Ali Sethi to drop 'Love Language' on August 1

Express Tribune11-07-2025
Music fans, mark your calendars: after catapulting into 2025 with singles Maya and Tera Sitam, Pakistani-American singer Ali Sethi is on the brink of releasing his long-awaited upcoming album Love Language, slated for release on August 1.
"Love Language, my first full length studio album, is out on August 1," penned the musician in a simple caption on Instagram posted on Thursday as he credited the artwork and photography underneath. "A ragamala rendezvous. I made it for me and you."
Accompanying the message were three photos from the upcoming album's cover art. While Ali didn't lean into Sabrina Carpenter's Man's Best Friend shock tactics, there's no denying that one colour in his carousel demands attention: red. Shiny red leather gloves, a red lace-like shirt, and a jeweled red headpiece draped across Ali's face – all work in tandem to seize the spotlight.
The red leather gloves are worn by Ali himself – never one to shy away from experimentation – alongside yet another oversized piece of jewellery, too large to be a ring, stretched across the fingers of his left hand. Against a muted blue backdrop, this striking red motif becomes part of his signature: it's the font colour for his name, the album title, and the names of the new tracks. In case you missed them, Ali's red-gloved hand points directly at the swirling list of songs featured in the second photo of the carousel.
Fans will be delighted to learn that Love Language comprises sixteen songs, (including the already released Maya and Tera Sitam). When Ali delivers on August 1, here are the eclectically named Love Language tracks you can expect to add to his catalogue: O Balama (Censored Love Song), Hanera, Rocket Launcher [ft Maanu], Nursery Rhyme (Interlude), Lovely Bukhaar, Jhatka in Jaunpuri (Interlude), Hymn 4 Him (Ghoomray), Villain, Bridegroom, Jadugarni, Kaava, Subho Shaam [ft Natania], and Escape from Jhaptaal.
The final photo shows Ali gazing pensively at something just out of frame, one red-gloved arm poised as if ready for action, the chains of red jewels still draped dramatically across his face. If there's any man who knows how to make a statement, it's him. And with the post already racking up over 2,000 likes from eager followers within just seven hours, it's clear that this is a statement his fans have been waiting for.

American Eagle defends Sydney Sweeney campaign amid eugenics accusations

American Eagle has addressed the controversy surrounding its fall 2025 campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney, following widespread online backlash and confusion over the tagline 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' The viral campaign sparked debate after a clip showed Sweeney saying, 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring… My jeans are blue.' The wordplay between 'genes' and 'jeans' ignited accusations online that the ad promoted a subtle racial message or even eugenics. Critics, particularly on TikTok, claimed the combination of Sweeney's blue eyes, blonde hair, and scripted dialogue made the campaign a 'racialized dog whistle.' In response, American Eagle issued a statement on Instagram: 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.' While some condemned the campaign as tone-deaf, others defended Sweeney and the brand, dismissing the outrage as overblown. 'Y'all are mad at Sydney Sweeney because she's white, she's blonde, she's blue-eyed and she looks good,' said one TikTok user, capturing the divide in public sentiment. Sweeney has not commented publicly. She continues to dominate Hollywood with roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, and the upcoming Christy, while also expanding her business ventures. Recent endorsements include Armani Beauty, Miu Miu, and a reported lingerie brand backed by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Baskin-Robbins, one of her brand partners, has since disabled comments on TikTok videos featuring the actress amid the controversy.

‘The Holiday' limited series adaptation reportedly in development at Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is developing a limited series adaptation of the beloved 2006 romantic comedy The Holiday, according to Variety and Deadline. The project, which is currently in early development, will reimagine the premise of the original film while introducing a new cast of characters. As with the Nancy Meyers-directed film, the upcoming series will follow two women — one American and one British — who swap homes over the Christmas season and unexpectedly find love. Unlike the movie, however, the series will not follow the original characters portrayed by Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black. Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve, Sweetpea) is attached to write and executive produce the show, with Rob Delaney (Catastrophe) also contributing as a writer. The series is being produced by Left Bank Pictures. Notably, Nancy Meyers, who wrote, directed, and produced the 2006 hit, is not involved in the TV adaptation. Casting is currently underway. Should the team secure the right talent, the show is expected to receive an official greenlight from the streamer. The original film was a box office success, grossing over $200 million globally. Over time, The Holiday has gained cult status, often cited as a go-to comfort film during the holiday season. The movie featured Winslet as Iris, a London-based journalist, and Diaz as Amanda, a Los Angeles businesswoman. Their decision to swap homes during the holidays led them to cross paths with Graham (Law) and Miles (Black), forming the film's central romantic arcs. Ducker is represented by Independent Talent Group and Black Bear. She began her career as a writer's assistant on Catastrophe, which Delaney co-created and starred in alongside Sharon Horgan.

Adria Arjona shares sweet birthday tribute to Jason Momoa as his series Chief of War Debuts

Jason Momoa turned 46 on August 1, and his girlfriend, actress Adria Arjona, marked the occasion with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. Arjona, 33, shared a romantic message along with a series of photos capturing the couple enjoying time together — riding motorcycles, walking in nature, and embracing on the beach. "Happy birthday mi amor," Arjona wrote. "There's nothing I love more than doing life by your side. So here's to one more year of being wild and free and to forever growing young. Love you so much babii." The Hit Man star also praised Momoa's latest project, the Apple TV+ historical drama Chief of War, which premiered the same day. "Excited for the world to watch what you've poured your heart and soul into for the past years," she added. Fans responded warmly to the post, calling the couple 'beautiful' and praising their chemistry. Momoa himself commented, 'Te amo mi amor. Luckiest man alive.' The couple made their relationship public in May 2024 when Momoa shared photos of them together during a trip to Japan. Since then, they've frequently appeared in affectionate posts on social media. Chief of War, a nine-part series starring and co-created by Momoa, focuses on true events in Polynesian history and features a predominantly Polynesian cast. The first two episodes are now streaming, with new episodes released weekly. Adding to the buzz, Momoa recently shaved his iconic beard for the first time in over six years, ahead of filming Dune: Part Three. In a video shared online, he dedicated the transformation to director Denis Villeneuve. Momoa was previously married to actress Lisa Bonet, with whom he shares two children. Bonet filed for divorce in early 2024, officially ending their marriage.
