Superman Earns Rs 32 Crore In First Weekend, Becomes Top DC Opener In India
By the end of the first weekend, Superman collected Rs. 32 crores across 3037 screens, marking the biggest opening weekend for a DC film in India.
The Man of Steel is flying high once again as James Gunn 's Superman broke records, becoming the highest-grossing Superman film of all time in India, alongside being one of the few DC movies in recent years to cross the $100 million mark at the domestic theatre. Superman marks a crucial film for Warner Bros. and DC Studios, as it is the first step in a 10-year plan to reboot the DC Universe.
As per Sacnilk reports, Superman had a record-breaking opening weekend in India. On the opening day, James Gunn's film earned an estimated Rs. 7 crores at the domestic box office, and by the end of the first weekend, the film collected Rs. 32 crores (gross) across 3037 screens, marking the biggest opening weekend for a DC film in India. Superman also recorded the third-highest opening for a DC movie in the country after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Batman.
James Gunn's Superman is also soaring high at the international box office. As per Variety reports, the film collected $122 million in North America across 4135 theatres and earned $95 million from 79 international markets, marking a global opening of $217 million. Domestically, the film surpassed Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, which collected $116.7 million, to become the biggest-ever launch for a solo Superman film.
Among all the releases so far this year, Gunn's Superman is the third film to debut above the $100 million mark, securing a place right behind Warner Bros's own Minecraft Movie and Disney's live-action Lilo & Stitch, which collected $162.8 million and $146 million, respectively. The film has also outperformed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to become Gunn's second-best domestic opening, trailing behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which collected $146.5 million.
Gunn's Superman features David Corenswet as Superman, or Clark Kent, marking a significant departure from Henry Cavill's portrayal of the character. The film features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Alongside them, the film casts a versatile lineup of actors, including Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Isabel Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, and Anthony Carrigan, among others. Gunn's direction and the film's star-studded cast contributed to its robust success.

Saiyaara Advance Booking Update: Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's musical breaks loose with HISTORIC presales; Sells 90000 tickets in top chains with 1 day to go
Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda is still selling tickets at an insane pace. The film has sold 90,000 tickets in top chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for the opening day as at 11pm, a day and an hour prior to its release. If Saiyaara continues to sell tickets at this pace, it will have sold 175,000 tickets or so in top national chains by the end of its advance bookings. Saiyaara Sells Over 90,000 Tickets In Top Chains With A Day And An Hour To Release Day The advance bookings point towards an opening in the north of Rs 15 crore and perhaps even Rs 20 crore. If the Mohit Suri film doesn't hit Rs 20 crore, that will be because of its limited release. The film is releasing in 1,750 screens in India while a film doing Rs 20 crore or more on day 1, generally has 3,500 or more screens. The makers are perhaps cautious and are focusing more on the occupancy than the collections. It is better to have a full theatre than a theatre with less occupancy. Saiyaara Has Discount Offers But... There is a discount offer for the first day. But these coupons can boost the film's numbers by a maximum of Rs 1-2 crore and not more. There are many films that opt for this offer but that doesn't mean that all of them get the collections they desire. Release rival Tanvi: The Great has a running discount offer too but there will be a stark difference in the opening day of both the films. Saiyaara's Bookings Are Unprecedented What we are seeing for Saiyaara is truly something you don't see too often. A phenomenon like this for a debutant was last seen during Refugee, which was a record opener. While Saiyaara won't be a record opener, it's impact shall be seen as no less than the Abhishek Bachchan film because getting people to theatres is more difficult than it has ever been. Saiyaara In Theatres Saiyaara hits theatres on 18th July. Advance bookings are now open. You can book tickets, either from the box office or from online ticketing applications. Maalik India Box Office Day 6: Rajkummar Rao's gangster film collects Rs 1.50 crore on Wednesday, approaches Rs 20 crore mark
