Expedite Outer Regional Ring Railway line, Chamala asks in Lok Sabha
Raising the matter under Section 377 in Parliament, the MP stressed on the national and strategic importance of the project, highlighting its alignment with the Prime Minister's vision of Vikshit Bharat-2047. The ambitious railway corridor, estimated at a cost of ₹12,000 crore, is designed to encircle the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region, covering eight districts and 14 mandals across Telangana. The line will run parallel to the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) and is expected to include 6 rail-over-rail (ROR) bridges.
'This project will act as a catalyst for economic growth, urbanisation, and industrial expansion,' he said, adding that the railway ring will help unlock new growth corridors, catalyse urbanisation of nearly 60% of the state, and enable job creation on a large scale.

New Delhi, Aug 2 (PTI) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday assured public relations officers of the Indian Railways that he would take up their demands, including cadre upgradation, with Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Birla, who attended the All India Railway Public Relations Seminar in Rajasthan's Kota, appreciated the 'significant" role of the cadre in disseminating information related to train services to the common people. 'Public Relations Officers have shared with me their demands regarding cadre upgradation among others, and I will convey them to the railway minister," Birla said. He asserted that the Public Relations Department of the Railways is a 'bridge of trust" between the government and the people. The seminar — organised by the Railway PRO cadre for the first time — deliberated upon the department's current operational practices, responsibilities, and structural challenges. Senior Public Relations Officers, Public Relations Officers and Publicity Inspectors from across the country shared their insights, experiences, and practical suggestions regarding cadre-related concerns. 'This interactive session proved to be a milestone in defining the department's future path, enhancing its efficiency, and laying a strong foundation for cadre restructuring," the Bhartiya Railway Jansampark Karmi Kalyan Samiti, a representative body of the cadre, said in a statement. 'It not only reflected the unity and collective spirit of the department but also served as a powerful platform to bring the concerns of the Public Relations Cadre to the attention of policymakers," according to the statement. Viksit Bharat: Investors flag growing land use conflicts over industries
Bengaluru: Investors in Karnataka have expressed concerns over the increasing disputes related to land use for industrial purposes, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, secretary, Union department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) said Saturday. Speaking on the sidelines of the Viksit Bharat @2047 Investors' Roundtable Conference in the city, Bhatia noted that the state govt is already taking steps to address the issues. "We will also do whatever is necessary to improve the condition," he added. Bhatia added that industry stakeholders also called for strengthening the single-window clearance system and upgrading infrastructure in existing industrial zones, especially by setting up effluent treatment plants. "In the industrial townships developed under NICDP, infrastructure is not limited to roads. It includes water and power supply, sewage, solid waste management units, electronics testing facilities, and customised infrastructure for sectors like textiles," he added. S Selvakumar, principal secretary, Karnataka department of commerce and industries, said the state is making continuous improvements to simplify its industrial policy and enhance ease of doing business. "The single-window system launched by the govt has been revitalised," he added. Selvakumar assured that the Electronics City Association's 1,000-acre township model would be scaled and replicated across Karnataka. Addressing concerns about the underutilisation of local taxes collected from industrial areas, he said a new mechanism had been introduced. "From April onwards, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) will collect taxes in Special Investment Regions (SIRs) and return 30% to local bodies, while the remaining 70% will be used to develop core infrastructure in these SIRs." 'US Tariffs Will Hurt Andhra Aqua Farmers, We Will Help Them': Chandrababu Naidu
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh is exploring options to ensure the fallout of the US imposing 25 per cent tariffs on India does not affect the state's aqua farmers, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said on Saturday. Addressing farmers for the first time since US President Donald Trump announced the tariff hike, Mr Naidu in his first comment on the US tariff hike said the state government is supporting aqua farmers by giving them electricity at 1.50 paise per unit. "The increase in tariffs in America will burden the aqua farmers in the state," he said. "We have taken note of the matter and we will discuss it with farmers in a day or two. Then we will make an action plan." The chief minister said fishermen were given Rs 10,000 earlier. "But now we will give Rs 20,000 each. We have given financial aid to 1.30 lakh people under the Matsyakarula Sevalo," he added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also said the welfare of farmers, small industries and young people remains the government's "top priority" as the country stays on track to become the world's third-largest economy. At an event in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, the prime minister reaffirmed the resilience of the Indian economy amid turbulence triggered by the US tariff hike, saying India must remain vigilant about its economic interests and adopt "swadeshi (indigenous)" products. "There is an atmosphere of global instability. All countries are focusing on their individual interests. India is going to become the third biggest economy in the world and this is why India will have to stay alert as far as its economic interests are concerned," PM Modi said. Apart from the tariffs, Mr Trump announced a penalty on India for buying Russian oil.
