Man accused of stabbing NYC court officers in ‘calculated' attack: DA
Jonathan Wohl, 37, allegedly stabbed multiple officers with a knife with a curved blade and injured other cops who tried to subdue him in the lobby of Manhattan Criminal Court at 100 Centre St. on Monday morning, according to court records.

Wohl was going through the metal detectors at around 9:45 a.m. when he allegedly lunged at the first court officer and stabbed him twice, chipping his jaw, authorities said. The suspect then allegedly charged at another officer and cut him in the face and neck while the cop was trying to protect himself with a metal detector tray, according to court records.
A third New York State court officer then tackled the defendant before other cops helped subdue him. But Wohl allegedly stabbed the third cop in the back of the vest while a fourth officer suffered broken ribs during the struggle, according to court records.
Investigators believe the attack was 'calculated,' prosecutors said.
Wohl allegedly showed up to court with a notebook with pages scribbled with 'Give me liberty or give me death' and 'Protect Rodney Hinton.' Hinton is an Ohio man who is charged with fatally hitting a police officer with his car after his son died in a police shooting, prosecutors said.
'Our court officers perform a vital, profound function. It's a dangerous job. We're thankful for the work they do. As you heard in court – the defendant, we allege, as it appears, engaged in targeted activity focused on officers. We will not tolerate that in Manhattan. I'm grateful for the work they do each and every day.'
Wohl was arraigned Tuesday on attempted murder and attempted assault charges, prosecutors said. He is being held without bail.
His attorney could not immediately be reached.

Illegal cannabis business operators charged with murder after five of their workers die, prosecutors say
Two Los Angeles County men accused of running an illegal cannabis extraction business have been charged with murder after five of their workers died in two separate incidents, authorities said Friday. According to the L.A. County district attorney's office, Ted Chien, 53, and Han Quan Jiao, 55, administered the operation, which included at least nine locations countywide. In October 2023, an explosion occurred at a warehouse in Irwindale that was allegedly being used for honey oil extraction, prosecutors said in a statement. Four workers — Yi Luo, Xin Chen, Guangqi Fu and Quizhuo Liang — were killed in the blast. Another employee, Bordin "Tony" Sikarin, was killed just over a year later in a fire that broke out at a laboratory in South El Monte, according to the district attorney's office. Prosecutors allege that the location was also run by Chien and Jiao. "This case shows the deadly and disastrous results when illegal cannabis operations recklessly put greed over the safety of their employees and neighbors," said L.A. County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman. "Cannabis may be legal in California, but this kind of high-risk, illegal activity is not." Chien, of Temple City, has been charged with five counts of murder and two felony counts of arson causing great bodily injury, prosecutors said. Jiao, of Rosemead, faces one count of murder and arson causing great bodily injury. The two also face eight felony counts of manufacturing a controlled substance and three felony counts of maintaining a place for selling or using a controlled substance, according to the district attorney's office. If convicted as charged, prosecutors say Chien could face a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. Jiao could face a life sentence. But it's just a drop in the bucket Several workers were also charged for their alleged involvement in the enterprise, the district attorney's office said. Xiaolong Deng, 36; Chengyan Xu, 61; Christopher Reyes, 30; and Frank Herrera, 35, allegedly worked for Chien and Jiao. They each face one count of conspiracy to manufacture concentrated cannabis, a controlled substance. Reyes, Herrera and Deng were also each charged with one count of manufacturing and compounding or producing a controlled substance. Xu was charged with two counts of the same offense, officials said. The case was being investigated by the district attorney's Bureau of Investigation, as well as several other agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Service. Neighbors on high alert after 57-year-old woman stabbed multiple times in Towson
Baltimore County Police are searching for suspects after a woman was stabbed in the Towson area on Thursday. The assault happened just around 7 a.m. on Thursday, according to police. "It's very upsetting. It's extremely upsetting to think that somebody would come through... who would just disturb the peace," said Drew Luckenbach, a Towson resident. Nothing out of the ordinary typically happens here in the neighborhood by Glen Keith Boulevard in Towson, according to Luckenbach. Now, the neighborhood is on edge. "Yesterday morning, I was a little tired. I slept about a half an hour later than I usually do. And when I came out the door, there were police cars and an ambulance just leaving the scene right here," Luckenbach reported. According to Baltimore County Police, they arrived on the scene Thursday morning, just around 7, and found a 57-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. "Talking with the neighbors, I found out it was a woman I usually see when I wake up on time. I know nothing about her, I just say hi, give her a nice smile," Luckenbach added. Right now, it's not clear if the victim knew the suspects or if this was a random attack, but Luckenbach says that until they know, neighbors are on high alert. "Everybody is now thinking twice, watching behind their back, making sure doors are locked, making sure they're not by themselves," Luckenbach said. According to Baltimore County crime data, there have been 119 victims of various crimes reported in the 21286 zip code area in 2025. The majority of those crimes are theft offenses, with 56 cases being reported. Assault offenses take the second spot with 22 cases and 33 victims within 2025. In December of 2024, a mass shooting in Towson left nine people injured and one person dead near their homes.

Fatal crash causes Colorado Department of Transportation to close I-70 east through Loveland Pass
The Colorado Department of Transportation is working on setting up detours after a fatal crash on I-70 on Friday night. Authorities said a motorcyclist was killed when they crashed into a guard rail just before 9 p.m. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Colorado State Patrol said no other vehicles were involved in the crash. CDOT has closed eastbound traffic through Loveland Pass while crews work the scene. They said they're working on detours and advised drivers to expect delays and an extended closure.