Rajkummar Rao's latest release, Maalik, is heading towards an unfortunate end at the box office. The mass-action drama, directed by Pulkit, has recorded another low business day as ticket prices came back to normalcy on Wednesday. Maalik collects Rs 1.50 crore on Day 6, cume approaches Rs 20 crore mark Bankrolled by Tips Industries and Northern Light Films, Maalik collected Rs 1.50 crore on its 6th day at the Indian box office, taking the total cume to Rs 19.35 crore net. The movie will wrap its opening week by surpassing the Rs 20 crore mark. One must note that Wednesday turned out to be its lowest day as per theatrical returns. The movie had a decent start of just Rs 3.60 crore. It further witnessed a low growth over the weekend and wrapped it at Rs 14.60 crore, with Rs 5.25 crore grabbing on both Saturday and Sunday. Maalik fell flat on its first Monday and could only add Rs 1.75 crore. It saw a minor jump on Tuesday, thanks to the discounted ticket prices. Day-wise box office collections of Bhool Chuk Maaf are as follows: Maalik couldn't match Bhool Chuk Maaf, set to face Saiyaara Maalik remained far behind Rajkummar Rao 's previous release, Bhool Chuk Maaf. The Maddock Films' production venture had grabbed Rs 37 crore in just 5 days of its run and ended up being a success story in India. However, looking at the current trends of Maalik, it won't be wrong to say that the ship is sinking. The Pulkit-directed movie failed to impress the audience; thus, the result is appalling. The commercial gangster drama will now face Saiyaara from this weekend, which is expected to give it a massive dent at the box office. Maalik plays in theaters Maalik is currently playing in theaters. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates. Disclaimer: The box office figures are compiled from various sources and our research. Krypto's real superpower? James Gunn's Superman sparks 500% surge in shelter dog adoptions
James Gunn's Superman might put David Corenswet front and centre, but it's Krypto the superdog who's stolen the spotlight — and hearts. Inspired by Gunn's own rescue dog Ozu, Krypto has sparked a huge rise in dog adoption interest. Google searches for adopting dogs have soared, shelters are busier, and Warner Bros. even waived fees to help pups find homes. Krypto's clumsy loyalty has reminded people that rescue dogs need care long after the credits roll. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Numbers that speak for themselves Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads A helping hand from Hollywood David Corenswet may wear the cape in James Gunn's Superman, but it's Krypto who's changing lives outside the cinema. He's not just the Man of Steel's sidekick — he's become an unexpected hero for real dogs in need of the film, Krypto is chaotic and half-trained but always loyal, lending Superman a paw in battle. 'This film has been a barrage of blessings for me: this one may be the greatest,' Gunn said on social media, reacting to what Krypto has isn't pure fiction. He's based on Gunn's own rescue dog, Ozu. Gunn adopted Ozu while writing Superman and soon found himself at the mercy of a spirited pup who shredded furniture and even bit his feet. That chaos planted a thought: what if this dog had superpowers? And so, Krypto was born — a Terrier-Schnauzer mix with a digital didn't just laugh at Krypto's antics — they took action. According to The Wrap, dog training app Woofz reported that Google searches for 'adopt a dog near me' rocketed by 513% after the film's opening weekend. 'Rescue dog adoption near me' jumped 163%. People even looked up his breed, sending searches for 'adopt a schnauzer' up by 299%.'Adoption is a real commitment. The hype will fade, but your dog will stay, so make sure you're ready to give them the time, care, and training they need and deserve,' said Natalia Shahmetova, CEO of nudge people from idea to action, Warner Bros . teamed up with Best Friends Animal Society and covered adoption fees from 1 to 10 July. The result? 454 animals found new homes across the US before Superman even hit its opening isn't Gunn's first rescue mission for animals. In 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was praised by PETA for exposing the horrors of animal testing. Now, Superman is nudging audiences to think about shelter dogs and what they need long after the credits Krypto's story doesn't end there. Spoiler alert: in Superman, we learn he's actually being looked after by Clark Kent on behalf of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. By the end, a slightly worse-for-wear Supergirl (Milly Alcock) turns up at the Fortress of Solitude to collect her dog, setting Krypto up for a return in next year's DC Studios, led by Gunn and Peter Safran, maps out its big new chapter — starting with 'Gods and Monsters' — Krypto has quietly reminded everyone that heroics don't always look like capes and laser vision. Sometimes, they look like muddy paws and rescue shelters with empty is in cinemas now. If you see it, just be prepared — you might walk out wanting to adopt a dog too.
