Netflix fans have an abundance of TV series and films to watch this weekend, from new releases like Happy Gilmore 2 and Untamed to old favourites.
Whether you are looking for something more light-hearted and fun or something that will have you gripping the edge of your seats, there is something for everyone.
The weekend is the perfect chance to binge watch, so if you are looking for something new to add to your watch pile, we have put together five documentaries that have had people talking this week, including a horrifying missing persons case to a social media frenzy.
Trainwreck: Storm Area 51
The Trainwreck anthology has been a hit with fans as it explores the biggest and most bizarre events that made headlines in mainstream media. From tragic festivals and political scandals, the series has shown it all.
But the latest and final instalment has been branded a must watch as it investigates the Storm Area 51 frenzy that went viral. In 2019, 20-year-old Matty Roberts sparked a worldwide sensation by creating a Facebook event titled 'Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us'.
The aim was to infiltrate the secret Air Force base in Nevada and uncover its supposed hidden secrets, from government trials to alien technologies. With millions of people expressing their interest, law enforcement agencies were on edge.
Released on July 29, fans have branded it "insane. On TikTok, one user commented that the "story is wild" as another said they will "stop what I'm currently watching to watch this."
Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam tapes
This three part series has been branded as "craziness" as one true crime fan said on TikTok it is one "you do not want to miss". Released on Netflix on July 30, The Son of Sam Tapes transports viewers into one of the NYPD's greatest manhunts in New York City.
David Berkowitz, also known as the Son of Sam and the .44 Caliber Killer, is an American serial killer who was convicted of murdering six people. Now, this true crime documentary investigates the disturbing mind of the murderer himself.
Netflix teases: "Newly unearthed recordings offer rare insight into his twisted psyche, revealing what was going through his mind as he unleashed a reign of terror in the late 1970s. Alongside first-hand accounts from cops, journalists, and survivors, the series unpacks how fear spread through the streets, fuelled by cryptic letters, a frenzied press, and a killer who seemed to be everywhere and nowhere at once."
And fans cannot get enough of the true crime docuseries. One person wrote on X: "Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes may be one of their best true crime docu-series."
Amy Bradley is Missing
This heart-breaking documentary explores the disappearance of Amy Bradley who went missing without a trace in 1998 while on a Caribbean cruise with her family. The documentary features footage of her last known moments, dancing in the ship's nightclub with a cruise entertainer before returning to her cabin.
It also explores her final sighting which was by her father on their balcony early morning. He later woke to find her missing, and the mystery to this day remains unsolved.
The documentary has gripped fans who are taking to social media to share their thoughts and theories on what may have happened as viewers say they are "adding to their watch list". One person wrote on X: "If y'all into true crime docs Amy Bradley is Missing on Netflix is a must watch!"
Another added: "That Amy Bradley is missing documentary is haunting on Netflix. The forensics on the photographs matched and there were convincing witness statements who saw her. FBI should have done more to track her down. She was alive!"
Critical: Between Life and Death
Critical: Between Life and Death aired on Netflix on July 23 but has quickly become a firm favourite for documentary fans. It tracks London's trauma units as they face harrowing, real life situations and save lives.
From multiple traumas to life or death operations, the show is said to not be for those who have a weak stomach. The six-part series features surgeons, emergency crews and victims and their families as they recount the terrifying incidents as well as tense moments within the health service.
From the Makers of 24 Hours in A&E, the show features exclusive access in London's trauma hospitals over 21 days and across 40 cameras as "every second counts". And despite noting the "gory" nature of the documentary, fans are loving it.
"This one is REALLY graphic...I think a tad more than 24 Hours in A&E...I'll still watch, behind my fingers sometimes," one person wrote. Another penned: "This is brilliant. Binge watching it."
Fit for TV: Reality of the Biggest Loser
Although not released yet, Fit for TV: Reality of the Biggest Loser has fans talking on social media as anticipation for it is high. The documentary will be released on Netflix on August 15.
Fit for TV: Reality of the Biggest Loser will be a three-part documentary exploring the making of the hit reality TV competition, The Biggest Loser. Featuring exclusive interviews with former contestants, it will also explore the show's approach to extreme body transformations.
Netflix teases: "The series explores how the experience shaped the lives of those involved with the show long after the cameras stopped rolling and invites viewers to reflect on the balance between entertainment and well-being, and what it truly means to pursue lasting change."

