Cosy country pub in Oxfordshire added to Michelin Guide
A cosy country pub in Oxfordshire has been added to the Michelin Guide for 2025.
The Bat and Ball on High Street in Cuddesdon reopened in February as the latest venture from Ben Moss's Montgomery Group.
Already owning the popular The Lamb Inn pub in Little Milton, Mr Moss doubled up with the acquisition of The Bat and Ball and hired Rick Owens as head chef, formerly of Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.
With rave reviews since opening its doors to the public, the cosy watering hole has now been included in the Michelin Guide.

The Michelin Guide write-up reads: "From the same team as The Lamb Inn at Little Milton, this Oxfordshire pub is an object lesson in how to inject new life into the village local.
"The owners have brought some love to the place, retaining a pubby feel, real ales and a dart board, so it remains a community hub for drinkers as well as diners.
"Whilst there is a lack of pretence, the kitchen team are serious about their cooking, sourcing top ingredients and cooking them with care.
"Well-judged Scottish cod with capers and beurre noisette is a prime example of the commitment to true, honest flavours."
The news was shared on the pub's Instagram account with a photograph of the team included.

A statement attached to the post said: "It is with utter joy that we have been included in this year's Michelin Guide.
"It is such a testament of the utter drive for consistency and excellence that the kitchen team puts in every single day, onto every plate.
"And to the brilliance of the front of house team showing that even while only a village pub.
"We can bring the level of service, care and attention to everyone who walks through our door.
"Thank you so much Bat and Ball team. You are legends."

Kim Kardashian talks 'magical' scene from Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos wedding
The "wedding of the century" has wrapped, and Kim Kardashian couldn't be more in awe. The reality star and Skims founder gushed about the nuptials between her friend Lauren Sánchez Bezos and husband Jeff Bezos on Friday, June 27, taking to her Instagram story to congratulate the newlyweds. "What a beautiful bride you are," Kardashian wrote, tagging Sánchez Bezos, the following day. "We all cried watching you walk down the (aisle) in pure bliss!" Kardashian also revealed that the wedding venue, located on the small island of San Giorgio across the water from St. Mark's Square, was set in a "magical" forest. "The love we all felt in the room is what we will never forget and why we all love and support you both so much," she added. "Forever rooting for the happiest couple! You deserve it all!" The billionaire Amazon founder and award-winning TV journalist tied the knot Friday, June 27, in an extraordinarily lavish Venice wedding, after multiple days of star-studded nuptial events. Photographers spotted A-list guests on the way to the ceremony, including Kardashian and sister Khloé Kardashian, their youngest sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner and family matriarch Kris Jenner; Oprah Winfrey and friend Gayle King; model Brooks Nader; Leonardo DiCaprio and his model girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti; Bezos' fellow billionaire Bill Gates; Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner; Tom Brady; and Orlando Bloom. Vogue revealed that of the 200 guests, around 70 are the duo's family members: "The wedding is extremely intimate," Sánchez Bezos said. Sánchez Bezos wore a Dolce & Gabbana silhouette dress with a high neck, adorned with 180 silk chiffon-covered priest buttons paired with a tulle-and-lace veil, inspired by a similar dress that iconic Italian actress Sophia Loren wore in the 1958 film "Houseboat," according to a Vogue magazine exclusive. The casually clad newlyweds were later spotted on a boat leaving the Aman hotel in Venice on Sunday, June 29, after a final night of partying capped the three-day wedding extravaganza. The couple smiled and waved to photographers as they exited. Contributing: Reuters

BBC apologizes for streaming Bob Vylan's ‘antisemitic' Glastonbury set
June 30 (UPI) -- The BBC has apologized for live-streaming Bob Vylan's Glastonbury Music Festival set over the weekend, calling it "deeply offensive" and "antisemitic." The British rap duo -- comprised of artists Bobby Vylan and Bobbie Vylan -- led the concertgoers, some of whom were waving Palestinian flags, in chants of "Death, death to the IDF," "From the river to the sea" and "Free, free Palestine" at the high-profile event, according to video posted on Bobby's Instagram account. After receiving expressions of what he described as being of both "support and hatred" over the weekend, Bobby doubled down on his message with an Instagram post Sunday, stating, "I said what I said." But the BBC is expressing regret over sharing the duo's festival performance with a global audience. "Millions of people tuned in to enjoy Glastonbury this weekend across the BBC's output but one performance within our live-streams included comments that were deeply offensive. The BBC respects freedom of expression, but stands firmly against incitement to violence. The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves. We welcome Glastonbury's condemnation of the performance," the BBC said in a lengthy statement Monday. "The performance was part of a live stream of the West Holts stage on BBC iPlayer. The judgment on Saturday to issue a warning on screen while streaming online was in line with our editorial guidelines. In addition, we took the decision not to make the performance available on demand. The team were dealing with a live situation but with hindsight we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen," the statement continued. "In light of this weekend, we will look at our guidance around live events so we can be sure teams are clear on when it is acceptable to keep output on air." 2025 United Press International, Inc.
