Nandamuri Balakrishna replacing Nagarjuna Akkineni as new host of Bigg Boss Season 9?
However, according to OTTPlay, the makers have renewed their contract with the Kuberaa actor. Nagarjuna has reportedly been paid a hefty amount to return as the host once again. He has been anchoring the show for the past six years.
Earlier, there were also reports that Vijay Deverakonda was in talks with the makers of Bigg Boss Telugu 9 to take on hosting duties. But those reports were never officially confirmed.
Bigg Boss Telugu first aired in 2017 and has completed eight seasons so far. Jr NTR hosted the inaugural season. Nani stepped in as the host for Season 2. From the third season onwards, Nagarjuna has been hosting the show. Seasons 2 and 6 included a mix of celebrities and common people as contestants.
Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9 is likely to begin in September 2025. A few months ago, 123Telugu reported that Babloo is the first confirmed contestant. Popularly known as Bumchick Babloo, he is an actor and comedian active in the Telugu entertainment scene.
He is known for his digital content, especially his comedy videos on YouTube and Instagram. His sketches and funny stories have earned him a large following online.
Interestingly, Babloo was earlier considered for a previous season of the show but did not make it to the final list. This time, however, the makers have locked his entry. His inclusion is expected to add a dose of humor to the upcoming season.
Reports also suggest that several other popular faces might be joining him. Their identities, however, are being kept a secret for now to maintain suspense before the premiere.

Review: ‘Uppu Kappurambu' finds the comedy in death and burial
In Chitti Jayapuram in Andhra Pradesh, the deceased are not cremated but buried in a designated corner of the village. The cause of death is carved on the tombstone. The practice stems from a centuries-old prophecy linking burial with protection against famine. Everything is going just fine until the gravedigger Chinni realises that the cemetery is running out of space. It's only the latest headache for newly chosen village leader Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh), who is struggling to establish her authority in the teeth of strident opposition from self-declared stud Madhu (Shatru) and aspiring headman Bheemayya (Babu Mohan). Apoorva rallies around, coming up with a sensible solution: why not cremate rather than bury? Her suggestion has a violent effect on listeners – one faints right away. She organises a lottery for the soon-to-be-dead, which is energetically compered by an entertainer dressed in shocking pink (Vishnu OI). Chinni (Suhas) hopes that his mother Kondamma (Rameswari Talluri) will be on the list. In Uppu Kappurambu (Salt and Camphor), death, disposal and tradition are taken very seriously, leading to hectic, often laugh-out-loud comedy. Ani IV Sasi's Telugu film has been premiered on Prime Video. Vasanth Maringanti's screenplay is knowingly hysterical and hyperbolic. The film's cartoonish, slapstick tone takes some getting used to, what with everybody in the village – leader or follower, notable or nobody – exhibiting capitalised eccentricity. Once the plot deepens, Sasi and Maringanti deliver an entertaining satire whose loud humour conceals more subtle ideas about ossified traditions, caste-based hierarchy and equality. Chinni's lowly status, the condescending attitude towards Apoorva on account of her gender, the insistence on following outdated beliefs, the petty politicking – Uppu Kappurambu smuggles in progressive messaging through manic activity centered on the graveyard. Apoorva and Chinni finds themselves isolated in a village where change is greeted with shock and unity proves to be fragile. The entire cast is in tune with the raucousness. While the main action revolves around the characters played by Keerthy Suresh, Suhas, Rameswari Talluri, Babu Mohan and Shatru, a minor army of supporting actors gamely portray Chitti Jayapuram's crackpot residents. Although carrying on for far too long, the 135-minute Uppu Kappurambu mines ample humour out of the sadness usually associated with death. Perhaps nobody has planned so much ahead of time or participated in the selection of a final resting spot so enthusiastically. Play

‘Uppu Kapurambu' movie review: Keerthy Suresh and Suhas anchor a partly-entertaining dramedy on life and death
It is a scenario straight out of the wildest dreams, or nightmares. An entire village, dressed in festive finery, gathers around a specially constructed stage. There is anticipation in the air, a celebratory mood. But the master of ceremonies (Vishnu Oi), a man summoned from a neighbouring town, is left stunned when he learns the purpose of the event: a lucky draw to determine who will win slots in the village burial ground, now perilously close to running out of space. Director Ani IV Sasi, who previously helmed the offbeat Telugu romance Ninnila Ninnila, returns with Uppu Kapurambu — a madcap satire that takes on the politics of death, land, and legacy. Screenwriter Vasanth Maringanti weaves in layered subtexts touching upon gender, caste, money, and power, exposing the absurdity of fighting over land meant for one's final rest. Now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, this eccentric comedy gets a major boost from a cast that includes Keerthy Suresh, Suhas, and veterans Babu Mohan and Talluri Rameswari. Set in the fictional village of Chitti Jayapuram in 1990s undivided Andhra Pradesh, the film creates a universe that feels both outlandish and uncannily believable. One early scene sets the stage following the death of a village head — his burial becomes less a solemn occasion and more a social gathering, complete with idle gossip, performative weeping and irreverent humour. His daughter, Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh), is reluctantly thrust into the spotlight as the heir to the post — a role passed down through generations. Things spiral when Chinna (Suhas), the caretaker of the village graveyard, discovers that burial space is rapidly running out. This simple logistical issue triggers a snowballing crisis of power, privilege, and pettiness. Apoorva, woefully inexperienced, fumbles through her newfound responsibilities. Her bungled attempts at diplomacy are laced with biting satire, particularly in a scene where she tries to deflect scrutiny by bringing up the Iran war and tomato prices in the same breath. Babu Mohan as a well-off, elderly aspirant for her position, and Shatru as a fiery young challenger, embody the absurd politicking that underpins this death-centric tale. Sasi and Maringanti craft a village that thrives on absurdity over logic, but after a point, the humour turns laboured. The whimsy that starts off fresh begins to feel overly exaggerated and even cartoonish in tone. Amid the chaos, it is Chinna and his mother (played by a grounded Talluri Rameswari) who emerge as the film's conscience. Years of working as the graveyard's caretakers has given them the wisdom about death being the great equaliser, or is it? After all, the elite still manage to secure premium burial plots and ornate headstones. As the film sprawls into multiple subplots, Uppu Kapurambu loses some of its sharpness. The 2-hour-14-minute runtime begins to drag, weighed down by gags and a wavering tone. However, the narrative regains some traction in its final act. The film ends on a poignant note, reflecting on how status and pride, often derived from power and wealth, can prove futile in the face of mortality. Apoorva's evolution into a village leader is conceptually compelling, but her arc lacks emotional heft. Keerthy Suresh gives it her best, yet the comedic beats written for her character rarely land. It's only in the final scenes, when she muses on the symbolism of the film's title, that she finds her footing. Suhas, ever dependable, brings nuance and relatability to Chinna. His performance, understated yet effective, carries the emotional weight that the film sometimes fumbles elsewhere.
