Van Morrison Charts A New No. 1, Almost 60 Years Into His Career
It's been almost 60 years since Van Morrison kicked off his recording career, and he remains a beloved figure to this day in certain countries, including the United Kingdom. The rocker has never slowed down throughout his more than half-century-long journey. He still typically releases an album a year, and he's back with Remembering Now, which is a quick win across a number of rankings in the region where he got his start.
Remembering Now Debuts at No. 1
Remembering Now brings Morrison back to the top spot on one of the half-dozen tallies on which it debuts. The project enters the Official Americana chart at No. 1, earning him his fourth career leader.
Morrison only arrived on the Official Americana list for the first time in 2016, when Keep Me Singing gave him his first chart-topper on his first try. That set spent 14 weeks ruling — more than all his other champions combined.
He's also led the tally with Roll with the Punches and Three Chords and the Truth. It's been a little over half a decade since Morrison last secured a new No. 1, but in the interim, he's collected several additional top 10s.
Van Morrison Scores Several Top 10 Debuts
As it leads the Official Americana chart, Remembering Now also starts its time on four other rankings inside the top 10. The project only misses that coveted region on the Official Albums roster — the main list for full-lengths in the U.K. — by one spot. It debuts just below the No. 10 mark, opening at No. 11, which still brings the singer to an impressive position he hasn't seen in some time.
Remembering Now is Another Big Win for Van Morrison
While Remembering Now may earn its lowest entry point on the Official Albums chart, Morrison has now amassed 54 placements on that tally throughout his storied career. He's only earned seven wins on the Official Americana roster, which is much newer, and yet that's where he leads again this week.

Temuera Morrison wants native Hawaiians to be proud of 'Chief of War'
1 of 5 | Jason Momoa (L) and Temuera Morrison star in "Chief of War," premiering Friday. Photo courtesy of Apple TV+ NEW YORK, July 31 (UPI) -- Aquaman and The Book of Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison says he hopes native Hawaiians are proud that Chief of War focuses on their history and features a primarily Polynesian cast. "This is very fresh. I haven't seen anything quite like this before in my whole life," Morrison, 64, told UPI in a recent Zoom interview. "At the end of the day, I want Hawaiian people to be proud and reclaim themselves, reclaim their identity and feel proud about their Hawaiian heritage," the New Zealander added. "We're blessed because we're all the same people." Morrison said that on the first day of filming, the woman who operated the boom microphone told him he was playing her ancestor. #ChiefOfWar premieres tomorrow. ʻĀpōpō ka hōʻike mua o Chief of War. Apple TV (@AppleTV) July 31, 2025 "That's all she said and she waled away and I said, 'Oh, my God!' It suddenly hit me that we have a responsibility here. We are representing all these people and I am playing her ancestor. Fortunately for me, she never hit me on the head with her microphone, so I must have been on the right track." Premiering Friday on Apple TV+, the nine-episode series takes place in 18th century Hawaii when the islands' leaders disagreed about whether they should peacefully unify or conquer each other. Jason Momoa co-wrote and produced the action drama, in which he also plays Ka'iana, the titular hero. Morrison plays his frenemy Chief Kahekili and Cliff Curtis plays Keoua, another rival king. "Jason needed some support posts around him. He knew Cliff and I had the experience in this medium," Morrison said. "We were humbled to get the opportunity. Personally, it was quite an adventure, spiritually, culturally. We all had to learn the Hawaiian language. That was quite challenging." Morrison admitted he initially had some reservations about taking on the pivotal role in such an epic. "I'm very, very grateful that I decided to do this project because I was trying to run away in the beginning. I didn't think I could do it," he recalled. "Then, there were things like the cold. We were running around with hardly any clothes on. My feet aren't as hard as our Polynesian ancestors' used to be. Every now and then, I'd be like: 'Ah! Ah! Can I wear my shoes, please, please!' The volcanic rocks were killing me, but what a journey it's been." It was Hawaiian-born Momoa who convinced Morrison to join the epic project. "Jason said: 'Bro, bro, we're the same people, man! We're the same people. Get on board!' So, with those words of encouragement, I said, 'Yeah, bro, you are right. I think it's about sharing our Polynesian culture and heritage and supporting one another," Morrison said. Fear the Walking Dead and The Meg alum Curtis, 57, described his and Morrison's characters as the antagonists of the story. "The hero's journey is shown through the character Ka'iana, played by Jason Momoa. He's the chief who left the Hawaiian islands, went into the world and came back with technology to help unite the islands," Curtis said. "The chief of war has to choose which king he is going to fight for. It's a classic, archetypal story structure. Even though there is a new language and new costumes, visages and things that look different, the classical structure is something that all of humanity can relate to and recognize themselves in it." The geopolitics of the bygone era mirrors what some people are still experiencing in 2025, Curtis noted. "As we look back to our past, we see our ancestors struggle with the very same things as our current situation in the world," he added. "To live in peace or live in war." The ensemble also includes Luciane Buchanan,Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale'o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka and Benjamin Hoetjes. ABBA's Album Is So Huge, Fans Need Several Versions At The Same Time
