French, German Schools Launch Eurocampus In Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- The French and German international schools in Kuala Lumpur have jointly launched the Eurocampus KL, marking a milestone that further strengthens European educational collaboration and ties with Malaysia.
Located in Mont Kiara, Eurocampus KL - one of only six such campuses globally - brings together the Lycée Français de Kuala Lumpur (LFKL) and the Deutsche Schule Kuala Lumpur (DSKL), which operate side by side on the same grounds while maintaining their respective curricula and identities.
French Ambassador to Malaysia Axel Cruau, in his remarks at the launch ceremony, said the Eurocampus reflects the strength of the Franco-German partnership and its significance for Malaysia.

He said the campus meets the growing demand for quality international education and reflects a shared ambition to nurture talent across ASEAN.
He described the Eurocampus as the start of a renewed educational vision between France, Germany and Malaysia.
'The Eurocampus is a living example of what we can achieve through shared trust and vision. It serves our communities, contributes to the building of Europe, and adds value here in Malaysia,' he said.
Cruau said the campus is the outcome of a collective commitment, including both school boards and the embassies, and expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian government for its support.
German Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Peter Blomeyer called the launch 'a truly good morning,' noting it had taken four years of ideas, discussions and goodwill to bring the vision to life.
'Our German and French children can now attend school together here. And more than just learning, they are encountering one another - this is how understanding is built,' he said.

Anwar lands in Paris for his inaugural visit as Prime Minister
PARIS: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will spend two days here on his inaugural visit to this European capital as Prime Minister. The visit, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, includes a tete-a-tete between the two leaders, followed by a delegation meeting at the Elysee Palace. Discussions will cover the overall state of Malaysia-France relations, with emphasis on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, defence, education and tourism, among other topics. Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including Asean-France Development Partnership, Asean-EU Dialogue Relations and the situation in West Asia. Eldeen Husaini said the Prime Minister's two-day visit has been elevated to an official visit. 'This reflects the importance of diplomatic ties between the two countries,' he told a press conference. Eldeen Husaini said as Asean Chair this year, the Prime Minister is also expected to bring up regional issues in his discussion with Macron such as the South China Sea, the South-East Asian economy and Malaysia's role as a neutral country. He said Anwar's visit is also to explore business collaboration opportunities through a roundtable discussion with France's industry captains. 'A total of 180 companies will participate in this session, which will also be attended by industry players from Malaysia,' he said. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to deliver a public lecture titled 'South-East Asia and Europe: Recalibrating the Terms of Engagement' at Sorbonne University. 'Among guests invited to the Prime Minister's lecture include ambassadors, think tanks, students and local media practitioners,' said Eldeen Husaini. France is one of Malaysia's top five trading partners in the European Union and a key source of FDI in high-tech and strategic sectors. In 2024, total trade between Malaysia and France amounted to RM15.95bil. From January to May this year, trade between Malaysia and France was recorded at RM6.26bil. While in Paris, the Prime Minister will also engage with the Malaysian diaspora. After France, Anwar is heading to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Italy set to invest RM8.13bil in Malaysia
ROME: Malaysia has successfully secured potential investments worth RM8.13bil from various sectors in Italy following Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's three-day official visit to Rome. While emphasising the significance of economic cooperation between the two nations, the Prime Minister said Malaysia is an important market for Italy in the South-East Asia region. 'The potential investments secured via the two meetings totalled RM8.13bil. 'It spans across sectors such as petrochemical, machinery and equipment, electrical and electronics, services as well as oil and gas,' Anwar said at his exit press conference before departing for Paris, France. Malaysia has also generated potential exports worth RM425mil in the oleochemicals, renewable energy, biofuel, feedstocks, animal feed additives as well as in the food industries, he added. Anwar said the Malaysian delegation's visit saw the meeting of over 100 captains of industries, business leaders and major companies from both countries. The Prime Minister had also invited his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, to Malaysia to foster closer ties between the two countries. During the working visit, Anwar also attended a gathering with some 120 Malaysians who are based in Italy. He also met with the Comunita Religiosa Islamica Italiana (Coreis) vice-president Imam Yahya Pallavicini and Islamic Cultural Centre of Italy-Grand Mosque of Rome secretary-general Abdellah Redouane. In 2024, the total trade between Malaysia and Italy saw a 2% year-on-year increase, to RM14.61bil (US$3.4bil). Between January and May 2025, bilateral trade grew by 3.3% year-on-year to RM6.5bil (US$1.5bil). Italy remained Malaysia's fifth-largest trading partner and the third-largest importer of Malaysian palm oil among European Union member states in 2024.

'Had a productive and meaningful meeting with PM Meloni where we reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening Malaysia-Italy relations,' Anwar said following the meeting, where they talked about deepening strategic collaboration across key sectors. 'We also exchanged views on critical regional and global developments. 'As chair of Asean, I highlighted Malaysia's role in enhancing Asean's engagement with key international partners such as Italy and the European Union,' he said in a press conference yesterday. 'It was a meaningful meeting with PM Meloni, which has opened the door to more comprehensive and productive bilateral discussions on strategic investments, defence, sustainable energy and the development of high-tech industries such as semiconductors, electric vehicles and artificial intelligence. 'I welcome the investments by leading Italian companies such as Leonardo, Fincantieri and ENI in Malaysia, and welcome the participation of Italian companies in our Special Economic Zones, as well as the implementation of industry training programmes which focus on sharing of expertise and technology transfer,' he added.
