48th edition of ‘Lala Raghubir Singh Hot Weather Cricket Tournament' displays show of talent and sportsman spirit
The finale of the tournament was played between Bal Bhawan Cricket Club and Sporting Cricket Club.
The tournament was won by the Bal Bhawan Cricket Club who made 432 runs. The team was awarded with a cheque of ₹2,50,000. Whereas Sporting Cricket Club, who played with determination and settled for 358 runs, received a cheque of ₹1,50,000 along with the runner-up trophy.
Additionally, Arpit Rana was named Man of the Match for his outstanding contribution of 156 runs and one wicket.
In addition, Rana was also declared the Best Batsman of the tournament for amassing a total of 386 runs, for which he received a cheque of ₹5,100.
Likewise, Arush Malkani was awarded the Best Bowler for bagging 11 wickets. He received a cheque of ₹5,100.
Lalit Yadav from Sporting Cricket Club won the title of 'Man of the Tournament' for delivering a stellar performance with 280 runs and 6 wickets.
He was awarded a trophy in the name of Pradeep Virender Singh and a cheque of ₹21,000.
Meanwhile, the event was attended by distinguished guests including Ashok Pratap Singh, Former President, Board of Trustees, Modern School who was the Chief Guest.
Other guests included Justice Mukul Mudgal, Chairman, SMC and Member, Board of Trustees; Ajay Verma, Chairman, SMC, RSJMS; Aditya Gupta, Treasurer, Board of Trustees, Modern School; Col. Vijay Chaddha, Member, Board of Trustees; and Dr. Arvind Lal, Member, SMC, Modern Schools.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Vijay Datta, principal of Modern School.

Whenever she comes to bowl, it always feels like she will take a wicket immediately. She has a good knowledge of her skills, so it feels good to have a conversation with her," she added. Rana acknowledged that while Charani and Goud may be short on international experience, their success in domestic cricket and the Women's Premier League has equipped them with the confidence to thrive at the highest level. 'In terms of international cricket, I would say there is less experience. But otherwise, they have got a lot of experience in domestic cricket. Kranti Goud has been doing really well, even in the WPL," she said. 'It's a very simple conversation with them – whatever confidence you show there, you have to do the same thing in international cricket." The Indian team, she added, is focused on the present challenge rather than being burdened by future goals like the World Cup. 'We are not thinking much about the future. Obviously, the World Cup is impending. It is an important year. But presently, what are we doing, what are we working on, and are we able to execute it or not? That is important." On her own bowling approach, Rana stressed the importance of partnerships over fixed roles. 'It's not important where you are bowling from. What's important is how you bowl in partnership. My mindset has always been to take wickets first, and we prepare ourselves in the nets in the same way. 'First of all, we go for wickets. But on the other hand, how you contain is also important – because when you contain, automatically there is pressure on the opponent, and that brings wickets," she added. India vs England: Spinners take centrestage in series decider
CHENNAI: As England opener and keeper Amy Jones held her nerve to take the hosts home in the second ODI, one of the stand out aspects of her unbeaten 57-ball 46 was the way she negated the Indian spinners. In many ways, the trio of Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana and N Shree Charani have been the X-factor of sorts for India throughout this tour. It started with a 3-2 T20I series win and has now arrived at Chester-le-Street for one last dance with India and England going up against each other to win the three-match ODI series. England head coach Charlotte Edwards has enjoyed the hard-fought contests. "It's been a brilliant series, I think from the Trent Bridge game, which feels like a long time ago, to now, I think it's been really competitive. Obviously disappointed we lost the T20I series. But I think, once the ODIs come around, this is a really important prep in terms of the World Cup. It's all to play for now in Durham, which we're all looking forward to. I think you want to be part of these sort of must-win games to win the series," Edwards told this daily in a conversation facilitated by Sony Sports Network on Monday. For England, the biggest challenge thus far has been tackling the Indian spinners. Contrary to the home side, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co have consistently fielded a spin-heavy side and reaped the results as well. It was evident during the T20Is and even more so in the first two ODIs. Out of the 71 overs India sent down across two games — the second ODI was a rain-curtailed one — 44 overs came from Rana, Sharma, Pratika Rawal and Charani. Each spinner has played a different role, bowling in different phases of the game. Rana feels that the communication between the trio has helped in terms of the planning and execution as she has taken three wickets in two games while operating at 3.3 runs per over.

Nitish Rana set to return to Delhi after poor stint with Uttar Pradesh
New Delhi [India] June 26 (ANI): Nitish Rana is poised to return to his home state, Delhi, after spending two domestic seasons with Uttar Pradesh (UP). The experienced batter has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and is expected to make the switch ahead of the upcoming domestic season, according to ESPNcricinfo. 'The experienced batter asked for an NOC and we have given it to him,' ESPNcricinfo was told by UPCA's chief executive officer Ankit Chatterjee 'He mentioned family reasons for his decision,' he said. Ashok Sharma, secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), confirmed that Rana had communicated his decision to the board and has already secured the required clearance from UP. 'However, DDCA has not yet received a copy of his NOC. Only after receiving the NOC, we can say anything about the chances of him playing for Delhi,' Sharma said, as quoted from ESPNcricinfo. Rana had been a part of Delhi's age-group and senior domestic setup until 2022. He moved to UP in 2023, where he was entrusted with leadership responsibilities. However, his time with the team did not live up to expectations. A dip in form last season saw him being dropped from both the one-day and first-class sides. In the 2024-25 domestic season, Rana featured in four Ranji Trophy matches for UP, managing just 150 runs across six innings, including a lone half-century. His return in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20s were also modest 111 runs in nine games at an average of 13.87 and a strike rate of 114.43. He played only two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy before being dropped due to continued inconsistency. As the Ranji Trophy resumed for its second phase in January, Rana was omitted from the squad. His struggles continued in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, where he represented Rajasthan Royals (RR). Before a calf injury ruled him out, he scored 217 runs in 11 innings, with two fifties but no consistent impact. Signs of a possible split with UP became clearer when he was not included in the auction list for this year's UP T20 League. In total, Rana played 10 first-class games for UP, scoring 447 runs with one century and two fifties. In seven List A matches, he managed just 72 runs, while his 16 T20 appearances yielded 314 runs, including two half-centuries. He also captained UP in six Ranji Trophy games and four Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures during the 2023-24 season, guiding them to one and three wins respectively. Rana's anticipated return to Delhi could be intriguing, particularly in light of an on-field spat last season with current Delhi captain Ayush Badoni during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, which required umpire intervention. Moreover, the competition for middle-order spots in the Delhi squad remains intense. If the DDCA officially accepts his NOC, Rana could also feature in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), slated to be held in August. (ANI)
