Chicago Sky Send 3-Word Angel Reese Message Before Lynx Game

Yahoo06-05-2025
The Chicago Sky play their second preseason game on Tuesday evening as they inch closer toward the second season of forward Angel Reese's career. She and fellow 2024 first-round pick Kamilla Cardoso formed the best rookie duo in the WNBA last season, and they are looking to build on it and make a playoff push this season.
Reese led Chicago in their first exhibition game against the Brazil National Team, scoring 15 points and adding 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the preseason. Cardoso also had a solid performance, adding six points, eight rebounds, and two assists against her home country's national team.

Between their preseason opener and their second game against the Minnesota Lynx, however, Reese was out and about recognizing multiple major events off the court. Over the weekend, she celebrated her 23rd birthday by throwing a Y2K-themed party, and on Monday, she attended her second Met Gala in New York City.

New head coach Tyler Marsh supported Reese's decision to miss practice ahead of the Lynx matchup and attend the Met Gala because he felt she had worked hard in that realm and deserved to be honored. The Chicago Sky social media accounts felt that Reese should also be honored for something else on Tuesday.
"happy birthday Angel 🥳🎉," the Sky wrote.
While this is a big day for Reese personally, there is certainly business to attend to on Tuesday evening as Chicago takes on their first WNBA opponent since late last season. Their game against the Lynx will be a great measuring stick for this new-look Sky team.

The team's wishing Angel Reese a happy 23rd birthday also serves as a reminder of two big things. One is that Chicago has one of the biggest stars in all of sports, and it is remarkable to look back at all she has accomplished in such a short time. The other is that Reese is still so young, and depending on where your fandom lies, fortunately or unfortunately, she is just getting started.

Bulls trade proposal sends Coby White to West contender for coveted 15.3 ppg forward

This offseason has been a quiet but wild ride for the Chicago Bulls. Over the past year, the Bulls' roster has changed dramatically. After finishing 2024 with a team built around the star duo of DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, both of those wings have found themselves in Sacramento, with Chicago's youth movement taking over. This offseason has had plenty of twists and turns around the league, but the Bulls have mostly stayed out of the spotlight. However, as free agency has wound down, Chicago's lack of a deal with Josh Giddey has begun stealing headlines. Of course, the Bulls aren't the only team in that boat with a restricted free agent, and they could swoop in and make a deal with one of those other squads. As suggested by Bleacher Nation's Elias Schuster, the Bulls could make a deal for Jonathan Kuminga. A potential sign-and-trade could see Kuminga securing his desired contract while Chicago sends back Coby White on his $12.8 million deal. In the proposed trade, the Bulls would also get Trayce Jackson-Davis and a top-eight protected first-round pick. As Schuster mentioned, the Warriors simply need to get off of Kuminga before things get even worse in the Bay. While giving up Jackson-Davis and a future pick might not be ideal, getting back another proven scorer in White, who could be a perfect fit off the bench, would be hard for Golden State to turn down, especially at his salary. This deal won't necessarily solve all of the problems for either team, but it could be a step in the right direction for both franchises.
