'Significant seizures' of hard drugs after police raids in Llandudno
It comes as a new 'Clear Hold Build' policing team - made up of one sergeant and four officers, with another four set to join the team imminently, is launched to target anti-social behaviour and repeat offenders in the West Conwy area.
A North Wales Police statement said: "Warrants executed at two addresses in the Llandudno area have resulted in significant seizures of Class A drugs and cash.
"Officers from the NPT [Neighbourhood Policing Team] and Clear, Hold, Build team conducted the warrants yesterday morning (Tuesday, 1 July), with valuable support from the Dog Unit. Mobile phones and an assortment of drug paraphernalia were also seized from the properties.
"As a result of yesterday's proactive warrants, three individuals are currently under investigation for Class A drug supply. The seizures made by attending officers are the latest in a series of co-ordinated drug warrants in the West Conwy area."
Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan, who leads the Clear, Hold, Build initiative for West Conwy, said: 'We will continue to target crimes which matter to people and will continue to listen to concerns.
'This targeted policing strategy reflects our determination to disrupt the flow of harmful and illegal drugs that devastate lives and communities.
'We continue to take a firm stance against drug supply and the harm it causes. Anyone seeking to profit from this kind of criminality should be aware—we are actively pursuing you and will work to bring you before the courts.
'Our efforts are not only focused on removing offenders from our streets but also on supporting those affected by addiction, safeguarding our communities, and strengthening public confidence.
'We fully understand the far-reaching impact of drugs—not only on individuals who use them, but also on families, young people, and innocent members of the public who may be affected by the violence and disruption linked to drug crime.'
Police also say the Clear Hold Build team has also arrested offenders for offences such as stalking and harassment, public order, domestic violence-related assault, drug driving, burglary, breach of restraining order and criminal damage. Arrests linked to high-value retail thefts across Conwy and Denbighshire have also been made, whereby the thefts involved stolen items in excess of £1,000.
A West Conwy Police statement added: "Anti-social behaviour is also being targeted, and youths have been taken home to their parents. Three youths have also been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and burglary. Six fail to appear/recall to prison arrests have been carried out by the team along with 25 stop searches.
"Officers have been involved with three drugs warrants – the most recent executed at an address in Llanfairfechan whereby drugs, cash and mobile phones were seized. One male was arrested, and he has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue. They have also been involved in a joint drugs operation with British Transport Police colleagues."

New CCTV partnership in Denbighshire towns celebrated
The event, held at Rhyl Town Hall, celebrated the official launch of the new CCTV partnership which has been in place since March 30. A joint partnership between Denbighshire County Council, Conwy County Borough Council, North Wales Police and the town councils of Denbigh, Prestatyn, Rhuddlan and Rhyl, the new system aims to make Denbighshire streets safer through upgrading existing aged public space CCTV cameras. £278,000 secured from the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund has funded 23 new Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) and 23 static cameras in Rhuddlan, Prestatyn and Rhyl, and a further two deployable cameras to provide a temporary option in areas that demonstrate a higher rate of antisocial behaviour. The partnership also benefits from an award-winning 24-hour reactive monitoring system through a central CCTV control room based in Conwy which will link directly to North Wales Police. For Rhyl West this supports the partnership initiative Project Renew that has been running since summer 2024. The addition of the new CCTV cameras will contribute to halting reoccurring crime and building resilience within the community. A spokesperson for the town councils said: "The introduction of further CCTV provision is a great benefit to our communities and will serve as a powerful tool in deterring criminal activity, enhancing public safety, and providing critical evidence for investigations. "The new partnership is a great example of local county, town and community councils working collaboratively to make the local community a safer place." Central area superintendent Lee Boycott said: 'I welcome the additional investment into CCTV provision in our local towns. "Not only is it an invaluable tool in fighting crime and keeping our communities safe, but it can also be a crucial evidential resource when bringing offenders to justice." Andy Dunbobbin, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales, commented: 'CCTV has a crucial role to play in fighting crime and I support local authorities and community councils across North Wales in their efforts to ensure coverage right across their communities in partnership with North Wales Police. 'CCTV can help our neighbourhood policing teams through identifying criminals and providing evidence, and it can also help provide reassurance to local residents and to our local businesses, thereby hopefully boosting our town centre economies. 'With all this in mind, it's very positive to see the investment in Denbighshire is making an increasing in CCTV provision in Rhyl, Prestatyn, Rhuddlan and Denbigh and I applaud them for their efforts. "I look forward to seeing the difference that this increased provision makes for the people of the area.' Cllr Geoff Stewart, Conwy's cabinet member for neighbourhood, environment & regulatory services, said: 'I'm delighted that we have been awarded the contract to manage the CCTV monitoring service for the Denbighshire CCTV Partnership. 'We're very proud of our state-of-the-art CCTV service. "Operating since 2018 from our secure purpose-built monitoring suite in Colwyn Bay, it's an award-winning service that meets the highest international standards. 'I think it makes sense that our closest neighbours benefit from this investment, and I look forward to working together to provide reassurance to residents, businesses and visitors across both counties.' Councillor Rhys Thomas, lead member for housing and communities and chair of the Denbighshire CCTV Partnership, said: 'The development of this partnership is something to really look forward to. We'd like to thank members who are involved in this partnership for their support through this process and are looking forward to continuing to work alongside them to make our communities safer. 'Part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness week is to highlight the concerns of our citizens and anti-social behaviour on our streets and we know that CCTV plays an important part in acting as a deterrent in criminal activity. 'We hope to see the partnership grow further and become more proactive across the county in the coming years so that CCTV makes a positive contribution to the local community.'

'Free Palestine' protesters graffiti attack on former Prime Minister's statue
A statue of former prime minister David Lloyd George was covered in red paint and had slogans daubed on it in an incident linked to "Free Palestine" protests. The graffiti attack happened overnight on Monday at the site on Y Maes in the centre of Caernarfon and in the shadow of the town's castle. As well as covering the statue in paint there were messages like "Zionist", "Free Palestine" and "Lloyd George is scum". It has since been removed with Cyngor Gwynedd and North Wales Police investigating the incident. Lloyd George, from Llanystumdwy, near Criccieth, is the only UK prime minister from Wales - holding the role from 1916-1922. He was PM in 1917 when the Balfour Declaration statement was made by the British government, expressing support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine. This was a pivotal moment in the creation of the state of Israel in 1947 after centuries of persecution for Jewish people around the world. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox This has been followed by decades of conflict in the region and the most recent violence erupted when Palestinian militants attacked Israel, killing 1,143 people and taking around 250 hostages - triggering the Gaza war. More than 56,500 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the territory's health ministry. It has sparked worldwide condemnation and protests over Israel's actions in the ongoing conflict amid "genocide" accusations. Caernarfon councillor Olaf Cai Larsen said: "It's unfortunate that Lloyd George's statue was painted with slogans overnight. "Most of the slogans were about what is happening in Gaza at the moment - and anyone who reads this Facebook page often will know that I am very worried about all the killing that is happening there. "But there are far better ways to express concern than defacing statues. For example a vigil is held at 6:30 every Sunday night on the Maes - a stone's throw from the Lloyd George statue. And there was a very powerful ceremony on Pool Street last Tuesday. "So - if you feel strongly about this important issue - how about Sunday evening?" On social media one person said: "Why do people do this? It's an historical figure. We cannot change history but we can learn from it. Times change, peoples mindsets change, it's just the way life is."
