New comedy about Blur and Oasis rivalry heading to Glasgow
It will run at the city's Theatre Royal from May 26 until May 30, 2026.
READ MORE: Glasgow to be hotter than Ibiza in summer burst this week
Written by Sunday Times bestselling novelist and screenwriter John Niven, and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Matthew Dunster, the play dives into the heart of the Britpop explosion — exploring the friendships, feuds, fame, and fallout that came to define an unforgettable era.
John Niven said: '1995: a time long before music splintered into a billion different TikTok feeds.
"When music was so central to the culture that two pop groups could dominate the entire summer, the evening news and the front page of every newspaper in the country.
"We're going to take you back there. I've never written for the stage before, and it has been an absolute blast to do so for the first time with a producer as supportive as Simon and a director as talented as Matthew.'

Set in London at the height of Britpop, the play brings to life the chaos of the Brit Awards, the frenzied tabloid wars, and the moment two bands dominated headlines, airwaves, and living rooms across the country.
Matthew Dunster said: 'I remember the Battle of the Bands. I remember the charts that week. Music mattered.
"I remember being in my twenties in 1995. What a wild time. Full of energy, naughtiness and hilarity.
"Just like John Niven's play. I'm so delighted to be working with John on such a punchy, hilarious and revealing comedy about two of the best bands of all time, Blur and Oasis.'

Simon Friend, the producer, added: 'Throughout my sister's teenage years, she had an enormous poster of Damon Albarn on her wall, and I remember her falling out with friends over which band they loved more.
"Ever since, this story has been in the back of my mind, and I was delighted that John Niven agreed to write it because there is no more qualified or hilarious chronicler of this world, and combined with Matthew Dunster directing, we have a fearless team recreating the sweaty mid-'90s carnage of The Battle of Britpop.'
John Niven, a former music industry insider turned bestselling author, is known for Kill Your Friends, The Trip, and How to Build A Girl.

American shoppers jealous after visiting Costco abroad... and sampling 'wild' food court menu items
Shoppers were full of jealousy after a TikTok user revealed food court offerings at a Costco in Japan. The TikToker, known as racquecitytravels, visited a Costco in Tokyo this month and ordered items like a 20-piece chicken stick bucket and matcha ice cream. 'If you have the time in your itinerary, I suggest spending an afternoon at your closest Costco trying out the different food court menu items & shopping around,' she wrote in her video caption. Other items commenters couldn't stop freaking out about on the food court menu included a jumbo Bulgogi Bake, melon smoothie, and the fan-favorite combo pizza, which has been discontinued in the US. Now that shoppers have gotten a hint of the location's menu, many of them are looking to visit Japan just to order one of its 'wild' offerings. 'I needed a reason to move … and this was the icing on the cake,' a commenter wrote. 'I would go into extreme debt shopping in the Japan Costco,' a shopper responded. 'Everything in Japan is just better than USA I'm starting to see that,' another Costco member added. Several TikTok users were stunned to see that matcha ice cream was available at Costco in Tokyo Out of over 900 Costco stores worldwide, Japan is home to nearly 40 locations as of this year. The first store opened in 1999 in Hisayama, Fukuoka Prefecture, and it wasn't an easy task in making sure it would be suitable for Japanese culture. 'We had to change some of our apparel. The sizing on men's shirts in Japan, Korea and Taiwan is entirely different,' Costco co-founder Jim Seinegal told the Seattle Times. 'Our Kirkland Signature shirt has an Asian cut to it, slimmer in the waist and smaller sizes.' Despite the changes, Costco was not afraid to bring some of its American-style menu options to menus, including its signature hot dogs. The Japanese stores are also full of Kirkland branded baked goods, which were described as a ' staple at Japanese supermarkets.' Besides the Tokyo store's scrumptious food court items, TikTokers went crazy for its toys, including its Godzilla figure. 'Godzilla figures at a Costco?! - I'm in the wrong country man,' a shopper commented. Several items ranging from KitKat bars to Godzilla toys are available to purchase at Costco stores in Japan Japan is currently home to nearly 40 stores. As of now, there are over 900 locations worldwide The US has the highest Costco store count worldwide, with more than 600 locations. Many of these stores have implemented changes recently that have ignited fury from shoppers. Backlash began last year after the chain hiked its membership prices for the first time in seven years. It got worse that December after the company announced its plan to replace Pepsi beverages with Coca-Cola. Some members claimed they'd boycott the store after the change was confirmed in January, and the situation worsened in March once the first Coca-Cola machine was spotted in a newly-opened California location.

