Superman Box Office Collection Day 3: James Gunn's Film Soars With Rs 25 Crore Weekend

Last Updated: Superman's latest film by James Gunn had a smashing start, earning Rs 7 crore on Day 1. By Day 3, it soared to Rs 25.50 crore due to great word-of-mouth and packed shows. The Man of Steel is flying high once again with James Gunn at the helm. Superman, starring David Corenswet in the iconic cape, has had a strong start at the box office, raking in Rs 25.50 crore over its first weekend. The film opened with an impressive Rs 7 crore on Day 1 and kept the momentum going. By Day 3 (Sunday), it added another Rs 9 crore to its total, thanks to packed evening and night shows in major cities. As per early estimates from Sacnilk, Superman brought in Rs 9 crore on its third day at the box office. The English version recorded an overall occupancy of 33.04 per cent, with evening shows drawing the biggest crowds at 44.69 per cent. Going by the numbers, Superman is also the third-best opening for a Hollywood film in India in 2025 after Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning and the Scarlett Johansson-starrer Jurassic World: Rebirth. As expected, the film is performing strongly in premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX, with the biggest revenue coming from urban regions. In comparison to other big Hollywood releases in recent times, Superman has outperformed Brad Pitt's racing films, F1, Final Destination: Bloodlines, as well as Captain America: Brave New World. Alongside David Corenswet as the new Superman, the film features a star-studded Hollywood cast including Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Milly Alcock. This fresh take on the superhero doesn't revisit the usual origin story. Instead, it explores a younger Clark Kent navigating the tricky balance between his Kryptonian roots and his human upbringing. The film dives into his early years, tackling everything from a PR crisis and a personal identity struggle to his growing feelings for Lois Lane, all while facing off against a menacing Lex Luthor. In India, the film underwent a few changes before its theatrical release. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested several edits, including trimming a 33-second kissing scene between David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. According to Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC also directed the studio to remove all explicit language. One particular 8-second sequence involving a slang gesture was cut and replaced with a two-second alternate shot to make the film suitable for Indian audiences. Superman Earns Rs 32 Crore In First Weekend, Becomes Top DC Opener In India

Last Updated: By the end of the first weekend, Superman collected Rs. 32 crores across 3037 screens, marking the biggest opening weekend for a DC film in India. The Man of Steel is flying high once again as James Gunn 's Superman broke records, becoming the highest-grossing Superman film of all time in India, alongside being one of the few DC movies in recent years to cross the $100 million mark at the domestic theatre. Superman marks a crucial film for Warner Bros. and DC Studios, as it is the first step in a 10-year plan to reboot the DC Universe. As per Sacnilk reports, Superman had a record-breaking opening weekend in India. On the opening day, James Gunn's film earned an estimated Rs. 7 crores at the domestic box office, and by the end of the first weekend, the film collected Rs. 32 crores (gross) across 3037 screens, marking the biggest opening weekend for a DC film in India. Superman also recorded the third-highest opening for a DC movie in the country after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Batman. James Gunn's Superman is also soaring high at the international box office. As per Variety reports, the film collected $122 million in North America across 4135 theatres and earned $95 million from 79 international markets, marking a global opening of $217 million. Domestically, the film surpassed Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, which collected $116.7 million, to become the biggest-ever launch for a solo Superman film. Among all the releases so far this year, Gunn's Superman is the third film to debut above the $100 million mark, securing a place right behind Warner Bros's own Minecraft Movie and Disney's live-action Lilo & Stitch, which collected $162.8 million and $146 million, respectively. The film has also outperformed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to become Gunn's second-best domestic opening, trailing behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which collected $146.5 million. Gunn's Superman features David Corenswet as Superman, or Clark Kent, marking a significant departure from Henry Cavill's portrayal of the character. The film features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Alongside them, the film casts a versatile lineup of actors, including Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Isabel Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, and Anthony Carrigan, among others. Gunn's direction and the film's star-studded cast contributed to its robust success. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. When Saroja Devi called MGR ‘anbu daivam' while talking about their bond; revealed why she never remarried after husband's early demise

With the passing of B Saroja Devi, South Indian cinema has lost one of its most cherished silver screen icons. At the same time, her demise has also taken away a major part of the legacy of actor-turned-politician MG Ramachandran (MGR). Interestingly, MGR and Saroja Devi were one of Indian cinema's most iconic on-screen pairs, often mentioned alongside other legendary duos like Raj Kapoor–Nargis Dutt, Dilip Kumar–Vyjayanthimala and Prem Nazir–Sheela. Besides sharing the screen in films like Nadodi Mannan (1958), Paasam (1962), Deiva Thai (1964), En Kadamai (1964), Thaayin Madiyil (1964), Panakkara Kudumbam (1964), Enga Veettu Pillai (1965), Nadodi (1966), Anbe Vaa (1966), Naan Aanaiyittal (1966) and Arasa Kattalai (1967), among others, Saroja Devi also held immense respect for MGR. According to The Hindu, although the two actors had a falling-out in 1967 due to a misunderstanding and never worked together again, their respect for each other remained unchanged. In fact, Saroja Devi once referred to MGR as her 'anbu daivam', underscoring the deep admiration she had for MGR. 'When he introduced me in Nadodi Mannan, I was so naïve. He took care of me so well and used to give advice and tips while acting. After that, we have acted together in several films. Without MGR, there's no Saroja Devi!' she shared during a 2016 conversation with Deccan Chronicle. Recalling her visits to MGR's famous house, Ramavaram Thottam, Saroja said: 'I have gone to his house several times and had food there. The house used to be always cool with its red oxide flooring. There won't be a separate dining table, and there will be a long bench instead. I consider it a temple and believe that MGR still lives there'. During the same conversation, B Saroja Devi also revealed why she did not remarry after the sudden demise of her husband, Shri Harsha, an engineer by profession. They tied the knot in 1967 in an arranged marriage ceremony and were together until Harsha passed away in 1986. 'After my husband's demise at a young age, a lot of people told me to remarry. I said 'no' and I couldn't think of anyone else in his place. I was confident that I could manage my life without a male companion,' she added. Saroja Devi passed away at the age of 87 on Monday following an age-related illness. She breathed her last at her residence in Malleswaram, a neighbourhood in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