'Haunted' Annabelle doll gets new celebrity owner after handler dies
Comedian Matt Rife has revealed his 'super random' purchase of the museum that houses the 'haunted' Annabelle doll. The Raggedy Ann doll was obtained by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, in the 1970s after its original owner claimed it exhibited unsettling behaviour and was told by a psychic it had been possessed by a dead girl called Annabelle. Over the years was claimed to have caused a string of supernatural occurrences, featuring the 2013 film The Conjuring, going on to inspire the Annabelle horror film series – which includes the 2014 film Annabelle, followed by Annabelle: Creation (2017), and Annabelle Comes Home (2019). Over the past five decades, the original doll has been kept in the Warren's Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. Last month the doll came to attention again following the sudden and mysterious death of its caretaker Dan Rivera. The well-known ghost hunter, 54, had been taking the doll around the US when he was found dead in his hotel. An autopsy is yet to confirm his cause of death, but police said 'nothing unusual or suspicious was observed at the scene.' A few weeks on Rife, 29, has now announced he's 'officially' purchased the Warren's house and museum alongside YouTube creator Elton Castee. 'INSANE ANNOUNCEMENT,' he began. 'I have officially purchased Ed and Lorraine Warren's home and Occult Museum, including being the legal guardian for at least the next 5 years, of the entire haunted collection including THE ANNABELLE DOLL, with my good friend @eltoncastee!! If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted. You also may know The Conjuring films are my favourite scary movies of all time. So I'm incredibly honoured to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history. Ed and Lorain Warren arguably put demonology and paranormal into the mainstream and are the very heart of some of the most famous haunted stories of all time, The Conjuring House, Amityville Horror, etc… 'We plan to open the house for overnight stays and museum tours so you yourself can experience and learn all the haunted history surrounding this amazing place.' In a TikTok Rife, best known for his self-produced comedy specials Only Fans, Matthew Steven Rife and Walking Red Flag, as well as Netflix specials Natural Selection and Lucid, added that: 'I know a lot of you guys don't know [what] any of this means whatsoever, but if you follow ghost stuff, this is about as big as it gets.' The New England Society for Psychic Research, which was founded by the Warrens, previously described it as 'demonically possessed'. Despite Rife's excitement, many people expressed concerns for him. The original Annabelle doll is a Raggedy Ann-style cloth doll that became the subject of widespread attention due to its alleged involvement in paranormal events investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren, prominent figures in American demonology and paranormal research. The events began in 1970, when a nursing student named Donna received the doll as a gift from her mother. Shortly after, Donna and her roommate Angie reported unusual activity involving the doll, including changes in its position and location within their apartment. They also discovered handwritten notes on parchment paper with disturbing messages such as 'Help me,' despite not having such paper in the apartment. Seeking an explanation, the women consulted a medium who claimed that the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a deceased girl named Annabelle Higgins. However, the Warrens, upon investigating, concluded that the presence associated with the doll was not that of a human spirit but a malevolent, demonic entity using the doll as a conduit to ultimately possess a human host. Following their investigation, the Warrens removed the doll and placed it in a secure glass case in their Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut, with a warning label reading, 'Warning: Positively Do Not Open.' The doll is also associated with a supposed curse. The Warrens recounted an incident in which a museum visitor mocked the doll and challenged its power. According to their account, the visitor died in a motorcycle accident shortly after being asked to leave the museum. This story has contributed to the belief that Annabelle carries a dangerous curse, although no verifiable evidence supports these claims. 'No way. We are not ready to lose you,' Mel added. Rife went on to explain that he and Castee are now the 'legal guardians and caretakers' of the Warrens' home, as well as the museum and its collection of 750 artifacts, but don't have permanent ownership. 'I must go on record and say we do not legally own the items, but we are the legal guardians and caretakers of the items for at least the next five years,' he clarified. He also shared his plans to re-open the museum, which was forced to shut in 2019 due to a zoning violation. Rife said that 'soon' the museum will be opened for tours, while the house would be open for guests, with options to visit for a day, night or entire weekend. Russian TikTokkers 'arrested for taking selfies outside oil depot inferno'

Footage circulating online shows two young women posing metres away from the inferno, allegedly caused by drone debris hitting a fuel tank. The pair have since been identified as Dasha Vladimirovna, 21, and Karina Evgenyevna, 19 – who have since been detained for accidentally exposing Vladimir Putin's failures to defend Russia. Flames are seen raging behind the two, with pillars of smoke rising into the sky, after the overnight attack. Dasha and Karina do not appear shocked – in the video, they are rapping to the track Crimson Dawn by singer Endshpil, a famous Russian rapper. Before they were identified, police had issued an appeal to members of the piublic, saying: 'During Internet monitoring, a publication was found of two girls filming a video against the backdrop of a fire in Sochi. 'The police have initiated an investigation, measures are being taken to identify the girls, and their actions will be legally assessed.' It was later confirmed that Dasha and Karina had been detained, and there were calls from pro-war outlets for them to issue a public apology over the stunt close to Sochi Airport. Police have not shared the real reason for their arrest, but it is likely that it is the potential glamourising of a Ukrainian strike on Putin's favourite Black Sea resort. The Kremlin has been taking an increasingly hard line against social media stunts seen as highlighting Ukraine's successes in the war. Ukraine's attack is seen as one of the most symbolically and strategically significant ones – deep within Russian territory since the start of the full-scale invasion. The oil depot sustained a direct hit, causing the explosion of a 2,000 cubic metre fuel reservoir and sparking a fire visible across Sochi. More than 120 firefighters and 35 emergency vehicles were deployed to the scene, and operations at the nearby airport were suspended as a precaution. Despite the official account from the governor of Krasnodar, Veniamin Kondratyev, describing the incident as a result of falling drone fragments, widespread footage circulating online paints a starkly different picture.