Two versions of ABBA's Gold reenter the U.K. charts, with the original hitting four tallies and the ... More anniversary edition returning to the Official Album Downloads list. ABBA pose for a group portrait in Stockholm, April 1976. (L-R) Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad. (Photo by) ABBA's Gold is one of the most valuable albums in pop history, as it's packed with dozens of popular singles — many of which rank among the most famous and catchiest tunes of all time. The group has expertly capitalized on the success of these songs by releasing multiple compilations over the years but none have performed as consistently well as Gold. The album is so popular in the United Kingdom that there's room for more than one version of the title to appear on the charts at the same time on occasion – and this week is one such occasion. Two Versions of Gold Return to the Rankings Two different editions of Gold not only land on U.K. charts this week, but return to a tally apiece. The anniversary edition of the compilation reappears on the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 88. In the past, the anniversary edition — which is counted separately from the standard Gold — has peaked at No. 8 on the downloads list. It has now spent 237 weeks on that particular ranking. The Original Gold is Also Back The standard Gold, officially titled Gold: Greatest Hits, also manages to break back onto one chart, though not the downloads tally. Instead, it reenters the Official Albums Sales chart at No. 93. That original take previously reached the top 10, peaking at No. 5. It has already spent twice as many weeks on the downloads list as the anniversary edition has, as it recently pushed past 500 frames. Gold Appears on Four Charts This Week The first Gold compilation can currently be found on four U.K.-based rankings. As it returns to the sales tally, it climbs to No. 42 on the Official Album Downloads chart, sitting more than 40 spaces ahead of the anniversary edition of the same title. Coincidentally, Gold also lands at No. 19 on both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts.

Pink Floyd's Masterpiece Mounts A Multi-Chart Comeback
Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon reappears on four U.K. charts, proving the classic album's ... More continued commercial strength. UNITED KINGDOM - JANUARY 01: Photo of Rick WRIGHT and PINK FLOYD and Syd BARRETT and Roger WATERS; Back L-R: Syd Barrett, Nick Mason. Front L-R: Roger Waters, Rick Wright - posed, group shot (Photo by Andrew Whittuck/Redferns) Throughout the decades, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon has sold tens of millions of copies around the world. These days, it can typically be found on rankings in many Western nations. In fact, it almost always appears on multiple tallies in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The album is so immensely successful that several versions have been released throughout the years, and fans snap them all up in large numbers. In the band's home country of the U.K., multiple editions of the blockbuster have reached several lists. A more recent version of The Dark Side of the Moon finds its way back to numerous charts at the same time while also flying onto others as it seems that interest in the rock collection may never dwindle. The Dark Side of the Moon on the U.K. Charts The Dark Side of the Moon can currently be found on four charts in the U.K., reappearing on two of them. The bestseller soars back onto both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums rankings, coming in at Nos. 94 and 99, respectively. The same Pink Floyd project also lives on the Official Album Downloads and Official Rock & Metal Albums charts. On the former — which looks at all genres and ranks the most downloaded full-lengths in the U.K. — The Dark Side of the Moon pushes north from No. 88 to No. 82. The classic is a non-mover at No. 18 on the list of the bestselling rock and metal titles in the country. Coincidentally, this take on The Dark Side of the Moon has now spent 18 weeks on that roster. Pink Floyd's Iconic Set Beats The Band's Newest Just two releases by Pink Floyd appear on the charts in the U.K. at the moment, and The Dark Side of the Moon is the only one that finds space on more than one roster. The group hit No. 1 on multiple tallies in the country earlier this year with At Pompeii - MCMLXXII, and while that live project has largely disappeared, it can still be found on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart this week. It sits at No. 26 on that style-focused ranking, down from No. 19.
