Naga Munchetty 'bullying' claims 'under review' by BBC after 'concerns over behaviour'

Naga Munchetty, who works on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 5 Live, is reportedly under review by BBC bosses after 'bullying' complaints BBC presenter Naga Munchetty has reportedly been placed under review by BBC bosses after they received a number of complaints about alleged 'hard' and 'bullying' behaviour. Naga, 50, has been a regular face on breakfast television and has hosted the BBC Breakfast since 2014. ‌ Meanwhile, she also has a show on BBC Radio 5 Live from Monday to Wednesday. However, sources claimed a number of colleagues filed complaints over her 'bullying' behaviour on both shows, with them saying the BBC has officially moved to "place the complaints under review". ‌ The Mirror have reached out to Naga's representatives and the BBC for comment. ‌ "The review is to ascertain whether a full-on investigation is required and that could come in weeks," the insider claimed to The Sun. A BBC spokesperson said: 'While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously and will not tolerate behaviour that is not in line with our values. We have robust processes in place and would encourage any staff with concerns to raise them directly with us so they can be addressed.' ‌ It comes after we previously reportedly the presenter could be set to walk away from her presenting roles at the publicly funded corporation. It was rumoured that she had been looking for a new job and could be moving to rival radio station LBC, and it was claimed the TV star's agents 'held talks' with the news radio station recently. ‌ Reports claimed that, despite her earning double that of her BBC Breakfast co-host Charlie Stayt, she is 'keen to leave', following reports of a different bullying row surrounding the early-morning programme. Last month it was reported BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani, who has been editing the show since 2019, was taking 'extended leave' from the programme after industry insiders complained about his conduct. The show's editor 'shouts and swears' at colleagues while ruling the breakfast programme, it was claimed. A source claimed Richard was taking a break because of the 'damning' allegations, adding: "He needed time to reflect." ‌ Not long after, it was reported that presenter Naga didn't get along with Richard, while many staff members came out in defence of Richard, and it has been claimed Naga's co-host Charlie also had a strained relationship with Frediani. Speaking in defence of Richard, one insider told the Mirror last month: "He is not a bully at all and the truth will come out. He's a great boss and was - and is still - overwhelmingly loved by the team, who respect his drive, expertise, and journalistic ambition. He has delivered great audiences and the first ever Bafta for breakfast TV. "He can be brash and opinionated but works so hard for his team and allows people to flourish." ‌ Another source told the Mirror that some were disappointed with Naga after she raised concerns. They explained: "Yes, he is old-school and can rub people up the wrong way but it's always in the pursuit of great television. "It's the best-rating breakfast show in the country - it's not supposed to be a walk in the park. Some - Naga included - need to understand this. It feels like it's a case of presenter power turfing out a brilliant journalist."

185-year-old Bridgerton costumier Angels screens investors

One of the world's leading supplier of costumes to stars of stage and screen is in talks to secure external investment for the first time in its 185-year-old history. Sky News has learnt that Angels, which is based in London, is working with advisers to raise millions of pounds from the sale of a minority stake in the business. Kroll, the professional services firm, has been engaged to oversee the talks with prospective investors, which has been dubbed Project Carousel. This weekend, City sources said that Angels - which was founded in 1840 - had initiated talks with a number of parties who had a track record of investing in the media and showbusiness industries. Initial offers are understood to have been submitted in the last six weeks, with discussions ongoing. The company's principal clients include the BBC, Netflix, Amazon's Prime Video, Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Company. It saw its financial performance hit hard by the pandemic and then the Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes in 2023, which brought much of the film and television industries to a standstill. Angels has been through seven generations of family ownership, and is currently chaired by Tim Angel, a former chairman of BAFTA. The company was founded by Daniel Angel, who had arrived in London from Frankfurt in 1813 and set up a barrow selling secondhand clothing. Years later, when an actor asked if he could rent a suit rather than buy it from Mr Angel, his hire business took off, according to an history of the business published online. Notable moments in Angels' history included being called in during the 1920s to re-dress Madame Tussauds' collection of waxworks after the premises had been destroyed by fire. The company has supplied costumes for 47 Best Costume Oscar-winners, including Hamlet, Doctor Zhivago, Star Wars, Chariots of Fire, Braveheart, The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, The Great Gatsby, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. It has also played a role supplying 37 Best Costume BAFTA-winners, according to information circulated by Kroll to potential investors. In 2016, Angels was itself awarded a BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema. Angels' collection of costumes numbers more than 1 million items, which would stretch for more than ten miles if hung next to each other. Its former head office on London's Shaftesbury Avenue is now a fancy dress shop with costumes available for hire. "Our industry has been through some of its toughest years, from COVID and strikes to the LA fires, at one point leaving over 80% of our sector unemployed," said Jeremy Angel, a director of Angels. "We stood by our staff, protected the business, and made it through. "We are optimistic now with many new productions starting and government incentives coming in [and are] seeking a small investment to help us grow and continue supporting designers, directors, and actors, just as we've done since my family founded the business in 1840." Angels is understood to have recorded a loss in its last financial year but is forecasting a return to profitability in 2026, according to figures supplied by Kroll to interested parties.

He's starred in ITV 's Rivals and Sky's Mr. Bigstuff, which earned him a BAFTA for his performance. They said, 'Listen we want you to come in the show, take over the Queen Vic' and at the time I was skint and I just had about enough petrol money to get there, that's the truth. "They thought I was a multimillionaire and I met them in the hotel and I walked in absolutely skint, not a bean about me. I thought, I hope they don't ask me to get them a lager because I've got no dough." He added: "I went, 'I'll think about it' and then I walked out and I did a couple of backflips on the way out! I played it right down, I didn't want to look desperate and I was desperate."
