Cork boosted by timely return of three-time All-Star as Pat Ryan names team to face Tipperary in All-Ireland final

SÉAMUS HARNEDY has been included among the Cork subs for Sunday's All-Ireland SHC final against Tipperary. The veteran forward, who is in line to feature in his fourth Liam MacCarthy Cup decider, missed the semi-final win over Dublin with a hamstring injury. 2 2 But three-time All-Star Harnedy is back in the panel for the first time since the Munster final win over Limerick. Cork boss Pat Ryan has named an unchanged team from the 20-point trouncing of the Dubs, with youngster Diarmuid Healy set to continue as Harnedy's deputy. Addressing Harnedy's fitness at his side's recent press night, Ryan admitted: 'We'd be confident that he'll hopefully be able to take some part. "Our medical staff are working hard and Séamus is working hard himself. 'He's putting every day into it and there's a lot of recovery needed for that. 'What'll happen is if he's right, he's right. If he's not right, we'll go with what we have. We have great confidence in the lads we have.' Healy's inclusion is also the only change from the team that started last year's final against Clare, which ended in a one-point defeat for the Rebels after extra-time. Cormac O'Brien has also been deemed fit enough to take a place on the bench after a quad injury sidelined the wing-back last time out. It is the first time in this Championship campaign that Cork have selected an unchanged side. Ethan Twomey and Jack O'Connor — who both featured in the 2024 decider — have been omitted from the squad. 'Easiest interview I've ever had' jokes RTE GAA host after pundits go back and forth before Meath vs Donegal Twomey was one of the stars of the National League final win over Tipperary in April as the St Finbarr's man bagged 1-2 from midfield. The Tipp team is set to be unveiled today. CORK (SHC v Tipperary): P Collins; N O'Leary, E Downey, S O'Donoghue; C Joyce, R Downey, M Coleman; T O'Mahony, D Fitzgibbon; D Healy, S Barrett, D Dalton; P Horgan, A Connolly, B Hayes. Subs: B Saunderson, D Cahalane, G Millerick, C O'Brien, T O'Connell, L Meade, B Roche, S Harnedy, R O'Flynn, C Lehane, S Kingston.

Pat Ryan makes three changes to Cork team for All-Ireland SHC semi-final against Dublin

Pat Ryan has made three changes to his Cork team for their All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final showdown with Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday evening. By the time the Rebels run out at the GAA's HQ, it will be four weeks since their last outing and their dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Limerick in the Munster final. And while the time off has given a number of players the opportunity to recover ahead of the last four clash in the capital (throw-in is at 5pm) they have also suffered a couple of injury blows. Read More Pat Ryan rules out naming Cork 'dummy team' as fresh injury doubt emerges Cork v Dublin: What time, what channel and all you need to know about the All-Ireland SHC semi-final As reported earlier in the week, Séamus Harnedy misses out with a hamstring injury and he has been replaced in the half-forward line by Declan Dalton while Robert Downey replaces Cormac O'Brien in the half-back line and Niall O'Leary comes in for Damien Cahalane at right corner-back. Cahalane drops to the substitutes bench where he will be joined by Shane Kingston and Conor Lehane, both of whom impressed from the bench against Limerick, but Harnedy and O'Brien have failed to make the 26-man squad. Ger Millerick has also recovered in time to make the panel. The Rebels are hoping to reach back-to-back All-Ireland hurling finals and move one step closer to landing the Liam MacCarthy Cup for the first time in 20 years. But standing in their way is a Dublin side that will be buoyed by their memorable victory over Limerick in the quarter-finals two weeks earlier. They have yet to name their starting 15. CORK (v Dublin): P Collins; N O'Leary, E Downey, S O'Donoghue; C Joyce, R Downey, M Coleman; T O'Mahony, D Fitzgibbon; D Healy, S Barrett (c), D Dalton; P Horgan, A Connolly, B Hayes. Subs: B Saunderson, D Cahalane, G Millerick, T O'Connell, E Twomey, L Meade, B Roche, J O'Connor, S Kingston, R O'Flynn, C Lehane.
