Exclusive: Ramayan's Dipika Chikhlia on if she was approached for Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus Ramayana; says ‘I cannot play any character in Ramayan'

With Ranbir Kapoor's first look as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana generating massive buzz, many fans have turned nostalgic about Ramanand Sagar's iconic 1987 serial Ramayan.
For millions, Dipika Chikhlia remains the one and only Sita — a portrayal so deeply etched in public memory that she was revered as a living embodiment of the Goddess.
Speaking exclusively to Times of India TV, Dipika revealed that she was never approached for a role in the upcoming magnum opus. 'I was never approached. I guess they've not even bothered to speak to me about it,' she said.
She further explained her reluctance to be associated with Ramayana in any other capacity.
'Once I played Sita, I don't think I can play any other character in Ramayan. It's something I'm not sure about. If I was doing something in Mahabharat or Shiv Puran, I could still give it a thought, but not in a Ramayana film.'
Dipika Chikhlia's portrayal of Sita was graceful, restrained, and full of devotion — qualities that made her a national icon. Her screen presence and quiet strength struck a chord with viewers of all generations.

So powerful was her performance that she was often invited to religious events as Sita Maa herself.
Now, as Sai Pallavi steps into the revered role, comparisons are inevitable — but Dipika's legacy remains untouchable. Her role in Ramayan wasn't just acting; it was a spiritual connection shared by millions.
As Ranbir, Yash, and Sai Pallavi take center stage in the new adaptation, audiences can't help but revisit the original — a show where characters weren't just loved, they were worshipped. For Dipika, Sita was once in a lifetime — and always will be.

Why are Roblox players saying no to The Hatch? #BoycottTheHatch controversy explained

(Image via Roblox) The latest event of Roblox, The Hatch, designed as a massive Easter egg hunt, is facing significant player backlash. While this event was supposed to be fun, many believe Roblox did overlook some critical safety measures. Thousands from across the platform are actively ensuring to avoid their participation, using the hashtag #BoycottTheHatch. The protests stem from their deep-seated concerns about child safety on the platform. The core issue revolves around the initial inclusion of Roblox—a specifically and highly controversial content creator within its official event roster. Why are players rejecting the Roblox The Hatch event? The spark igniting Roblox's event boycott is a result of the decision that led to featuring a creator, popularly known as TheOfficialTeddy, in The Hatch event. Players were quick to point out the creator's history. They cited the development of some popular inappropriate content by this creator that was disguised as kid-friendly. All these experiences, while they are seemingly social hangouts, repeatedly accused the creator of facilitating inappropriate content. The players alleged that the creator's content contains romantic themes, animations used for some explicit roleplays, and dating simulations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Despite the creator's past bans, Teddy did remain a verified creator. His inclusion within The Hatch, a family-friendly event, was seen as a severe lapse in judgment by Roblox. Many even feel it gave priority to creator reach and profits, instead of user safety. #BoycottTheHatch movement is taking hold Despite the claims of Roblox to maintain a safer environment, players feel the platform ignored the creators' past violations. Many even argue that allowing such controversial figures to be involved in official events undermines trust, especially among younger players involved. The backlash has now grown so strong that some of the developers have started withdrawing their games from The Hatch event, in solidarity. Titles like Piggy, DOORs, and Pressure have pulled out. Their stand was not solely about Teddy, but it even signalled a broad dissatisfaction. The concerns are related to the event organization's quality and a lack of proper creator vetting. Such mass developer withdrawal has now amplified the impact of the boycott. Roblox's response to the #BoycottTheHatch movement After facing mounting pressure, Roblox initially stated that Teddy shouldn't have been invited, and they rescinded the Hatch invitation. The game further promised stricter vetting, but it has failed to quell the players' concerns. The developers, including MiniToon (Piggy), have expressed their feelings to be unheard. Just days before the launch of The Hatch, Roblox issued a substantial update. Following the investigation, they confirmed an uncorrectable, separate policy violation by Teddy. TheOfficialTeddy was consequently removed by Roblox, and all associated content from the platform was also removed. It emphasized safety to be foundational, but acknowledged investigations do take time. The Hatch launched amidst ongoing scrutiny Despite the removal of Teddy, The Hatch event launched on its schedule. The reception is now visibly divided and reflects on the heavily skewed dislike ratio of the official page. While the immediate target of the boycott was addressed, the movement highlighted some ongoing and larger anxieties. Players are now vigilant about the safety policies enforced by Roblox. They are questioning the consistency of the platform to protect young users from mature themes. The #BoycottTheHatch movement in these times, while achieving its primary goal, underscores the community that demands Roblox to ensure higher standards. With the legacy of Roblox, there's now increased pressure for rigorous and transparent safety measures, moving forward. For now, the debate still continues, and the community is watching very closely whether or not Roblox takes any action moving forward. Ramayana: Music titans AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer team up for a musical odyssey

It is a moment of creative confluence that one never imagined could exist. The East and West are meeting with gusto as Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman has joined forces with Hans Zimmer – Germany-born legendary composer known for seminal work in films such as The Lion King (1994), The Dark Knight (2008), Inception (2010), Interstellar (2014) and more recently two-part Dune (2021 and 2024) – for the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi starrer Ramayana, which is touted to be India's costliest film, with a staggering Rs 835 crore budget. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film, based on an age-old tale written by rishi Valmiki circa 7th century, will release on Diwali 2026, while the second part will come out a year later. Watch | Ramayana Teaser: Ranbir Kapoor's first look as Ram, Yash as Ravan in mythological epic; credits are a reminder of Game of Thrones The audience got a first glimpse of the film on July 3. If the vast and immersive strings and operatic vocals paired with bells, the drone of the tanpuras and a Hindi ditty layered on it all are anything to go by, then the soundtrack could be a sonic milestone. A selfie posted by AR Rahman with Hans Zimmer — likely from Los Angeles, where both composers have residences as well as music studios — initiated a lot of anticipation among people. Interestingly, Zimmer's presence in the film is expected to draw the West to the Indian epic tale that is largely unknown to them. With @HansZimmer #RamayanaMovie — (@arrahman) July 4, 2025 Rahman, who is familiar with Indian music as well as western, is likely to be a great conduit in bringing this collaboration together. 'It's a moment of disbelief… My aspiration is, with pride, how do we take our greatest culture, the greatest part of our history and share it with the world,' said producer Namit Malhotra at a promotional event for the movie on Thursday. It will also be interesting to see how the two composers will bring their distinct and very individualistic sounds to the table. Blending it could be tricky, but it can become a world-class cinematic event if the two mavericks manage to get on the same page for the most expensive film India has ever made.
