Cork boosted by timely return of three-time All-Star as Pat Ryan names team to face Tipperary in All-Ireland final

SÉAMUS HARNEDY has been included among the Cork subs for Sunday's All-Ireland SHC final against Tipperary.
The veteran forward, who is in line to feature in his fourth Liam MacCarthy Cup decider, missed the semi-final win over Dublin with a hamstring injury.

But three-time All-Star Harnedy is back in the panel for the first time since the Munster final win over Limerick.
Cork boss Pat Ryan has named an unchanged team from the 20-point trouncing of the Dubs, with youngster Diarmuid Healy set to continue as Harnedy's deputy.
Addressing Harnedy's fitness at his side's recent press night, Ryan admitted: 'We'd be confident that he'll hopefully be able to take some part.
"Our medical staff are working hard and Séamus is working hard himself.
'He's putting every day into it and there's a lot of recovery needed for that.
'What'll happen is if he's right, he's right. If he's not right, we'll go with what we have. We have great confidence in the lads we have.'
Healy's inclusion is also the only change from the team that started last year's final against Clare, which ended in a one-point defeat for the Rebels after extra-time.
Cormac O'Brien has also been deemed fit enough to take a place on the bench after a quad injury sidelined the wing-back last time out.
It is the first time in this Championship campaign that Cork have selected an unchanged side.
Ethan Twomey and Jack O'Connor — who both featured in the 2024 decider — have been omitted from the squad.

Twomey was one of the stars of the National League final win over Tipperary in April as the St Finbarr's man bagged 1-2 from midfield.
The Tipp team is set to be unveiled today.
CORK (SHC v Tipperary): P Collins; N O'Leary, E Downey, S O'Donoghue; C Joyce, R Downey, M Coleman; T O'Mahony, D Fitzgibbon; D Healy, S Barrett, D Dalton; P Horgan, A Connolly, B Hayes.

"Upon commencement of the competition, Basketball Ireland would be subject to a fine of up to €80,000 should Ireland fail to fulfil their first fixture with Israel, while failure to play the return game would lead to a fine of up to €100,000 and removal from the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers, as well as the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2029 Qualifiers," Basketball Ireland said. "Should Basketball Ireland elect to withdraw from the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers campaign entirely before they commence, a fine of up to €30,000 would be applied, while FIBA Europe rules state that they 'may impose additional sanctions according to the FIBA Internal Regulations - Book 1 - General Provisions (Chapter 6)', which includes 'disqualification from a competition in progress and/or exclusion from future competitions'."

McGuinness urges Donegal to 'make the chance count'

Donegal manager Jim McGuinness said the ghosts of 2014 haunted him for a long time but are now at the back of his mind as his team prepare to face Kerry in Sunday's All-Ireland football Kingdom won by three points in the 2014 decider, which proved to be the Glenties man's last game in charge, but 10 years later he returned to the Donegal sideline after moving into soccer with Celtic before spells in China and the United home is where the heart is and the opportunity to manage Donegal for a second time proved too good to turn up for that 2014 loss may have been part of the motivation, but now back in the job, it's all about what's ahead, rather than what has been and gone."Your heart is always in your county so when the opportunity came and the conversations came up about coming back, they take legs in your mind," he told BBC Sport NI."I'm delighted we had those conversations and got back on the horse, so hopefully we can give it our best shot."The 2014 final was stuck in my head a long time, probably up until the point I came back in. You're always thinking about that, but as a manager, a coach or a player, the two weeks' [build-up to the final] is not a time for reflection. The time for reflection is when the final whistle goes." McGuinness is not the only recent returnee - as his captain from the 2012 All-Ireland success, Michael Murphy, came out of retirement to bolster the squad this year, having initially stepped away in 2022."It's brilliant to have him," said the Donegal boss."He's been immense and any of the younger lads, he's been brilliant with them. It's fantastic to have the footballer, but also the leader. Hopefully there's another big day in Michael."It will require a big performance from Murphy and the rest of his team-mates if they are to finish the job on Sunday as they come up against a Kerry side laden with is plenty to ponder for the Donegal boss, not least what to do with David Clifford, but it is a challenge he says they all must embrace."The challenge is fairly immense," he acknowledges."When you get the pen and paper out to think about David Clifford, it can be a blank page for a long time. He is an elite player and one of the best we've ever seen, if not the best. His brother [Paudie] and Sean O'Shea are all elite players who, on any given day, can beat you, but David is a bit special. The challenge he and those other lads will be huge, but that's where we want to be."The boys have done really well to create this opportunity and we are just hoping they can show their best colours and make it count."
