Oman Internship Fair announces results and plans for 2026

Muscat: The Advisory Board of the Oman Internship Fair convened this week to review the performance, outcomes, and lessons learned from the inaugural edition of the fair, which took place earlier this year. The event brought together over 350 interns and 60 participating companies, establishing it as one of the most comprehensive platforms for internship placement and youth-employer engagement in the Sultanate.
To date, approximately 85 interns have been selected from 247 shortlisted interns. Feedback surveys were distributed to both companies and student participants, with data currently being collated and will be updated.
The Oman Internship Fair 2025 was successfully held on April 21st at the Diplomatic Club. It was proudly presented by Europcar Oman, powered by the Oman American Business Council (OABC), and delivered in partnership with The Diplomatic Club, with strategic partners the British Business Forum (BBF) and INMECC, supported by Crowe, and in collaboration with leading academic institutions including Arab Open University, German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), and Majan University College.

Each Advisory Board member expressed optimism about the long-term potential of the initiative:
'This fair wasn't just an event—it was the beginning of a movement to bridge academia and industry,' said Nitin Sapre, Europcar Oman & Bahrain CEO. 'We're proud to be part of a platform that tangibly advances the career journeys of young Omanis.'
Rebecca Olson, CEO of OABC, shared 'At a follow up meeting to go over the event's results, the Executive Board learned of Omani students who had already received multiple offers from companies. This is just what we were hoping for, and we at OABC can't wait to be part of next year's event.'
Charm Majolica, Director of the Diplomatic Club, added, 'This was a showcase of how cross-sector collaboration can generate impact, especially for youth development in Oman.'
'We now have a framework we can build on,' stated Maggie Jeans, Founding Director of BBF. 'The data from this fair will inform stronger, more targeted efforts in the next edition.'
Davis Kallukaran, Managing Partner at Crowe and INMECC Director, remarked, 'Eighty five interns placed is a strong start. With feedback and follow-up, we can double that impact next year.'
Looking ahead, the Oman Internship Fair 2026 is already being planned and is scheduled to take place in the last week of January 2026. The organizers aim to expand the platform further with greater university engagement, improved employer matching tools, and ongoing support for interns and companies post-placement.
The advisory board will continue to monitor progress, with a follow-up report to be released later this year.

Muscat: Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, conducted a field visit to Al Dhahirah Governorate, during which he reviewed several vital development projects serving the marketing of fisheries, livestock production, and water resources in the Wilayats of Yanqul and Ibri. He was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture; Sheikh Saeed bin Humaid Al Harthi, Wali of Ibri; Engineer Salem bin Ali Al Amrani, Director General of Agricultural Resources and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate; a number of directors general and officials from the Ministry; and the Chairman of the Omani Agricultural Society. The visit included the fish market project in the Wilayat of Yanqul, which is currently in its final stages of completion. The Minister was briefed on the progress of the project and the market's components. This project is considered an important service project aimed at strengthening the fish marketing system in the Wilayat and enhancing the efficiency of seafood trade in a healthy and organised environment. The Minister also visited the water dam in the Dhahir Al Fawares area of Ibri, implemented through community partnerships, and observed the dam's positive impact in replenishing groundwater and protecting residential and agricultural areas from flood hazards. He listened to an explanation from specialists about the dam's performance and its role in improving water resource management in the region. The Minister also visited the Gulf International Company's table egg production project in Ibri. This project is one of the leading investment projects in the food security sector. Established in 2019, it is considered one of the largest projects in the Gulf region, spanning an area of 18 million square metres at an estimated cost of OMR26 million, with a daily production capacity of up to one million eggs. He was briefed on the production stages and technologies used in poultry farming, emphasising the importance of supporting these projects that supply the local market with high-quality food products. During his visit, The Minister affirmed that the Ministry continues to support development and investment projects that contribute to achieving food security and environmental sustainability, praising the efforts of the private sector and the effective partnership with the local community in the success of these initiatives that enhance food production.

