classic Oasis shows I've been privileged to witness over the past 31 years. This is the best I've seen Oasis since 1997. I know it's a big call, but I'm making it. Let's analyse why. There is no new material to promote so this was a brazen playlist of Oasis anthems. One of the biggest worries ahead of these shows was Liam's voice. Fear not. His vocals sounded more honed than they have for many years. The outfits are the same and the swagger is still there but his engagement with the audience more courteous and respectful. Outside, it felt like the build-up to a World Cup knockout game. Lager-swilling once-lads dominated proceedings but there were also starry-eyed young men and women seduced by a Gallagher onslaught for the first time. Witnessing the feuding brothers then stepping on to the sweeping stage is something that will live long in the memory, the Cardiff roar heralding the burying of the hatchet. What a moment — and one I felt I had to witness after documenting the highs and lows of Oasis for The Sun, over 30 years. It felt like this was a climax to 16 years of soul-searching since the brothers split. And the climax of Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova is one of the greatest closing trilogies in modern music. We were left spellbound after witnessing the biggest British rock reunion of all time, likely never to be eclipsed. That's the story.

Noel Gallagher's girlfriend supporting Oasis at gig as ex-wife Meg returns home
Oasis singer Noel Gallagher's ex-wife, Meg Mathews, was in attendance at the reunion gig in Cardiff on Friday evening Oasis took to the stage for their first performance in 16 years on Friday night, with the band's family, friends and army of fans rushing to get the best view of Liam and Noel Gallagher at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Noel's ex-wife, Meg Mathews, was spotted on Friday cheering for her ex. She was seen arriving yesterday, with a source telling the Mirror: "After posting about her ex-husband for weeks, Meg Mathews had a prime seat for watching the band. She was in great spirits before the set, watching Richard Ashcroft with pals." However, she was seen making a swift exit before the encore and was seen departing the show before the band came back to sing some of their biggest songs including Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. Meg shared several clips of the concert, writing "What a night" over an official video of the crowd. On Saturday evening, she took to her Instagram Stories to share a video of her and Noel embracing each other. Along with a heart emoji, she wrote: "Love you nai nai." Not long after, Meg returned to post a snap of her posing with her dog as she revealed to fans she returned to her home in Cornwall. Meg might be back home, but Noel still has the support of his girlfriend Sally Mash, who was spotted at the VIP section of the stadium this evening. Noel and Sally have kept their relationship lowkey after they began their relationship almost two year ago following his split from second wife Sara MacDonald back in 2022 after 12 years of marriage. Sally runs a private members' club in Chelsea, west London, and previously sells luxury holidays to a list of rich clients. She once worked for a company that chartered private jets and handled VIPS for the Queens Park Rangers. Noel briefly discussed his relationship with her to The Sun's Bizarre column, saying: "She's a good woman. She doesn't show up often, but it was nice to see her [at the Royal Albert Hall]. "She says she sees a steely look in my eyes. She's looked into my eyes countless times down the years. "I've punched above my weight several times in my life, and I think if you can make a girl laugh the battle is more than won." He added: "I mean, when you drop your trousers, you'd rip them off and show them the little nubbin of fury. If they do laugh, you're halfway there for a peck on the nubbin."
