DC Comics, Marvel announce new crossover comic with Batman, Deadpool
May 27 (UPI) -- DC Comics and Marvel have announced a new crossover comic book series featuring two of their most popular characters, Batman and Deadpool.
The collaboration starts in September with Marvel releasing Deadpool/Batman #1 by writer Zeb Wells (Amazing Spider-Man) and artist Greg Capullo (Batman).
DC Comics will then release Batman/Deadpool #1 by writer Grant Morrison (All Star Superman) and artist Dan Mora (Superman/Batman: World's Finest) in November.
Each issue will include a lineup of backup stories that feature other meetings between beloved DC and Marvel characters.
"I don't do many comics these days but there was no way I could turn down the chance to work with Dan Mora again, one of my all-time favorite artistic collaborators -- and definitely no way I could turn down Batman and Deadpool! Expect 4th wall busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades and at least one giant typewriter!" Morrison said in a statement.
The two comic book giants last collaborated in 2003 with the release of JLA/Avengers. A crossover also took place in 1996 with DC vs. Marvel.

Lego's Game Boy Model Is Pocket-Sized Perfection
We got you an early sneak peek at just one of Lego's new reveals for San Diego Comic-Con last night, but the brickmaker took to the convention floor to kick off SDCC 2025 in style with even more reveals. There's a lot to love, but the absolute highlight is the nostalgic joy of the company's new brick-built Game Boy. Alongside the new Stranger Things BrickHeadz collection (check out all those details here!), Lego came to SDCC with three major new product sets: the first is its previously teased Game Boy, joining the NES and other Lego Nintendo model kits in a near-perfect replica of the legendary handheld. Wicked: For Good fans also got to rejoicify over a whole line of new sets based on the upcoming movie (and let us be glad and grateful, as there were even some goodies for Wicked fans who aren't keen on minidolls). Then DC Comics fans were treated to the first-ever modular set to come to the superhero line: an updated spin on Gotham's most nefarious haunt, Arkham Asylum, bursting with bad guys. Check out all the details from Lego's latest releases below, including prices and when you can grab them. The 421-piece Game Boy set is an almost 1:1 scale replica of the real thing, right down to actual clickable buttons and moving dials for the system's volume and contrast settings (ah, the nostalgic perils of trying to play your Game Boy on a bright day). As well as a small display stand set, the Game Boy comes with two buildable game paks of some iconic handheld classics: Super Mario Land, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, both of which can be slotted into the cartridge slot on the console. Lego might not have been able to condense a functioning Game Boy emulator into the build, but the next best thing comes in the form of three functioning lenticular screens you can slot in: one depicting the classic Game Boy start-up screen, and then one each depicting moments from Super Mario Land and Link's Awakening in action. ($60, available to pre-order here for an October 1 release) Ahead of returning to Oz this November for the second part of the Wicked movie adaptation, Lego revealed six new sets inspired by For Good. Alongside a set of BrickHeadz models of Elphaba and Glinda inspired by their looks in the second movie, there were also several small minidoll sets replicating key scenes from the new film, including Glinda and Fiyero's wedding, returning to Munchkinland, and of course Elphaba's new abode in Kiamo Ko. But for Wicked fans who prefer traditional sets, there's good news too, as the crowning Wicked reveal was a Lego Art set, depicting a buildable image of the Emerald City and Oz. Clocking in at 1,518 pieces, the wall art includes spaces to store six included minifigures: primary display sections for minifigures of Elphaba and Glinda, and then a secret compartment hidden behind its depiction of Munchkinland to reveal Dorothy (and Toto), the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow. All the Wicked: For Good sets are due to release September 1. Rounding out Lego's SDCC reveals was a return to Arkham for the first time since the Lego Batman Movie sets. This massive 2,953-piece set includes a three-tiered buildable Arkham Asylum (and an inmate van, to boot) that has been designed to be able to connect to Lego's iconic modular city builds so you can bring Gotham to your burgeoning cityscape. Of course, the Asylum needs inmates and guards to manage them, and heroes to put them there in the first place, so it comes packed with a whopping sixteen minifigures, including Batman, Robin, Batwoman, Batwing, and Catwoman alongside two Arkham guards, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and the Riddler in their classic outfits, and Harley Quinn, Bane, the Penguin, Scarecrow, and Killer Croc in Arkham jumpsuits. The set is due to release September 9, but in a special twist, if you wanted to save this for the holidays to gift the Bat-loving Lego fan in your life, the new Arkham Asylum also includes steps to build the whole thing in a special 24-day Advent Calendar format. Sacha Baron Cohen stuns with jacked physique after Marvel debut: See his new look
Borat who? Sacha Baron Cohen is sporting a shockingly different look these days. As he enters the Marvel-verse as Mephisto, the notorious supervillain, Cohen has ditched his signature "confused comic" look for a figure that is well, jacked. On the cover of Men's Fitness U.K., Cohen shows off bulging biceps, a freshly shaven beard and an unmistakable 6-pack. That Cohen would go all in for his transformation is no surprise; he is perhaps best known for his tireless commitment to the bit, going full character-actor as Borat or Ali G, for the benefit of political satire. Cohen worked with celebrity trainer Alfonso Moretti to get in shape for his role in Marvel's "Ironheart," according to Men's Fitness. The comedian said his workout routine included 100 push-ups a day, while Moretti said his diet was "high fibre, low sugar, plenty of protein — nothing fancy, nothing extreme." On his Instagram story, the "Borat" star shared the Men's Fitness cover and joked, "This is not AI, I really am egotistical enough to do this." "Some celebs use Ozempic, some use private chefs, others use personal trainers," he wrote. "I did all three." In another Instagram story, Cohen joked he is "hard launching my mid-life crisis" and "debuting my new character: middle aged man who replaced beer with protein shakes." On July 1, Cohen made a surprise appearance in the Disney+ series "Ironheart" as Mephisto, who is essentially the Marvel comics equivalent of Satan. In the show, the main villain is revealed to have made a "deal with the devil" with Mephisto for his powers. The series' title character, Riri Williams, eventually makes her own bargain with Mephisto to bring back a loved one. It hasn't been confirmed when or where Cohen might return as Mephisto, but the character could have a major role in Marvel's future. In the comics, Mephisto has been involved in storylines connected to characters like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. Mephisto's on-screen debut was highly anticipated, but Cohen's casting had not been officially announced prior to his "Ironheart" debut. "He's one of the big, big, big bads in the comics that has a lot of tethers to characters that we've been working with for years, and also characters that we hopefully will work with in the future," Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, previously told USA TODAY. Winderbaum also teased Mephisto's possible big-screen debut, telling USA TODAY, "Without going into too much detail, the types of projects he will be in are not dependent on television."

File Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo July 24 (UPI) -- Marvel's Anthony Mackie talked about his first big stunt for the franchise when he stopped by The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday. The actor, 46, portrays the superhero Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, who stepped into the role of Captain America in Marvel's Cinematic Universe. He made his Marvel debut in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and has since starred in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the film Captain America: Brave New World. On Tonight, Mackie did not specify which project, but recalled how "they brought out a construction crane six stories in the air" for his stunt. He was picked up in a harness and instructed to flip as he fell, but instead he screamed and was replaced by a stuntman. "They go, 'Cut, alright let's get the stuntman. I don't think we need another take of this," he said. He confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday is in production. The film will arrive in theaters Dec. 18, 2026. "We are in the mix of shooting, yes," he told Fallon. The Twisted Metal actor also discussed his Emmy nominations for his roles in The Studio and Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie.
