Ford Recalls Over 300,000 Cars Due to Potential Brake-Related Issue. See the 5 Affected Models
The U.S. auto giant is recalling five different models of Ford vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The latest recall comes just over a month after Ford issued one affecting nearly 200,000 vehicles due to issues involving the electrical system and the latches and locks on the cars.
In April, Ford issued a recall for two potential problems affecting more than 148,000 cars. One could cause brake fluid to leak and reduce brake functionality, while the other could cause a vehicle rollaway and a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Why Are Ford Vehicles Being Recalled?
The potential for an Electronic Brake Booster module to malfunction while driving or while the driver is using an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) can result in the loss of power to brake assist, according to the NHTSA.
The brake assist issue can extend the distance it takes to stop and increase the risk of a crash. If drivers are using ADAS features, a loss of power to brake assist can result in the vehicle not braking as expected, per the NHTSA.

What Should You Do If Your Vehicle Is Subject to the Ford Recall?
You can take the vehicle to a dealer and have the software for the Electronic Brake Booster module updated free of charge, according to the NHTSA notice.
The software can also be updated over-the-air, meaning it can be sent remotely by Ford without a visit to a dealership.
Letters notifying owners of any vehicles subject to the recall are expected to be mailed on Aug. 25, and owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The number for this recall is 25S77.

Lucid Q2 earnings preview: Gravity SUV ramp, path to profitability big questions for investors
Pure-play EV maker Lucid (LCID) will report second quarter results after the bell as the company ramps up production of its Gravity SUV and hopes to assuage investors' fears over a lack of profitability. Meanwhile, Lucid stock is down over 20% year to date. Lucid is expected to report Q2 revenue of $262.4 million, per Bloomberg consensus estimates, higher than the $200.6 million reported a year ago. Lucid is expected to post an adjusted EPS loss of $0.22, with an adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) loss of $603.6 million. The company has had a busy 2025 so far, including the start of low-volume production of the Gravity SUV. The company also added access to the Tesla (TSLA) Supercharger network for its vehicles, unlocking more than 23,000 new chargers for use. Lucid also initiated plans to perform a 10-to-one reverse stock split, which won't occur until later this year. In terms of guidance, Lucid said in the past that it expects 2025 production to hit 20,000 EVs, more than double the 9,029 it produced last year. The company also said it would launch its upcoming midsize-volume SUV in 2026, which is expected to help the company increase scale and bring it closer to profitability. Profitability is the big question mark for the company. Given its production and expected loss figures, Lucid is expected to post an adjusted EBITDA loss figure of around $161,000 per car produced. On the earnings call, analysts likely will be asking management about how the company intends to bridge itself to profitability in the near future. Rivian (RIVN), for example, has achieved gross profit in its operations. The expected loss of the $7,500 federal tax credit on Sept. 30 is also likely to put a dent in Lucid's sales. Speed driver Chris Raschke dies attempting to set the land speed record during Utah racing event
A speed driver died while trying to break a record during the Bonneville Speed Week event in Utah on Sunday. Chris Raschke, 60, was driving at 283 miles per hour while trying to set a land speed record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats. Unfortunately, he lost control of his vehicle two and a half miles into his run, which led to his passing, according to reports. Medical staff quickly acted on the scene before Raschke succumbed to his injuries. In a statement from the Southern California Timing Association, they revealed that the cause of the incident was still under investigation. "At approximately 3:03 p.m. Mountain Time today, driver Chris Raschke was attempting a speed record and lost control of his land speed vehicle at approximately the 2 1/2 mile," The SCTA stated. "Chris was treated by medical professionals at the scene. Unfortunately, Chris passed away from his injuries." Raschke was part of the Speed Demon team out of Ventura, California and drove the Speed Demon Streamliner — a long, narrow, aerodynamic vehicle made to run at high speeds. According to the team website, he began working in motorsports in the 1980s and has been with the Speed Demon team for 13 years. "At this time, we ask everyone to please respect Chris's family, friends, and the Speed Demon team. We are deeply devastated," the team said in a statement. Aside from the Speed Demon team, the American Hot Rod Foundation also mourned Raschke's death. "To those who knew him on the salt, he was someone who found the perfect balance of friendly and competitive. Never a usual combination and one that speaks to the quality of his character," the association stated. "We send our deepest sympathies to Chris's family and friends." The Southern California Timing Association reported that 18 records were set in a total of 261 runs on Sunday. Seven of the records were achieved by cars and 11 were by motorcycles. Speed Week race director Keith Pedersen said Raschke's death was a huge blow to the community. "It's much more of a camaraderie and community, and that builds a lot of friendships and trust," Pedersen told KUTV. "He's a big part of it, and he will be sorely missed." Speed Week will continue at the Bonneville Salt Flats through Friday, August 8.
