Watch: Huge elephant seal pays surprise visit to residents
A humongous elephant seal was caught roaming around a residential area in Cape Town, South Africa.
Residents of Gordon's Bay woke up on Tuesday (27 May) to find an unusual visitor waddling around their town, located nearly a kilometer away from the shoreline.
In the clip, the creature can be seen on the grass outside a property, with emergency service workers nearby.
A rescue operation was soon launched and the two tonne marine mammal was returned to the sea by the afternoon.
The Cape of Good Hope Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) described the operation on Facebook as a 'delicate, hours-long rescue involving multiple agencies, a concerned community, and a very big seal'.

Commenters on Reddit, some of them experienced golfers took longer than they cared to admit locating the golf ball. One even gave up before even attempting: 'No thanks I play this game for real, don't need to ruin my day by playing it here too but good luck' Others gave up early, making jokes instead of finding answers: 'Right there! Next to the rock,' said one user. 'It's in my pocket. Then in the grass as you look away. Found it,' joked another. A few people tried their hardest and still couldn't find the ball: 'I mean it's in there somewhere. Pretty sure.' The handful that found it were frustrated by the end: 'Once I found it I can't fathom why it took me so long.' Did you fare better than the the Reddit investigators? Of course, after glancing over every single rock and pebble, you're bound to solve the illusion eventually. The eerily circular rock at the edge of the grass, midway up the photo, is no rock after all, but the missing golf ball. I have far too much practice finding my golf ball in the worst of locations.'
