Saweetie Announces New Track ‘Boffum' Ahead of Australian Tour

Yahoo11-07-2025
Saweetie is about to make her long-awaited debut on Australian stages, with a new single set to drop just days before the ICY Queen brings her chart-topping hits down under.
The rapper announced this week that 'Boffum' will arrive on July 18, coinciding with her first-ever Australian headline run, which kicks off in Perth on July 30. She also shared a teaser of the track via Instagram on Friday (July 11).

The Australian tour marks another major career milestone for the Bay Area-born artist, who has spent the past year performing on some of the world's biggest stages. Saweetie headlined high-profile festivals across the U.S., including Rolling Loud and Coachella, where she delivered a set packed with fan favorites and surprise collaborations.
Saweetie's popularity in Australia has been proven over the years, with singles such as 2020's 'Tap In' and 2021's 'Best Friend' both hitting the top 40, while 2019's 'My Type' reached the top ten of the Australian Hitseekers chart. In late 2024, she also dropped 'NANi,' which peaked on Billboard's Rhythmic Airplay.
Joining Saweetie on the road is rising Australian star Amarni, who was tapped as the official support act for the tour. Hailing from Melbourne, Amarni has been gaining attention with her unapologetic sound and genre-blurring tracks. Her latest single 'Hu$tler' arrived earlier this month and has already made waves on streaming platforms, showcasing the bold energy she'll bring to the stage as she opens for Saweetie's four Australian dates.
The tour, presented by Primuse Entertainment and Capital Touring, includes stops at Perth's Metro City, Brisbane's Eatons Hill Hotel, Melbourne's The Timber Yard and Sydney's Roundhouse. Limited tickets remain via primuse.com.au.
Saweetie's Australian run comes as she continues working on her long-anticipated debut album, which is expected to drop later this year. 'Yeah, it's coming this year,' she told Billboard in February. 'I feel like it will really encompass who I've grown into over these past couple of years. Lots of stories to tell.'

Klay Thompson claims being ‘in love' with Megan Thee Stallion has improved his athletic abilities

Former Golden State Warriors player Klay Thompson is deeply in love with Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion — and even claims that their budding romance has improved his athletic abilities. Megan documented their recent golf date in Arkansas this week, sharing an over seven-minute-long video recap to Instagram and TikTok in which they take turns teeing off. 'Ever since I've been in love, my golf game's reaped all the benefits,' Thompson notes after tallying up the final score in the clip, which was posted Wednesday, July 23. He also refers to Megan as his 'good luck charm' while on the course. Thompson began doting on the 'Body' rapper long before they began playing, however. Megan began her video by explaining that she let Thompson pick her outfit for the date, having him show off a few options that he purchased for her. She ultimately opted for a white shirt and pink athletic skirt. 'You picked it. You think it's cute?' she asked Thompson while showing off the look on the golf course. 'Mm-hmm, you even got the cute shoes on and the shirt,' he replied. 'I did well, I'm really proud of myself.' The couple made their red carpet debut on July 16, arriving hand in hand to the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York. Hosted by Megan, the event raised funds for the foundation, which she founded to support underserved communities and honor her late parents. 'This is my first relationship where I've ever been with somebody who's genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy,' Megan told Page Six. 'I just never dated somebody like him before and I'm just grateful that he's here by my side and he feels the same way about me.' Megan and Thompson officially went public with their relationship earlier this month, when photos of the two holding hands after dining at Carbone in New York City made rounds online. Thompson spent 13 seasons with the Warriors, helping to lead the Bay Area team to four NBA championships before moving over to the Dallas Mavericks. Megan, a Texas native, wrapped up her 36-city 'Hot Girl Summer' tour last fall. She stopped at Chase Center, home of the Warriors, in June 2024. The previous summer, she performed at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park.

Jalen Williams responds back to social media haters who call him 'corny'

Growing up a Kobe Bryant fan, Jalen Williams recently paid homage to his basketball hero. Playing an entire playoff run with an injured wrist, the 24-year-old helped lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first NBA championship. When you win the Larry O'Brien trophy, you've earned all the bragging rights. Williams has taken advantage of that benefit. He's flexed the championship after being widely questioned on whether he was a good enough second-best player on a title contender. Williams took to social media to share a side-by-side photo of himself and Bryant. Both wore pajamas at the free-throw line to attempt a one-handed shot. The other hand was wrapped in a cast after surgery. As is the case for most social media posts with a social-media-savvy NBA star, there were some criticisms from fan accounts. The buzzword used in Williams' reply was "corny" as he compared himself to Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has quite a vocal fanbase. That's what happens when you win five rings on the NBA's marquee franchise. The 23-year-old received criticism for being a copycat. Of course, none of it matters in real life. What these anonymous accounts say online rarely reflects Williams' reality. He replied to an Instagram comment to show that. An account said they felt bad that the 24-year-old was flamed on social media for showing love to his favorite player of all time. He's never been shy about his fandom of Bryant since he arrived in the NBA. "tbh the same people calling me corny couldn't hold my water in real life, prolly would ask for a selfie if we was face to face," Williams wrote. That's probably a good way to view it if you're Williams. It comes with the territory of being one of the NBA's best players and recently winning an NBA championship. There will always be a section of fans who villainize him, even if they need to resort to off-court qualities like his personality or how he carries himself online. All you can do is shrug your shoulders and move on. The Thunder have dealt with what every NBA superteam has dealt with since the league was created. The only difference between now and the beginning is that social media platforms allow critics' voices to be louder.

Latin Mafia, Eslabon Armado, & More: Who Had the Best New Latin Music Release This Week?

This week, Billboard's New Music Latin roundup and playlist — curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features fresh new music, including collaborations by Latin Mafia and Omar Apollo; Elena Rose and Justin Quiles; and Mon Laferte and Conociendo Rusia, to name a few. On the groovy 'Hecho Para Ti,' Mexican indie band Latin Mafia and Indiana-native crooner Omar Apollo 'serve up a time-jumping cumbia pulled straight from your tío's VHS collection, while Apollo adds his signature blend of tender heartbreak,' Billboard Español's Isabela Raygoza describes. Co-produced by Tyler Spry, the track is an ode to failed love: 'If you're not going to love me, my love/ I'd prefer you hate me, sweetheart,' say the lyrics.
