North Dakota transfer G Treysen Eaglestaff commits to South Carolina
He shared the news on Instagram on Sunday.
Last season, Eaglestaff averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game as a junior. He was third in the Summit League in 3-point shooting, and he hit eight 3-pointers against South Dakota State on March 7 when he scored 51 points.
The 6-foot-6 North Dakota native had been pursued by other programs but chose the Gamecocks, who are coming off a disappointing 12-20 season, a year after finishing 26-8 and earning a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Gamecocks were 2-16 in Southeastern Conference play, losing 13 consecutive SEC games from Jan. 4-Feb. 18.
Eaglestaff marks the program's second transfer commit of the offseason. Christ Essandoko, a 7-footer who previously played at Providence, announced his transfer on social media on Saturday.

College football freshman, 18, tragically killed in shooting months out from debut season
Newberry College in South Carolina is in mourning after an incoming student was killed in a violent shooting over the weekend. Two people were killed and two more were injured at an apartment complex in the town of Kingstree, South Carolina when the shooting took place. Among those killed was 18-year-old Mycheal Edwards-Wallace - an incoming freshman who was set to play his first season of football at the Division II institution. Edwards-Wallace excelled in sports at the high school level - earning all-state, all-area, and all-region recognition as he played both offensive and defensive line. He was named his high school's Male Athlete of the Year and played in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas - a football game featuring the best players in North Carolina and South Carolina. 'Newberry College is mourning the loss of incoming football student-athlete Mycheal Edwards-Wallace,' the school wrote in a statement. 'The entire Newberry College community extends its deepest condolences to Mycheal's family, friends, and teammates. We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.' Edwards-Wallace died a little more than two months before Newberry began its football season against the University of Virginia's College at Wise on September 6. According to local station WCSC, no arrests have been made as of Sunday night.

Incredible moment brave NFL star hops into thick mud to rescue stranded driver
Carolina Panthers second-year wide receiver Xavier Legette was able to help a friend out who was stuck in a rough spot while off-roading in the off-season. Legette, who was born and raised riding horses and living in the backcountry of South Carolina, was seen in a video trying to help someone whose ATV was submerged in some deep mud. The vehicle was stuck in the mud and trying to get it out was made especially tough because of the running water around it. After taking some valuables from his friend to make sure they didn't get damaged, Legette offered some advice on trying to get the ATV out. While the friend took the suggestions, it was clear that he wasn't able to get it out on his own. So, Legette decided to get down and dirty - stepping into the mud to help lift the front end of the ATV out of the mud. GloRilla's latest music video for the song 'Typa' dropped on Friday morning, with Legette getting very close with his on-camera partner. How comfortable the duo looked on screen have made the pair appear to be an item, including a scene in a bedroom where GloRilla is in a white bra and Legette enters shirtless and in a towel. Legette, 24, has not been connected with anyone romantically since entering the NFL last year as a first-round draft pick.

NBA fans divided as legendary female coach is considered by the New York Knicks
As the New York Knicks ' coaching search continues to drag on in an uncertain direction, the team has considered one unorthodox option which has fans split. After reaching the team's first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years, the Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau. The team considered multiple coaches for the position, but still have not inked a deal with anyone - leading to some out-of-the-box considerations. This includes one of the top coaches in all of college basketball, but not one that has led a men's team. According to the New York Post, the Knicks have reached out to University of South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley. Staley's a very successful coach - having won three NCAA titles, nine conference tournament titles, and being named Coach of the Year four times. It's unclear if the discussion that the Knicks had with Staley was a formal interview or more to gague interest. This isn't the first time Staley's been considered for the position: she met with the Portland Trail Blazers regarding their vacancy back in 2021. South Carolina's athletic director, Jeremiah Donati, confirmed the Knicks spoke to Staley - telling On3, 'If I were them, I would have called her too.' Staley is a member of the Basketball Hall-of-Fame for her accomplishments as a player. She won three Olympic Gold Medals with Team USA from 1996-2004 and was a six-time WNBA All Star. Still, there were split reactions to the news. On one hand, some fans believed that bringing in a highly successful basketball coaching legend would be good for the Knicks. 'Imagine seeing everything Dawn Staley has done and being mad she's in consideration for your head coaching position.
