'Fewer cases hanging over him': Najib happy with SRC DNAA
Najib's lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, said the former prime minister is pleased with the decision of High Court judge K. Muniandy, who had issued the DNAA order today.
"He is happy simply because there are not too many cases hanging over his head. He has been asking for a DNAA for sometime.
"He can concentrate on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case now," said Shafee in a press conference after court proceedings.

Govt will take follow-up action on royal addendum, says Zahid
A royal addendum to a pardons board decision on Najib Razak's sentence is currently the subject of a case before the Federal Court. PETALING JAYA : The government will follow-up on a royal order allowing former prime minister Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest, says deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Efforts to act on the matter according to legal procedures will be made as fast as possible, 'but it depends heavily on the powers of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which we must all respect,' he told Kangar Umno members at their delegates meeting today in Perlis. He said he has discussed the matter in detail with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, according to a Harian Metro report. Zahid said the legal process would also involve the pardons board, as the king presides over board meetings. Najib is serving a 12-year jail sentence in Kajang prison after being convicted in 2022 of misappropriating RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd. He later applied for a pardon, with the Federal Territories Pardons Board reducing his prison sentence from 12 years to six, and a RM210 million fine to RM50 million. The former prime minister later took the government to court for action to reveal the existence of a royal addendum to the pardons board decision, and to enforce the order allowing him to serve the remainder of his jail sentence under house arrest. The royal addendum is now the subject of an appeal by the government which is being heard by the Federal Court.

How finding Jho Low in luxury Shanghai enclave seems an impossible task
FUGITIVE financier Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, wanted in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, is allegedly residing in the upscale Green Hills compound in Shanghai, according to investigative journalists Bradley Hope and Tom Wright. The pair, who first exposed the scandal, claimed in a recent livestream that Low is using a forged Australian passport under the alias 'Constantinos Achilles Veis' to travel freely in China. Green Hills, built in 2004 and spanning 410,000 sqm in Pudong, is a high-security estate of Tudor-style bungalows favoured by wealthy locals and expats. Residents describe it as quiet and private, with little neighbourly interaction. Some acknowledge hearing rumours of 'famous businessmen' but express disinterest in their identities. The Singapore Straits Times visited the area. It says access was tightly controlled, with guards requiring a specific house number and surname for entry. Residents confirmed the estate is home to affluent families, many with children attending nearby international schools. Monthly rent can reach up to 100,000 yuan (S$12,500), and homes sell for as much as 150 million yuan. Malaysian authorities have cast doubt on the claim that Jho Low is living a great life in China, while Australia has raised concerns over the alleged use of a forged passport. China has long denied sheltering Low, whose whereabouts have been unknown since 2016. He was spotted in Macau, and a suspect in the 1MDB scandal died weeks after being deported to Malaysia to face questioning over his role in the US$4.5bil fraud. Kee Kok Thiam died in hospital in 2023 following a 'sudden massive stroke' and was cremated on Wednesday morning, Kee's family said in a statement. Nevertheless, the renewed allegations highlight ongoing frustrations in tracking down Low, a central figure in the multi-billion-dollar scandal that led to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's imprisonment. The journalists who revealed Jho Low's Shanghai domain have also hit back at our Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, who said last week that Malaysia did not have any credible evidence of Jho Low's whereabouts. This led to Tom Wright asking on the X platform whether Saifuddin was calling them liars. There has been no response from the Home Ministry since then. — July 26, 2025

Najib's royal addendum: I've discussed with PM, but it's up to the King, says Zahid
KANGAR: The implementation of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's addendum decree for house arrest will be expedited but remains subject to the discretion of the King, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He added that due process must be respected, with the legal proceedings involving the addendum decree to go through the Pardons Board. "This step will still follow the legal process under the Pardons Board, which is currently chaired by the King. That is what must be respected in this ongoing process," he said. He was speaking to reporters after officiating the Kangar Umno division delegates' meeting at a hotel here today. Also present were Kangar Umno division chief Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, who is also Perlis Umno liaison deputy chairman; Perlis Umno liaison chairman Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman; and the heads of Kangar Umno's Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings. Zahid said he had met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to discuss in detail the legal steps required to act on the decree. "Regarding the addendum decree, I have met with the prime minister and we've had detailed discussions on the legal process that must be followed. "God willing, follow-up action will be taken in accordance with legal procedures," he said. Najib, who has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022, for misappropriating RM42 million in funds belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd, filed a petition for a royal pardon on Sept 2, 2022. The Pardons Board later reduced his jail term from 12 years to six, and his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million, in February last year.
