Cosy country pub in Oxfordshire added to Michelin Guide
A cosy country pub in Oxfordshire has been added to the Michelin Guide for 2025. The Bat and Ball on High Street in Cuddesdon reopened in February as the latest venture from Ben Moss's Montgomery Group. Already owning the popular The Lamb Inn pub in Little Milton, Mr Moss doubled up with the acquisition of The Bat and Ball and hired Rick Owens as head chef, formerly of Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. With rave reviews since opening its doors to the public, the cosy watering hole has now been included in the Michelin Guide. "The owners have brought some love to the place, retaining a pubby feel, real ales and a dart board, so it remains a community hub for drinkers as well as diners. "Whilst there is a lack of pretence, the kitchen team are serious about their cooking, sourcing top ingredients and cooking them with care. "Well-judged Scottish cod with capers and beurre noisette is a prime example of the commitment to true, honest flavours." The news was shared on the pub's Instagram account with a photograph of the team included. READ MORE: Cotswolds village on Beyoncé and Jay-Z 'moving into mansion' The Bat and Ball in Cuddesdon. Moore County representative looks to strengthen security at utility substations
A Moore County representative wants more security at the substations that provide power to communities across the state. Republican representative Ben Moss is the sponsor of a bill for the Energy Security Act of 2025. This is the second time Moss has attempted to pass this bill, with his first attempt being in 2023. READ: FBI investigating power grid attack in Moore County, sheriff says The act, which would take effect in July 2025, would require utility substations to have 24-hour security systems to work towards protecting from vandalism and other threats. The bill comes more than two years after an attack on a Duke electricity substation that cut off electricity for tens of thousands in Moore County. This resulted in the death of one woman who was reliant on an oxygen machine. Duke Energy says it has increased patrol and added surveillance cameras to some substations in the years since the attack. 'Protecting our infrastructure is an essential part of our commitment to delivering reliable energy to the communities we serve. We appreciate the efforts of policymakers to enhance the security of the electric grid in North Carolina and we look forward to continued dialogue on this issue,' Duke Energy said in a statement.
