
FNC, GRULAC delegation discuss parliamentary cooperation
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the FNC and GRULAC, one of the IPU's largest geopolitical groups.
The discussions focused on strengthening parliamentary relations in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two sides in 2014, and on maintaining regular communication, coordination, and consultation on issues of mutual interest during international parliamentary events.
Both parties emphasised the importance of continuing parliamentary cooperation to support shared visions and objectives, aligned with the aspirations of their respective governments, and reflecting the growing bilateral ties across various strategic sectors between the UAE and GRULAC member states.
Several FNC members took part in the meeting.

DMW, Oman eye stronger protection for OFWs
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the government of Oman have agreed to reinforce their labor cooperation to better protect the rights and welfare of OFWs working in the Gulf country. DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac welcomed Omani Minister of Labor Mahad Bin Said Ali Baawain and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Sadr Bin Hamood Albusaidi in Manila on July 14 to discuss safe and ethical recruitment practices for Filipinos. 'By forging digital partnerships with host countries like Oman, we can make recruitment faster, more transparent, and more worker-friendly. Tech solutions can ensure every step is secure, accountable, and focused on protecting OFWs,' Cacdac said. In his part, Minister Baawain said Oman is currently in need of Filipino domestic workers, technicians, port staff, and skilled workers, opening up more job opportunities. They also discussed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Labor Cooperation, expected to be signed by January 2026. This includes protection measures such as ethical hiring standards, fair job contracts, systems for resolving issues, and regular inspections through a bilateral Joint Committee. The DMW is also continuing support in other countries such as Jordan, where over 48,000 Filipinos work in caregiving, hospitality, and food services.

GCC states support peaceful, diplomatic solutions to global crises
The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between the GCC and Ukraine, focusing on opportunities to further develop and enhance cooperation following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in November 2017, which aims to promote and serve the mutual interests of both parties. In addition, the discussions addressed a range of regional and international issues, including the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Albudaiwi emphasised that the GCC states believe in the importance of peaceful and diplomatic solutions as an effective way to address regional and international issues and crises, including the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The Secretary General stressed that the GCC's position on this crisis is based on the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, preserving the international order based on respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and the non-use of force or the threat of it.
