Phillip Stokes filly Ferivia backs up trial form with super debut win at Murray Bridge
Settling handy in third, Ferivia sprinted powerfully at the 300m, shaking off fellow debutant Bardigrub, en route to a cruisy 3¾-length win in a Benchmark 66 (1000m).
The two-year-old daughter of Astern indicated raw talent in a Morphettville trial last week, defeating highly-touted stablemate La Roux.
Ferivia was crunched in betting, jumping as a $1.80 favourite (Sportsbet), and punters were handed a painless watch.
'The trial was very good, she's a horse that has kept improving this whole prep, every trial she's had, she's come on in leaps and bounds,' assistant trainer Kerrin Stokes said.
'We were confident today, but I thought there were a few horses with some nice ability as well, so maybe she's got something there. 'It never looked in doubt really, she's a horse that we feel does have ability, and she might just prove us right.'

A tilt at Morphettville's Lightning Stakes (1050m) on July 26 is no doubt enticing, the stable won the race with Buddy Bundy in 2014.
'We just wanted to get through today, we'll see how she pulls up, if she comes on with it – we might have to,' he said.
Neindorf, who also steered stablemate Noetzie ($3.40) to a commanding five-length win, has a big opinion of Ferivia.
'I did her last piece of work on Thursday, the feel she gave me those few times sitting on her, I wouldn't have expected anything less today,' Neindorf said.
'She's got a lot of depth, it's not the last time we'll see her in the winner's stall.
'She gave me a sensational feeling. She really extended her action, she's going to go quite a way this filly, she's got a fair bit of potential.'

Ferivia and Noetzie may be on a collision course, with Stokes revealing that Noetzie, a three-year-old by Harry Angel, may also head to the Lightning.
Both youngsters are owned by long-time Stokes supporters, the Brooks family, who also own Stokes' stakes-winning colt, Matagha.
Returning apprentice Alana Livesey found herself back on the winner's list, the hoop sustained a broken hand in a fall at Port Lincoln in March, and returned to race riding on Wednesday.
Livesey booted home a double aboard Harley'n'rose ($10) and Headphones ($16), while Victorian hoop Alana Kelly also nailed multiple winners on Fast Bubbles ($12) and Classy Kenny ($20).
Neindorf's double sees him trail Rochelle Milnes (43) by just four wins in the Adelaide jockeys' premiership, with two meetings remaining in the season. Neindorf sits equal second with Taylor Johnstone on 39 wins.
Stokes remains in control of the Adelaide trainers' premiership with 44 wins.

Across 14 VFL outings in his debut campaign, the 18-year-old has averaged 21.9 disposals and 4.5 tackles per game. He's managed six games with 25 or more possessions. If Camporeale's suspension stands, he will not be able to be selected for Carlton's upcoming fixtures with Melbourne, Hawthorn, Fremantle and Gold Coast.

Carlton star Jacob Weitering says his teammates need to motivate themselves with their bleak season getting worse
Carlton vice-captain Jacob Weitering says continually failing 'in front of millions' has turned up the heat on the club's underperforming leaders who need to rediscover their purpose fast. With pressure being diverted from embattled coach Michael Voss, who has the club's support to see out this season and least and the backing of his players, the focus has shifted to the quality of player performance. Weitering, the Carlton vice-captain, conceded he and his fellow senior players had not been 'up to the standard' through a four-match losing streak during which the Blues have been a combined 154-points behind their opponents. Finals hopes have been dashed but Weitering said there was no room for self-pity because more was at stake for a club with a huge supporter base which he knows deserves better. That has to start with himself and captain Patrick Cripps rather than asking the influx of younger players to carry the load. 'You succeed in front of millions and you fail in front of millions, and that's just the reality of the job,' Weitering said at the MCG on Monday. A-League: Western United under pressure to pay wages on time
Western United players may consider strike action if the embattled A-League club is late in paying them for a fourth successive month. Despite the players having been assured by the club they will be paid on Tuesday, this month's pay day, they are ready to take action – with the backing of Professional Footballers Australia – should the 'trust' be broken. 'The club has assured the players that this month's wages will be paid on time and in full, and we trust that the club will keep its word in this respect,' a PFA spokesman said. 'It would be extremely disappointing if this turns out not to be the case and the players are left, once again, to fight for their most basic employment entitlement.' Such is United's financial state that players haven't been paid on time for the past three months, leading to the PFA lodging breach of contract notices with the club. On each of the three occasions, players and staff were paid within a 14-day deadline given by PFA to pay or run the risk of losing contracted players to other clubs. However, should wages again be late, the deadline could be limited to just two days, which if not met could lead to not only industrial action but also a demand that sporting sanctions be placed on United. United's plight also includes the club's proposed $100m sale to KAM Melbourne not yet being approved by the Australian Professional Leagues – which runs the A-League – despite the club having announced in early May the acquisition of a controlling stake to the subsidiary of American company KAM Sports. Should the ownership deal be rejected, there are grave fears about United's ongoing existence. United's other problems also include being banned by FIFA from registering players. The sanction is slapped on clubs for 'various infractions, such as financial disputes or regulatory breaches', according to FIFA's website. It's understood United's ban relates to a dispute between the club and its former striker, Aleksandar Prijovic. The registration ban means that new United signing, former Sydney FC attacker Jaiden Kucharski, won't be able to play for the club in its Australia Cup clash with the Sky Blues on July 29 at Ironbark Fields unless the matter is resolved before then.
