Nigeria fights back to stun Morocco and win 10th Women's Africa Cup of Nations title - Africa
Morocco was up 2-0 until Esther Okoronkwo led Nigeria back with a penalty and two assists in the final half hour.
The continent's most successful national team kept intact its perfect record in the competition's finals with its comeback victory in Rabat.
The Super Falcons had started the tournament with what they called 'Mission X,' a quest to re-establish their dominance.
After smashing Morocco's hopes for a first title, Nigeria celebrated with a social media post saying 'Mission X Accomplished.'
Nigeria had lost to Morocco in the semifinals of the previous edition in 2022, and they looked to be going down again until a handball sparked a late rally.
Morocco up early before Nigeria rallies late
The Atlas Lionesses dominated the first half. Ghizlane Chebbak curled a shot from outside the box for a 13th-minute lead and 11 minutes later Sanaâ Mssoudy added a second goal.
But Okoronkwo pulled one back for Nigeria in the 64th when she converted a penalty after a video review spotted a handball in the area by Nouhaila Benzina.
Okoronkwo soon turned assist-maker to set up Folashade Ijamilusi to level it in the 71st.
Substitute Joe Echegini, a Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, scored the winner in the 88th with a right-footed shot from the center of the area after a free kick by Okoronkwo.
Morocco lost the 2022 final to South Africa. Coach Jorge Vilda took over Morocco after leading Spain to the 2023 World Cup title.
On Friday, Ghana beat South Africa on penalties to claim third place.

Bayern agree deal to sign Liverpool winger Diaz: reports - World
German champions Bayern Munich have agreed to sign Liverpool winger Luis Diaz in a £65.5 million ($88 million) deal, according to multiple reports on Sunday. Bayern had an initial offer of £59 million rejected by the Premier League champions last week, but their improved bid looks set to bring the Colombia international to the Allianz Arena. Diaz's impending signing gives Bayern a quality replacement for Germany forward Jamal Musiala, who has been ruled out for a "long period" after he suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle at the Club World Cup this month. Liverpool have been busy in the transfer window, bolstering their attacking options with expensive swoops for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Oscar Piastri held off his McLaren teammate Lando Norris to win the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc came third as Piastri stretched his lead in the drivers' standings over Norris to 16 points. Heavy rain delayed the 13th round of the season by 80 minutes, with organisers eventually allowing a rolling start after four laps behind the safety car as the sun finally appeared. Pole sitter Norris was quickly passed by Piastri as Norris complained he had a problem with his car's battery. Kwesi Appiah banks on Al-Hilal core as Sudan names squad for CHAN 2024
