Three Doors Down singer Brad Arnold has announced he has stage 4 kidney cancer that has spread to his lungs — but says he has 'no fear.'
The rock band and Arnold, 46, posted a shared update on their Instagram accounts on May 7, announcing that he had 'some not so good news for you today. And, so, I've been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out.'
That's when the "Kryptonite" singer says he 'got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And that's stage 4, and that's not real good.'
Clear cell renal carcinoma gets its name from how the cancer cells appear under a microscope, the National Cancer Institute explains. It makes up about 80% of kidney cancer cases in adults. Treatment includes surgery, immunotherapy, and other targeted therapies like radiation.
The five-year survival rate for clear cell renal carcinoma is up to 69% when it's caught early, but as the NCI explains, once it's spread elsewhere, 'treatment is more difficult and the 5-year survival rate is about 10%.'
But as Arnold shared, he's relying on his faith to get through treatment. 'We serve a mighty God, and He can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all, but it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer and we're sorry for that.'
He ended with a plea for fans to 'lift me up in prayer every chance you get and like, it's time for me to go listen to 'Not My Time' a little bit, right?', a reference to the band's 2008 Billboard Top 20 hit, which includes the lyrics 'This could be the end of me / And everything I know / But it's not my time, I'm not going.'

'Thank you guys so much. God loves you. We love you,' he ended his post, which was flooded with well wishes from fellow musicians like Scott Stapp, who wrote, 'If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it's YOU brother.'
Chris Daughtry also commented, writing, 'Sending you love my brother🙏🏻🙏🏻💜💜'
And Jason Aldean wrote, "Man I hate to hear that Brad. Praying for ya brother. 🙏🏼"

Coldplay returns to the stage with a warning: ‘We're going to use our cameras'

Coldplay returned to the stage for the first time since a viral 'Kiss Cam' incident at one of their concerts made global headlines and prompted the resignation of a tech CEO. While the band did not directly acknowledge the controversy, frontman Chris Martin gave a tongue-in-cheek nod to the episode during their performance at Camp Randall Stadium in Wisconsin on Saturday, July 19. 'We'd like to say hello to some of you in the crowd,' Martin told the cheering audience during the now-infamous 'Jumbotron Song' portion of the concert, according to a clip shared on social media. 'How we're going to do that is we're going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen.' He added, 'So please, if you haven't done your makeup, do your makeup now.' The remark comes just days after a show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on Wednesday, July 1, where a couple's panicked reaction to being shown on the venue's Jumbotron ignited an online firestorm. The woman quickly turned away, and the man ducked out of view as the camera landed on them. 'Oh, look at these two! Oh what? Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy,' Martin said to the crowd at the time. The man was later identified as Andy Byron, then CEO of data company Astronomer. Byron resigned on Saturday, July 19, following days of Internet scrutiny and his placement on leave. Byron had served as CEO of the company since 2023. He has two children with his wife, educator Megan Kerrigan Byron. Astronomer, in a statement, cited the importance of leadership accountability and maintaining company values. The woman in the video, identified in some reports as Kristin Cabot, the firm's chief human resources officer, has reportedly also been placed on leave. While Coldplay has not issued a formal statement, the band's Instagram recap of the Madison show omitted any reference to the incident.

Last year, a clip from the Beckhams' Netflix documentary went viral after David Beckham was filmed chiding his wife Victoria to "be honest" after she claimed her family was working class despite her dad driving a Rolls-Royce. Now it appears she has gotten her own payback. On Sunday, the former Spice Girl, 51, shared a video on Instagram of David holding his head in his hands. "What have you done?" she asked, off-screen, while the former England football captain looked decidedly sheepish. Victoria then repeats her question, while already beginning to laugh. "You tried to give yourself a haircut. What have you done?" she asks. The 50-year-old former football reluctantly peeled his hand away from his head revealing a sizeable iron-shaped bald spot. "It's not funny," David protested, shaking his head as Victoria burst out laughing. "It does not look good," she added, before reminding her husband what he has told her about being "honest" in the past. "I'm going to always be honest with you, it looks terrible," she said. Proving he has a good sense of humor about his wife's ribbing, David later shared the clip on his own Instagram page, with a caption directed at Victoria. "You don't always need to BE THAT HONEST." Instagram The Beckhams' documentary, titled, Beckham, went on to win an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series in 2024. The director, Fisher Stevens, later said in an interview that he was "p***ed" with David for interrupting his interview with Victoria in that now-viral moment. Beckham editor Michael Harte agreed, saying what happened "totally flipped the scene on its head," but that it was "one of the most honest scenes" in the four-part special. "You get a true insight into their relationship and the way they interact," Harte said, but suggested the biggest challenge was where to include the "incredible" interaction. David previously spoke about the incident that became a viral meme to The Hollywood Reporter, confirming Stevens was "very angry with me over that."
