Caitlyn Jenner escapes Israel amid war with Iran after attending Tel Aviv Pride events

ALBAWABA - Caitlyn Jenner flees Israel by land as war with Iran escalates and airspace remains closed.
Olympic gold medalist and transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner was able to flee Israel on Sunday during the fast-intensifying armed war with Iran, which is currently in its fourth day.
The city's LGBT pride celebrations were canceled after Israel launched a series of raids on Tehran on Friday, killing key military officials and nuclear scientists and destroying multiple nuclear sites. Jenner, 75, had been in Tel Aviv as the city's honored guest.
Iran retaliated with a volley of ballistic missiles directed at densely populated areas in cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, closing all airspace. The Times of Israel reported that Jenner managed to escape the nation by land and enter neighboring Jordan, whose airspace has been sometimes open and sometimes closed during the conflict.

Jenner intends to take a plane back to Los Angeles from there. The Hollywood Reporter was unable to promptly verify Jenner's activities with her reps in Los Angeles.
As part of a widely reported goodwill tour, Jenner touched down at Ben Gurion Airport on Thursday. The Israeli government welcomed her during its three-year war with Hamas. She expressed her support for Israel and its people in a number of posts she wrote during the missile attacks.
"What a wonderful Shabbat celebration it has been. I'm in Tel Aviv, Israel, with all of you. "I am an ally, friend, and supporter," Jenner wrote on X.
Jenner shared a powerful image of Tel Aviv's skies illuminated by the Iron Dome defense system catching Iranian rockets on Instagram.
A night in Tel Aviv that was "quiet." I would rather be with the courageous Israelites than somewhere else. "God, please keep us safe and protected," the caption said.

Israeli influencer Regev Gur posted a picture of Jenner in a bomb shelter, sipping a glass of red wine. Gur wrote, "What did you do during the alerts, since I'm having wine with Caitlyn?" Later, he removed the post.
As IDF war jets blasted overhead on Friday, CNN political commentator Scott Jennings, another well-known American stuck in the battle, spoke to THR from his hotel room in Tiberias.
As the war continues, Jennings stays in Israel. He has since moved to Jerusalem after the interview. He posted a video of approaching missiles amidst thick smoke and screaming air raid sirens in his most recent post on X.
Jennings writes, "Last night, 4am footage from Jerusalem." You can hear the boom and occasionally feel the shaking when these intercepts occur. Please offer up prayers for the Israelis who were killed and wounded by Iranian missile strikes.
Reuters reports that Iran's reaction has killed at least 24 Israelis and injured 500 more. Ninety percent of the 224 verified deaths, according to the Iranian authorities, were civilians.
Throughout the night and into Monday morning, there have been many reports of loud explosions throughout Tehran. Citing impending action, the IDF has issued evacuation advisories to multiple districts.

Video: 'Soldiers of God' group attacks church in Nazareth

ALBAWABA - A group called "Soldiers of God" has attacked the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth city. The group has broken down the outer gate, caused chaos in the churchyard, and had a verbal fight with the church's priest, according to the Orthodox Community Council's statement on Sunday. The council said, "A group of people calling themselves 'Soldiers of God' attacked the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, breaking the outer gate, causing chaos in the courtyard, and ringing the Church bell, which constitutes a desecration of a holy and historical site. The leadership of the community council confronted them, and they were expelled from the site in the presence of police." It further mentioned that the attack took place on Sunday evening, when the church was closed, they broke the lock on the outer gate, stormed into the courtyard, and rang the church bell, claiming that they were 'protesting' the terrorist attack that took place at St. Elias Church in Damascus, Syria last week. Immediately, the head of the Orthodox Community Council, attorney Bassem Asfour, along with priest Father Semaan Bajali, a number of council members, the representative body, and activists, arrived at the scene. They confronted the attackers and called the police, leading to their evacuation from the holy site. The Community Council then filed a police complaint against the attackers. Syria's church attack: At least 25 people have been killed and 63 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack on June 22 that took place inside a church in Damascus, Syria, the country's health ministry revealed. Two men entered a church, opened fire with a weapon at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Saint Elias in the Dweila neighbourhood during a Sunday mass before detonating an explosive vest, according to the interior ministry.

In lieu of defeating Hamas, Netanyahu elevates release of Gaza captives to top priority

'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that his their "victory" over Iran in their 12-day war had created "opportunities", first including freeing captives held in Gaza. "Many opportunities have opened up now following this victory. First of all, to rescue the hostages," Netanyahu said in an address to officers of the security services. "Of course, we will also have to solve the Gaza issue, to defeat Hamas, but I estimate that we will achieve both goals," he added. In a statement late Sunday, the main group representing the captives' families welcomed "the fact that after 20 months, the return of the hostages has finally been designated as the top priority by the prime minister". "This is a very important statement that must translate into a single comprehensive deal to bring back all 50 hostages and end the fighting in Gaza," the 'Hostages and Missing Families Forum' said. Palestinian armed groups seized 251 captives during the events of October 7, 2023. Of these, 49 are still believed to be held in Gaza, including 27 the 'Israeli' military says are dead. Hamas also holds the body of an 'Israeli' soldier killed there in 2014. The forum called for the captives' "release, not rescue".