The homeowner, who is known as 'reynoldsresidence' on TikTok, shared her top picks she found at her local B&M store. She managed to get her hands on a small, ribbed candle in a speckled cup, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to shelves or coffee tables. She also discovered a wonderfully soft throw, priced at just a tenner, that "honestly feels like cashmere." Its two-tone, wave design makes it a versatile piece for draping over a sofa or adding comfort to a bedroom. Another standout find was a small woven basket, a mere £4, which she plans to use for flannels in her new bathroom. She also raved about a textured, cement-like decor piece for £5, suggesting it's ideal for holding a small candle and praising its "rugged and kind of neutral vibes." Candles and diffusers were clearly a focus, with the TikToker picking up a ceramic jar candle for £5, noting its "luxury on a budget" feel, and a glass candle and matching diffuser with striking white and brown stripes, each just £4. However, the "piece de resistance" of her haul was a statement lamp, costing £20. The lamp, with its neutral shade, textured base, and waved design, perfectly fit the bill. I restored a tatty £80 sofa I got on Facebook - trolls say it looked better before but they need to trust the process Shared on 5 June, the video from @reynoldsresidence has already amassed over 264,800 views and 96 comments as many people rush to share their thoughts. Not everyone can afford Zara.' 3 Loved that it looked similar to the Zara Home collection Credit: tiktok/@reynoldsresidence And a third commented: 'Loved the haul, definitely taking a look in my B&M tomorrow.' Marcus Rashford's journey to Barcelona almost scuppered by OASIS ahead of transfer
Marcus Rashford has touched down in Barcelona to complete a medical ahead of his season-long loan move to the La Liga champions, but the journey wasn't straightforward Oasis nearly scuppered Marcus Rashford's masterplan as he attempted to travel to Barcelona and complete his hotly-anticipated transfer move. Rashford, 27, is leaving Manchester United on a season-long loan after he was made part of the Red Devils' five-man bomb squad. The England international will join Barca on a temporary basis before a £26million option to buy becomes active next summer. Just before 9pm on Sunday, Rashford's private jet landed in Barcelona. But the United wantaway and his representatives had hassle getting up in the sky. Rashford had planned to take a private jet from Manchester but ended up having to travel to East Midlands Airport. That's because all of the slots at Manchester Airport's private terminal were full thanks to Oasis and their rabid fans, according to the Sun. The reunited rockers played their final homecoming gig at Heaton Park on Sunday. While match-going Manchester City fan and legendary guitarist Noel Gallagher travelled by train, his City-supporting brother and lead singer Liam flew via private jet from his home in the south of France. Celebrities have also flown in from around the world to watch Oasis perform 16 years after the brothers' explosive split which contributed to a packed Manchester terminal. A source said: "Marcus' travel plans were disrupted so it was all a bit stressful but he would have walked to Barcelona to sign for them. Noel and Liam can have a laugh that they accidentally put a spanner in the works." Upon finally landing in Barcelona, Rashford was filmed getting into a car taking him to a hotel, where he'll sleep before having a medical on Monday. The 27-year-old didn't offer any words, but he gave a smile and a thumbs-up to journalists and supporters who were welcoming him. Rashford identified Barca as his dream move after being told that he had no future under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Last month, the forward was asked by Spanish YouTube channel XBuyer whether he wants to play with Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal in the future, and his response was telling. "Yeah, sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best," Rashford replied. "So hopefully, we'll see." Rashford added: "Spain is nice, it's not too far from home. If I'm training over a long period, my family can come for a few days, it's a nice location and good weather."
