Blackpink's New Song ‘Jump' Is About the Power of a Night Out With the Girls

Elle3 days ago
On Saturday, Blackpink kicked off their Deadline World Tour in Seoul, surprising fans with a brand new track titled 'JUMP.' The fast-paced anthem is an ode to a night out with the girls and a very catchy dance song. The lyrics celebrate going wild with your friends because a certain unspecified someone just can't keep up.
They had an extensive setlist with their well-known hits as well, including tunes from the members' solo albums.
The song begins with Rosé and Jisoo narrating to a person, perhaps an old flame, explaining that wild feeling that takes over at times, especially in a relationship:
Then Jennie and Lisa come in with a chorus encouraging everyone to run up on the dance floor and JUMP:
The second verse is about sisterhood and never parking on the dance floor, leading to liberation:
The chorus repeats before adding more to the theme of women dancing and jumping their feelings out:
Finally, Blackpink promises, 'In your area, area.'

Rosé Returns To The Hot 100 And Passes BTS Star Jin In The Process

Rosé earns her fourth solo Hot 100 hit with 'On My Mind' alongside Alex Warren, which this week ... More debuts at No. 60. She passes Jin as she returns to the tally. (Photo by River Callaway/WWD via Getty Images) WWD via Getty Images Rosé has maintained a constant presence on the Hot 100 for months now, thanks to her Bruno Mars collaboration "Apt." That tune has turned out to be one of the most successful songs in American history by a K-pop musician, and it's still performing very well to this day, long after it peaked in historic positions. As it nears a year on the competitive tally, "Apt." lives inside the top 40 on the Hot 100. Meanwhile, Rosé's new duet with rising star Alex Warren, "On My Mind," arrives on that main chart, as well as a variety of other Billboard rankings. Its debut helps Rosé advance again on the list of the most successful K-pop acts in the United States. "On My Mind" opens at No. 60 on the Hot 100 this week, giving Rosé her fourth solo win on the list of the most popular tracks in America. While it's the newer of the two, "On My Mind" comes in dozens of spaces behind "Apt.," which manages to lift this frame, moving up one spot to No. 27. With her fourth career hit on the Hot 100, Rosé breaks out of her tie with BTS star Jin. Both acts had recently claimed a trio of successes, but now Rosé has pulled ahead and tied with another member of the same group. Suga, who also releases music under the name Agust D, has also accrued four placements on the Hot 100 aside from his work with BTS. Now, they're matched for the eighth-most hits among K-pop solo stars on the all-encompassing chart. Looking only at soloists from the K-pop space, J-Hope continues to lead the charge with eight Hot 100 smashes — twice as many as Rosé has now earned. In between the BTS rapper and Rosé and Suga are Jung Kook (with seven Hot 100 appearances), Jimin, Jennie, V and Lisa (six each) and Psy (five). Radio Airplay Fuels Rosé and Warren's New Duet "On My Mind" reaches the Hot 100 thanks to a mix of streams, sales, and attention at radio, though the track doesn't manage to debut on either the Digital Song Sales or Streaming Songs rankings. The collaboration does launch inside the top 40 on both the Adult Pop Airplay and Pop Airplay charts, as it seems that spins across a variety of pop radio formats are largely to thank for Rosé and Warren reaching the Hot 100.

ABOUT BLACKPINK BLACKPINK is a girl group from YG Entertainment consisting of JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA. BLACKPINK, who captivated the public at the same time as its debut single [SQUARE ONE] was released in August 2016, has since become the world's top girl group by making big hits with each song released such as 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' and 'Kill This Love'. Thanks to this success, BLACKPINK became the first Korean girl group to be invited to the Coachella Festival, the largest music festival in the United States, in both 2019 and 2023, establishing an unrivaled position in the global music market. In October 2020, BLACKPINK won trophies at numerous awards ceremonies by hitting various global charts, including the U.S. Billboard, with their first full-length album 'THE ALBUM'. In particular, the album became the first million-seller of the female K-pop group in history, reaching the record of 1.3 million copies of sales volume. BLACKPINK then wrote a unique new history with their second full-length album [BORN PINK], which was released in 2022. The album has set the record of 2.82 million copies of sales volume, letting BLACKPINK the honor to have the title as the first K-pop girl group to become a 'double million-seller'. The album also topped the U.S. Billboard 200 and the U.K. official album charts at the same time. This is the first achievement of an Asian female artist and also is the first milestone in 21 years among every girl group around the world. Moreover, since October 2022, BLACKPINK [BORN PINK] tour, which has been held 66 times in 34 cities for about a year, drew 1.8 million audiences. This is the highest figure ever for a KPOP girl group. If the Coachella Festival in which the girls performed as the first Asian headliner (250,000 total) and Hyde Park in the U.K. (65,000) are added, they have worked with 2.115 million music fans. BLACKPINK's influence as a global top artist is getting stronger day by day. They have expanded their influence through continuous collaboration with global pop stars, and all four members are active as ambassadors for famous fashion and beauty brands as representative style icons leading the trend. In addition, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK's official YouTube channel surpassed 97 million, ranking first in the field among both male and female artists around the world. In July, BLACKPINK makes history as the first K-pop girl group to perform at Goyang Sports Complex. The group will embark on a large-scale world tour, with 31 concerts across 16 cities in stadium venues throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. The quartet also announced the release of a new song in two years and eight months, a move expected to further cement their status as a top global act ABOUT COMPLEX Complex is the definitive platform for global youth culture and music lifestyle, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge content, commerce and live experiences with unparalleled scale.
