Nebraska football to sell alcohol at Memorial Stadium during Saturday's Big Red Preview
This is the first time ever that alcohol is being sold at a Nebraska football event and just the third time ever at Memorial Stadium. A Garth Brooks concert and Volleyball Day in Nebraska sold alcohol at Memorial Stadium with approval from the school.
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the sale of alcohol at Memorial Stadium and the Devaney Center this past October, expanding beyond Nebraska basketball, baseball, and softball.
The Big Red Preview is an open practice for the team, their sixth practice of the preseason camp. It is also the team's first practice in full pads, and fans will see the team in action on Memorial Stadium's brand-new playing surface.
Concessions and drinks, including beer, will be available on the main concourse of West Stadium and on field level in North Stadium during the Big Red Preview. The event is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Prior to the open practice, the team is holding its annual Fan Day in the afternoon, where fans can interact with the players in a free event and receive autographs.

Bill Belichick, UNC not in rush to name starting QB
Will Max Johnson, Gio Lopez or Bryce Baker be named UNC's Week 1 starter? Saturday was a massive day for the UNC football program, which kicked off Training Camp and inched closer to the start of live football action. One of North Carolina's greatest storylines entering Training Camp – and one that'll continue until the season opener on September 1 against TCU – is who will be starting quarterback. The Tar Heels return initial 2024 starter Max Johnson, who is fully recovered from a broken leg suffered in last year's opener at Minnesota. UNC also nabbed South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez in the transfer portal, while landing a commitment from in-state, 4-star quarterback Bryce Baker. During media availability to open Training Camp, North Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick spoke on his new team's quarterback battle – and when he hopes to have a decision by. "We don't have a specific date," Belichick said. "I think the time will be when we're sure. What you don't want to do is pick player A – and then end up going to player B. Let them compete and then once you're sure it's player B, make it player B or player A, whoever goes. I think once we're confident that we know who has earned that spot, cause that's what it'll be, it's not us picking them, it'll be that player earning it. After the Tar Heels hit the Bill Koman Practice Field, Johnson spoke to the media for several minutes. Johnson echoed Belichick's sentiments, while also describing what he needs to do in order to be named QB1. "The best man's going to play and whoever that is, I know Coach Belichick's going to make the best decision," Johnson said. "I'm just blessed to be here, be able to compete. It just feels good to be able to do it again.' 'I think just trying to be as consistent as I can be," Johnson continued. "Don't get too high, don't get too low. Don't make the bad plays worse. Focus on what they're (coaches) telling us. Take the checkdowns when it's there, take the shot when it's there and being able to manipulate the defense with your eyes. Don't change because of something good happening, something bad happening." Exactly 30 days from Saturday, Johnson will know whether he earns UNC's starting quarterback gig or not. He certainly has the collegiate experience factor, but Lopez and Baker have the 2024 live action Johnson doesn't. Kane Wommack updates status of injured Alabama defensive back
On Saturday afternoon, Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kane Wommack spoke to the media for what was the first time since fall camp officially began. As part of this, Wommack, who is entering his second season as defensive coordinator at Alabama, commented on many different areas of the Crimson Tide defense, some of which were players. Among that group of players in particular was returning safety Keon Sabb, who is currently working his way back from a season-ending injury sustained last October against Tennessee. Wommack was also asked the question if Sabb has since returned to 100% following Saturday's practice as well, with the Alabama defensive coordinator saying of the returning starter: "Keon's doing a really good job," Wommack said. "He has really pushed, our training staff's done a great job with him. I think he's ahead of really every marker that we had in the offseason for him, and we weren't sure if he was going to be able to go to the level that he's going right now at the beginning of fall camp, but he is, and he's here. I don't know if I could put a number on it exactly, but I mean, he's out there playing with our guys, and so he's comfortable enough to be able to do that. Sometimes, those injuries, you just have to build a callous of coming back, and I think that's something that he's really pushing himself right now to get ready for the season." Transferring from Michigan last offseason, Sabb was a day-one starter for the Crimson Tide at safety a year ago who compiled 39 tackles and 0.5 TFL across his seven games played. Sabb also had two interceptions, both of which came in the season opener against Western Kentucky. Sabb, a redshirt junior, is expected the start for the Crimson Tide at safety once again this fall, opposite of Bray Hubbard.
