Gyokeres is desperate to quit his club for the Premier League, with Manchester United and former boss Ruben Amorim also interested.
But Sporting are refusing to let him leave for less than £70million.
Gyokeres has been left incensed by their demands after insisting he had a gentleman's agreement for a lower price.
And the Sweden international is now refusing to return for Sporting's pre-season in a bid to force through an exit.
However, Gyokeres has taken his desire to leave to new heights after reportedly axing Portuguese girlfriend Ines Aguiar.
The actress and model started dating Gyokeres at the start of 2024 before the couple went public several months later.
Earlier this season Ines was caught on camera 'promising' she would convince her man to remain in Lisbon.
But Corrieo Da Manha claims they have now gone their separate ways after Gyokeres called time on the relationship.
Speculation started when Ines did not accompany him to the wedding of Sporting teammate Morten Hjulmand, who was marrying her friend Emilie Sofie Nissen.
Gyokeres then jetted off on holiday by himself to Mykonos, while Ines headed alone to Formentera.

Now, it's claimed that Gyokeres was the one to break things off in an attempt to 'sever all his ties' to Portugal and thus allowing him the freedom to join Arsenal.
A source said: 'Viktor doesn't want anything that ties him to Portugal, especially because he has already decided that he will not continue at Sporting next season.
'Before going on holiday, he spoke to Ines and explained what he felt.
'She was also prepared in a certain way, although it was something that was difficult for her because she liked him a lot.'

Pedro Neto may miss Chelsea's Club World Cup quarter-final after friend Jota's death

Enzo Maresca said that he will let Pedro Neto decide if he is ready to face Palmeiras after Chelsea excused the winger from training following the death of his friend and international teammate Diogo Jota. Neto played with Jota at Wolverhampton Wanderers and won the Uefa Nations League alongside the Liverpool and Portugal forward last month. The mood was sombre at Chelsea's training camp as they prepared to face Palmeiras in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup on Friday. Neto was given permission to miss the session and Maresca was unsure if Neto will be in the right frame of mind to play. 'It's a very sad day,' Maresca said. 'I struggle to find words, it is very difficult. You feel a little bit helpless in this situation. I can only say all my love to [Jota's] family. It's a big tragedy for them. In terms of Pedro, he is very sad. Probably more than sad. We are close to Pedro to support him. 'Because I didn't see him in training earlier. It's completely Pedro's decision [to play]. I had a chat this morning with Pedro. We support him. Any decision he will take is the correct one.' Marc Cucurella backed Neto, who has scored three goals during the tournament, to rise to the occasion if he plays. 'The manager and he must decide but it's important that Pedro feels good,' the Chelsea left-back said. 'Football is secondary but it's a long day tomorrow and whatever they decide will be good. But right now he's a player in form and I think Pedro can help us in this game.' Chelsea have rallied around Neto. 'In the morning he was sad and it was not his best moment,' Cucurella said. 'But we tried to stay together and in the afternoon he was a bit better and I told him that if he's going to play then he will score because that is destiny. Hopefully we can show his love and all the good friends that we are and dedicate the goal to him.' Chelsea also have selection problems in midfield. Moises Caicedo is serving a one-match ban and Maresca revealed that Romeo Lavia, who has not been seen in training this week, is in doubt with a muscle problem. 'We are not sure he can be fit,' Maresca said. 'We will try tomorrow. He had small problems at the end of the last game against Benfica. It is just muscular problems and tomorrow we will see if he is fit. Moi is suspended also so we need to find solutions.' Chelsea have agreed a fee of £48.5m plus add-ons for the Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens and have added Joao Pedro to their squad after signing the forward from Brighton in a deal worth up to £60m. It remains to be seen if Joao Pedro is ready to feature against Palmeiras. 'Joao Pedro's situation is a bit strange as he was on holiday,' Maresca said. 'Even if he was working it is not the same when you work alone rather than with the team. We are very happy with Joao in the two days he worked with us. We will see if we need him tomorrow.' The Brazil international has been the subject of huge attention given that he joins Chelsea after the Club World Cup. 'Everyone knew this could happen during the negotiations,' Abel Ferreira, the Palmeiras manager, said. 'Everyone knew he could play. So he will do what he does. I don't have to say anything. He has to do his job. He won't play alone. Nobody plays alone in my team. He will do what he always does. As long as he is playing with us, he has this commitment with us and once he finishes his commitments with Palmeiras, he is free to start with his new club. 'He knows what he needs to do for tomorrow. I hope he gives his best for the owners of Chelsea. It will be an important opportunity for him to show how good he is. We can expect his best. Maybe to score a goal to give a goodbye for our fans, because we helped him. We helped him to grow as a man, as a professional, so it can be a good moment for him to give a goodbye with one amazing game.' Ferreira, who is without Gustavo Gomez and Murilo in defence, jokingly called on Philadelphians to tap into their patriotism by coming to the game to support his team on the Fourth of July. 'We are the underdogs,' the Portuguese said. 'It can be an opportunity for local people to join with us against the English. It can be a good moment. Tomorrow it will be Independence Day, against the English. Join us! Come with us! We need your support.'

