Boxing fans issue instant response to Tyson Fury comeback opponent
Fury has announced that he will be making a sensational return to the ring to face Usyk in a trilogy bout - but boxing fans have been left fuming with the news Tyson Fury has stirred up a storm among boxing fans after seemingly confirming trilogy showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. The 'Gypsy King' has been toying with the idea of a comeback, and on Wednesday evening, almost half a year since he declared his retirement, the 36-year-old confirmed at another return to boxing. Saudi boxing supremo, Turki Alalshikh, took to X - the platform formerly known as Twitter - to announce: "The 'Gypsy King' will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in have a rabbit to hunt!" Fury then shared this message on his own page, teasing, "Let's see what 2026 brings," accompanied by a string of dollar sign emojis and laughing faces. Fury has mockingly referred to Usyk as 'rabbit' before their previous encounters. The Morecambe brawler now claims that the trilogy fight is set for April 18, 2026, at Wembley Stadium. On Thursday morning, Fury posted on Instagram a promotional poster featuring himself and Usyk, captioned: "April 18, 2026 Wembley Stadium. The trilogy! UK. contact @spencerbrownmrgoldstar for tickets." Following the official announcement of the trilogy bout on Instagram, supporters were swift to voice their opinions, reports All Out Fighting. "Woohoo... The fight no one wants to see," one fan commented. Another added: "Don't really see the point in this trilogy. Fury could knock Usyk out first round and Usyk would still have the better record both in and out of the trilogy." A third responded: "Trilogies should only happen if there are questions that need to be answered from the first two fights. All the questions have been answered," whilst another remarked: "Just fight AJ ffs. No one wants to watch you lose again to Usyk." A fifth posted: "What's the point? Fought twice, well beaten twice." A sixth replied: "The fight nobody asked for," while another commented: "No way, we don't need this fight please." Fury initially lost to Usyk on points last May, before enduring another decision defeat back in December. The Brit's trilogy with the Ukrainian depends on the result of this month's heavyweight undisputed clash. Should 'Triple D' emerge victorious - Usyk may opt to trigger the immediate rematch which could scupper Fury's chances of a comeback. Earlier this week, the 36-year-old disclosed that the only bout that would inspire him to return is a trilogy fight with Usyk. "If I was going to come back I'd come back for Usyk," he said. "In England. That's the one I want immediately, that would be the fight I want next. In England for sure."

The 38-year-old Serbian tennis player is set to compete today (Thursday, July 3), but has already struck fans with a surprise. Notice of Djokovic's act emerged on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday, July 2 when he was seemingly viewed wrapping up a training stint. Despite his focus on the upcoming game, Djokovic found time to mingle with fans, showcasing his "true colours" in advance of the crucial match. An enthusiast posted on X: "Novak just finished his practice session and is now signing autographs to his army of fans." A brief video attached to the post captured hordes of people queued up eagerly to meet the tennis champion, who seemed eager to oblige them. The footage exhibits Djokovic genuinely engaging with devotees, signing merchandise and remaining with the crowd for a considerable duration. The fan rounded off with a subsequent post that simply acclaimed: "Nole Nole Nole." Content cannot be displayed without consent The sharing of the video prompted a wave of likes and admiration for Djokovic's kindness. His actions evidently displayed the extent to which he values giving back to his supporters. Article continues below Today (Thursday), all eyes are set to be on Djokovic's Wimbledon clash with British star Dan Evans, as they prepare to compete on the fourth day. Djokovic is aiming for another singles title following his initial victory over Alexandre Muller on Tuesday. Djokovic experienced an injury scare during his previous match, but is now ready to face another challenge against Evans, who will be supported by a home crowd on Centre Court. In the meantime, Britain's No. 1, Jack Draper, who also harbours grand ambitions of securing this year's Wimbledon trophy, is scheduled to step onto the court. The first match to occur is Djokovic vs Evans on Centre Court, and it's due to commence at 1.30pm. Following this, Iga Swiatek will compete against Caty McNally in the women's singles. The action will then proceed as Jannik Sinner squares off against Australian rival Aleksandar Vukic. It's shaping up to be another thrilling day at Wimbledon, with many keen to witness all the action. So far this week, reports suggest that some sports fans have been queuing for hours in an attempt to secure a seat at Centre Court. On Tuesday, Djokovic called for a doctor shortly after losing the second set of the match to France's Alexandre Muller. He appeared unwell following discussions during a medical break, and he was given a tablet to try and alleviate his symptoms. Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, regained his composure on the court, breaking Muller's formidable defence and claiming victory in 10 of the last 12 games following a medical timeout. He triumphed with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-2. Speaking on court about the ordeal, Djokovic suggested he might have had a stomach bug. Additionally, he commended the doctor's "miracle pill" for giving him the strength to push through the second round difficulties. "I went from feeling my absolutely best for a set and a half to my absolute worst for about 45 minutes," Djokovic remarked. Article continues below "Whether it was a stomach bug - I don't know what it is, but just struggled with that. The energy kind of kicked back after some doctor's miracle pills and I managed to finish the match on a good note."