RAM launches Executive Leadership Programme for public sector leaders

Muscat: Driven by its ongoing mission to develop national talent within the public sector, the Royal Academy of Management (RAM) recently launched the Executive Leadership Programme for Department Heads. Designed to strengthen capabilities through an advanced executive learning journey that is focused on leadership, management development, and institutional innovation, the strategic initiative targets senior public sector leaders. It is set to make a significant contribution to enhancing organisational performance across government institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. 'The launch of the Executive Leadership Programme for Department Heads represents a pivotal step in achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 by developing leaders with a renewed growth mindset capable of leading innovative, high-performance teams,' said Dr Fathiya Al Rashdi, Vice President for Programme Affairs at the Royal Academy of Management. She added, 'This comprehensive programme is designed to develop participants' leadership and management skills, enhance their understanding of institutional innovation, and enable them to adapt to the rapidly evolving work environment. The diverse learning modules will help build a new generation of government leaders capable of driving change and fostering innovation in the Sultanate of Oman.' The Executive Leadership Programme is designed for 30 participants, comprising department heads and their counterparts in supervisory roles across Oman's civil and military administrative apparatus. RAM's Executive Leadership Programme will feature five comprehensive modules designed to sharpen participants' leadership, management, and innovation capabilities. The programme begins by fostering a growth mindset and honing skills in leading oneself, teams, and organisations, alongside motivational leadership and negotiation skills. The second module explores executive innovation, focusing on creative thinking, innovation strategies, and adaptive leadership. Financial acumen is the focus area of the third module, which covers government budgeting principles, financial data analysis, investment strategies, and effective reporting. The fourth module delves into project and risk management strategies vital for successful programme execution. Finally, the fifth module will centre on project presentations, emphasising enhanced communication, confidence, and leveraging innovative presentation tools. The immersive learning journey will also include site visits, accelerator experiences, virtual reality activities, in-person training and mentoring sessions, and a hackathon featuring a distinguished group of experts and speakers. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to elevate their impact as resilient, strategic leaders who, among other skills and capabilities, can think creatively, apply innovation in their roles, build effective teams, develop innovative solutions, and enhance their communication and confidence to lead effectively and drive positive change within their organisations. With a clear strategic plan and an unwavering commitment to its mission, Royal Academy of Management continues to deliver a range of initiatives and programmes that address the requirements of diverse sectors and leadership communities across the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman: Digital transformation performance hits 80%

Muscat: The Government Digital Transformation Tahawul Programme (2021–2025) has registered an overall performance of 80% since its launch until the end of May 2025. The programme has achieved a notable increase of 19% this year compared to end of first quarter of last year, reaffirming the efficiency of the applicable strategies and levels of progress made in the digital and regulatory framework as an efficient tool for leading digital transformation in the Sultanate of Oman. The average digital readiness of government entities increased to 81% this year, an increase of 7%, recorded in June 2024. The digital infrastructure readiness at the government entities also increased to 86%. A total of 96% of targeted priority services have been simplified, including 381 services whose procedures were simplified through Manjam Labs for government process simplification. Nearly 74% of targeted services of priority have been digitalised. As a result 48 government establishments have completed over 11.4 million digital transactions from January to May 2025. Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shizani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology who is also Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Government Digital Transformation Programme said that the results and performance indices of Tahawul programme reflect the collective national efforts and the commitment of the government establishments in steadily heading towards a promising digital government. He also valued the level of institutional integration with the vision and objectives of the programme. He said that the Tahawul programme continues to boost the efficiency of the digital services and improvement of the basic structure and completion of digitalisation of more services The number of users of the portal of Tahawul totalled 35,746 and the number of applications of services completed through the portal amounted to 3,905 applications. It is worth mentioning that over 1,572 digital transactions have been authenticated through the electronic authentication system, during the first half of 2025.
