Fans Reportedly Reselling BLACKPINK Concert Tickets Following Comeback Announcement

Hype Malaysia3 days ago

BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) is currently gearing up for their upcoming 'DEADLINE' world tour, which will kick off in July. Despite its name, it seems not everything met the actual deadline, namely, the release of new music. It was recently announced that the girl group will premiere their comeback track on the first day of their two-day concert in Goyang.
While comeback news usually excites fans, this time, many were left disappointed, believing that the quartet would primarily perform older songs during the tour. Here's how fans reacted to the single announcement:
Shortly after YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK would debut their new song at the Goyang concert, fans voiced frustration over what they saw as poor planning. Many criticised both the group and the agency, arguing that a tour without a new album is disappointing, as it means fans will have to wait even longer for fresh material.
Concerns were also raised about how rushed the concert appears to be, with many pointing out that the members have had little to no time to rehearse, record the album, film music videos or carry out proper promotions, having been busy with their individual solo activities. To express their frustration, many fans have reportedly resold their tickets for BLACKPINK's concerts in various US cities, believing that the tour will not live up to the hype.
BLINKs across the globe appear to share the sentiment, expressing little confidence that this tour will differ significantly from the group's previous ones. That being said, some defended BLACKPINK, stating that there's not much the girls can do since YG Entertainment has authority over group activities. Some have urged the company to release the song and album earlier as a form of damage control, as fans begin to lose interest.
The backlash is not at all surprising, as YG Entertainment has faced repeated criticism over its handling of BLACKPINK, their biggest and most successful idol group. Not long ago, they also received flak for what many deemed lazy and uninspired tour merchandise. In an attempt to reassure fans, the BLACKPINK members have shared updates from rehearsals, including reunion photos featuring all four members.
Unfortunately, this hasn't been enough to convince many that the tour will be a success. While we're confident that BLACKPINK will always have loyal fans who stick with them through thick and thin, the planning behind this comeback has certainly raised eyebrows. What do you think? Are BLINKs right to be upset over the way this tour is shaping up?

Not (just) like Jennie: ‘KPop Demon Hunters' director/writer clarifies Blackpink's Jennie only one of many references

SEOUL, June 28 —There has been a lot of online speculation as to which K-pop idol specifically inspired the K-pop idol groups Huntrix and Saja Boys in Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters. The show has proven to be quite a hit, with a very warm reception from K-pop fans. Unfortunately, if there's one thing fans are a little too good at is starting conflicts between fandoms, so it's not surprising that writer and director of the show Maggie Kang decided to clear the air in a post on X. 'Rumi was inspired by many leading ladies, some not even K-Pop. Names are going around (individual idols + groups) bc we only said 'yes' as they were mentioned by interviewer to us but list of inspo for both Huntr/x & Saja Boys is endless. This has been clarified by us to press,' Kang said. She said it in a post quoting an X account stating that the character Rumi of Huntrix was reportedly inspired by Blackpink's Jennie. Hopefully the online vitriol doesn't scare off Kang from making more stories from the Kpop Demon Hunters universe. Right now Netflix is already selling merchandise from the show and has even opened preorders for a plush version of the blue tiger Derpy.

Blackpink teases ‘Deadline' world tour with Western-inspired trailer (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — K‑pop sensation Blackpink released an official trailer for their upcoming 'Deadline' world tour via their X account today. The 28-second video, posted on the group's official X account and other social media platforms today, offers a cinematic glimpse of what fans can expect from the new tour. The trailer opens in a desert where member Rosé is seen using a payphone before cutting to scenes of all four members — Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé — driving through empty highways dressed in Western-inspired outfits. This marks the group's first major collective announcement since their Born Pink tour concluded in 2023 and reinforces their growing media presence. Fans have taken to social media to speculate on setlists and tour concepts, highlighting the strong anticipation surrounding their return. As Blackpink gears up to kick off 'Deadline,' the K‑pop quartet continues to balance global stardom with ongoing individual pursuits. 'This is just the beginning,' said YG Entertainment in a statement, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. 'Everyone involved went all-in to make this a world-class show.' The trailer, shot on location in Lancaster, California and at a Hollywood studio, was created with the support of a renowned international production team, the group's agency added. The 'Deadline' world tour will begin on July 5 at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi. Blackpink will perform 31 shows across 16 cities, including major stops in Los Angeles, Paris, Bangkok and Tokyo. The group is also set to debut a new single — their first in nearly three years — during the kickoff concert in Goyang.