Iga Swiatek stays under radar at Wimbledon with win against McNally to reach third round

It should not really be possible for someone who has won five grand slam titles and been world No 1 for 125 weeks to slip under the radar. But at Wimbledon, where she has made the quarter-finals only once and where grass-court nous is still a work in progress, Iga Swiatek somehow seems to go about her business almost unnoticed. If she loses early, it's quickly shaken off; if she goes deep, it's bonus territory and a sign that all is well in her world. On Thursday, the Pole, seeded eighth after dropping down the rankings in the first half of this year, shrugged off a poor end to the first set to beat the American Caty McNally 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 for a place in the third round. Ranked 208 but in the draw on a protected ranking after a long time off due to elbow surgery, McNally chipped and charged and came forward with purpose as she pinched the first set from 4-1 down. But Swiatek steadied the ship quickly and dominated the second and third sets for another morale‑boosting victory. Having struggled in the first part of the clay season, Swiatek started to find her game at Roland Garros, where she has won the title four times. Defeat by Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals hurt but she reached her first grass-court final in Bad Homburg and she is just the third woman this century, after Amélie Mauresmo and Serena Williams, to make the third round or better at 22 or more slams. Against McNally, she did not panic when the first set slipped away and in the end she was a comfortable winner. 'I started well so I knew my game was there,' Swiatek said, explaining how she turned things around. 'I just needed to use it, to be more intense and more accurate with my preparation. I'm happy I was able to do it.' There is a lot about grass-court tennis that Swiatek has yet to master. Though her volleys are technically sound, the transition from the baseline to the net is often tentative, still moving backwards at times to let the ball bounce when a smash would be easier. But when her serve is working smoothly, as it was for the most part against McNally, she is still very hard to beat. Swiatek and McNally know each other well, having won the junior doubles title together at Roland Garros in 2018. Swiatek won the junior Wimbledon title that year, but lost to McNally in the semis in Paris, a defeat she described on Thursday as 'one of the most heartbreaking of my junior career'. The two women embraced fondly at the net and Swiatek was delighted to see her on court again. 'I'm happy she's back,' she said. 'For sure she's got the game to do well.' Next up for Swiatek is Danielle Collins, the hard-hitting American who handed her a painful defeat on clay in Rome last time out. Win that, and she's likely to find herself up against Elena Rybakina, the 2022 champion, who eased past Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-1. The defending champion, Barbora Krejcikova, was made to work before beating Caroline Dolehide 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, setting up a clash with the 10th seed, Emma Navarro, a quarter-finalist here last year. The No 7 seed, Mirra Andreeva, in the same section of the draw, beat Lucia Bronzetti 6-1, 7-6 (4). 'In the beginning I felt like I was playing great, taking the ball early, playing aggressive, but in the second set she also started to play better and I got a little bit nervous,' the Russian said. 'I'm just super-happy that I managed to push myself to fight until the end.'

Jota's physio lifts lid on star's little-known issue he bravely played through

Diogo Jota was described as an "unparalleled professional" by his physio, Miguel Goncalves, who strongly denied vile rumours the Liverpool forward had been partying in the run up to the crash Diogo Jota had been bravely playing through a little-known issue called a pneumothorax - or collapsed lung - in the weeks before his death, his physio has confirmed. Miguel Goncalves said the forward was so desperate to ensure Liverpool won their second Premier League title he delayed his surgery for pneumothorax. He was also keen to feature in Portugal's Nation's League game against Spain in June, which his country won on penalties. ‌ Jota, 28, battled through the issue and saw Mr Goncalves just five hours before the fatal crash in Zamora, Spain. Both Jota and his younger brother Andre died after the Portugal international's Lamborghini Huracan was involved in the smash. ‌ Mr Goncalves said the brothers planned to drive to Santander to catch a ferry to England, and chose to make the journey in the evening because the weather was cooler. Mr Goncalves added: "I said goodbye to him and his brother, Andre, at around 8:30pm. His brother was a great companion and decided to go with him, to accompany him on the trip, and that way they would also spend more time together. They were going to travel at night because it was cooler, but they weren't going direct." The funeral will start tomorrow, with the wake taking place in São Cosme at 3pm, with the funeral at 10am on Saturday. It will be held at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar, half an hour from Jota's home city of Porto where two weeks ago he married childhood sweetheart Rute in a Catholic service packed with family and friends. Speaking to Portuguese outlet Record, Mr Goncalves, who himself works mostly at a hospital in Porto, added: "Diogo was very aware of his professionalism. They were only supposed to arrive in Santander today (Thursday), catch the boat and then go to England. "The family would arrive later by plane, organise their lives over the weekend and then, on Monday, they had a medical appointment scheduled in Liverpool to assess the situation." ‌ Jota, a father of three, was advised against flying because this would have been a risk to his health. Instead, the Brittany Ferries service from the port city of Santander was due to reach Plymouth, Devon, this morning. And Mr Goncalves stressed the footballer's decision highlighted his huge professionalism, a trait he praised. He was appalled to read disgusting rumours on social media to suggest Jota had been partying in the run up to the crash. The physio added: "I've read some things on the internet that are regrettable, and I've even heard some in the media. To be clear, Diogo and Andre weren't partying at all, they weren't in the so-called 'good mood' life, they had nothing that deserved any repair. Nothing." ‌ The tyre of the supercar is said to have blown out while overtaking another vehicle on the A-52 at Cernadilla near Zamora - just ten miles over the border from Portugal. Police are investigating the cause of the fatal crash in the early hours of Thursday morning. Mr Goncalves said: "He made an extraordinary recovery, he was undoubtedly an unparalleled professional. He strictly followed what I told him, as you could see in the way he was recovering. "The base of his right lung had collapsed a little, but with the post-surgery physiotherapy he was practically flawless. When I left him yesterday he was no longer in pain and was going to return to Liverpool. He was excited, confident in his recovery and enthusiastic about the next season."
