IGP: No official travel restriction on Fahmi Reza despite immigration confusion; name only on monitoring list
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Fahmi's name had only been placed on a movement monitoring list as part of an ongoing investigation.
'There is no official travel restriction imposed on Fahmi Reza at this time,' he said in a statement.
He explained that the monitoring list is used for internal reference and does not equate to an actual travel ban.
'There was confusion during an immigration check at an exit point on June 7, 2025, which resulted in an incorrect instruction being issued,' he added.
Police are reviewing the incident and will take appropriate steps to improve existing procedures.
Razarudin said the Royal Malaysia Police remain committed to upholding Malaysians' right to freedom of movement.
He said Fahmi is free to travel in and out of the country as usual, subject to any relevant regulations set by the Immigration Department or applicable laws.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, will undertake a state visit to Russia from August 5 to 10, 2025, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. In a statement today, Istana Negara announced that His Majesty will make history as the first Malaysian Head of State to conduct a state visit to Russia since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1967. 'This visit also reflects the important role of the Malaysian monarchy in advancing the nation's diplomacy,' it said. Istana Negara added that the visit will not only strengthen existing bilateral relations but also open new avenues for cooperation in various fields, including trade, higher education, technology, innovation, and people-to-people ties. As Asean Chair in 2025, Malaysia will also play a major role in enhancing strategic cooperation, particularly in the context of Russia's status as an ASEAN Dialogue Partner since 1996, it added. While in Moscow, Istana Negara said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim will be accorded a state welcome ceremony at the Kremlin by President Vladimir Putin, followed by an official meeting between the two Heads of State. 'His Majesty will also attend a state banquet hosted by the President of the Russian Federation,' Istana Negara said. His Majesty is then scheduled to visit the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute (NAMI) as well as the Tochka Kipeniya Technology and Innovation Hub. After concluding his programme in Moscow, His Majesty will travel to Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan on Aug 8, 2025. ‘Miniature of Malaysia': KLScouts tapped to strengthen unity in diverse capital
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Scouts Movement (KLScouts) has the potential to become an important strategic partner in strengthening the city's social ecosystem, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. She said that the extensive network and experience of the Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) can be systematically utilised to implement social intervention policies in the capital, especially through programs like the Human Endeavour Program (PUJI). She noted that KLScouts' membership has reached over 14,000 people, making it a crucial asset in facing urban social challenges. 'These challenges include character building, instilling a spirit of service, and teaching people the meaning of leadership through action,' she said while speaking at the Kuala Lumpur Scouts Association of Malaysia Medal and King's Scout Badge Award Ceremony here last night. Dr Zaliha said that platforms like KLScouts enable a more effective connection between community movements and national policies, particularly in addressing the challenge of unity in the capital. 'Kuala Lumpur is a real testing ground for the unity and solidarity of the people. It is a miniature of Malaysia, where the complexities of religion, race, and culture coexist in the same city, with a diversity full of challenges and opportunities,' she said. Furthermore, Dr Zaliha said that scouting activities are not just ordinary co-curricular activities but are an important process in the holistic formation of an individual's identity. She also expressed hope that KLScouts can play a greater role in the holistic urban social development policy through collaboration with various parties. 'I hope that the cooperation built tonight will pave the way for a more strategic involvement of KLScouts in the policies and implementation of social development in this capital,' she said.
