Italy launched a similar scheme back in 2017, with thousands relocating to idyllic Italian properties purchased for as little as 86p.
Declining population
Just 6,500 people currently live in Ambert, with locals hoping that the scheme will help to boost the population.
The town, which is famous for the Forme d'Ambert cheese, has revealed a five year plan to improve the number of residents, with 60 percent of properties left vacant in one suburb.
The wider scheme appears to have proven successful so far, as an extra class was added to the local school two years ago.
Two one euro homes are currently on the market, both of which need significant renovations doing to them.
Situated within a natural park
Those who choose to purchase the homes will find themselves living within the surroundings of the stunning Natural Regional Park of Livradois-Forez.
The natural park features rolling hills, deer, beautiful landscapes and plenty of quaint towns and villages to explore.
In Ambert itself, you can find the Museum of Cheese, dedicated to Fourme d'Ambert, a blue cheese which dates back to Roman times.
The town also has a paper mill, and a circular town hall called La Mairie.
Plus, residents bask in 300 days of sunshine a year.
I bought a one euro house in Italy - it now has its own spa and wine cellar...it's my dream home
Homes come with strict terms and conditions
Although the homes may seem like an absolute bargain, they come with their fair share of terms and conditions.
To start with, anyone looking for a second-home is prohibited from snapping up the one euro properties.
Plus, although the initial cost is extremely low, the two homes will be expensive to renovate.
Once the houses have been made habitable, the owners are required to live in them for at least three years.
Four cheap home renovation tricks
YOU don't have to spend loads to give a room a new look. Here are five other home renovation tricks you can try.
Kitchen cupboards
One way to give your kitchen a complete transformation for less is to change the look of the kitchen cupboards. There are loads of different vinyl coverings out there to choose from, and it's a quick and easy way to update your home.
Handles
Another thing you can try that won't break the bank is to change up the handles. You can pick up relatively cheap handles in DIY stores, or even in the charity shop. Adding new ones to your kitchen cupboards, or doors in your house, can be extremely effective.
Leftovers
Most of us have old half-used tins of paint in the garage, but they're often forgotten about. However, there may be enough in the pot to paint a feature wall in another room, and you won't have to spend a penny.
Freebies
It's worth checking your local Facebook Marketplace, or Freecycle, to see what other people are getting rid of. As they say, one person's trash is another person's treasure. And if someone's planning to revamp a room, they might want to get rid of a sofa, or a coffee table, which you could use to give a lounge a new look.
If they do not, hefty fines could be given out, including paying back any government grants given out for refurbishment.
If you're looking for a job once you've moved to Ambert, the town's historic chamber of commerce and industry building is currently undergoing renovations.
Once it reopens in 2026, it will bring lots of new jobs for locals.
You will of course, have to brush up on your French though.
One Brit who previously bought one of Italy's one euro home s, told how it hardly cost anything to renovate.
Another revealed that hundreds are now desperate to pay to rent his one euro home.

German, French leaders aim for clarity on fighter jet project by end of August, Berlin says

BERLIN, July 24 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed on Wednesday to try to resolve differences over the FCAS Franco-German-Spanish fighter jet project by the end of August, a German government spokesperson said. At a dinner on the outskirts of Berlin, the two leaders discussed the project, worth more than 100 billion euros ($117.73 billion), which has been dogged by delays and infighting over workshare and intellectual property rights. "The defence ministers were tasked with evaluating a realistic outlook for further cooperation within the FCAS consortium by the end of August and submitting proposals for resolving existing conflicts," said the German spokesperson. Dassault Aviation, Airbus, and Indra are involved in the scheme to start replacing French Rafale and German and Spanish Eurofighters with a fifth-generation fighter jet from 2040. The countries are at odds over the composition of the consortium. France has told Germany it wants a workshare of some 80% in FCAS, a defence industry source told Reuters this month. Germany expects Dassault to adhere to the existing agreements, the German spokesperson said. The talks between Merz and Macron also touched on European space policy, Ukraine, the Middle East, and trade talks with the United States, said the spokesperson. ($1 = 0.8494 euros)

Revealed: the gang bosses and money movers sanctioned over small boats

A company in China that sells small boats for Channel migrant crossings between France and the UK is among a list of organisations and individuals sanctioned by the UK. The Foreign Office has named and shamed 25 individuals and entities as part of the first wave of sanctions targeting key figures in the people smuggling gangs that have ferried more than 170,000 migrants to the UK in small boats since 2018. They will now face having any UK assets frozen and be banned from travelling to the UK, similar to how other sanction regimes work, such as those targeting Russian oligarchs. Individuals named on the list include Alen Basil, a former police translator who went on to lead a large people smuggling network in Serbia. He is accused of terrorising refugees with the aid of corrupt policemen. Basil was subsequently found to be living in a house in Serbia worth more than €1 million, bought with money extorted from countless desperate migrants. Another sanctioned is Bledar Lala, an Albanian who is in control of the 'Belgium operations' of an organised criminal group that smuggles migrants from Belgium across the Channel. Another is Muhammed Khadir Pirot, one of the 'middlemen' responsible for transferring cash paid by migrants through the ancient money transfer system known as hawala, which is used by people smugglers as a way of taking payments to minimise the risk of being caught. • What I saw at the Channel smuggler trial that exposed their tactics Two other individuals accused of operating hawala are Mariwan Jamal, who handles payments to people smugglers from migrants in Iraq, and Rafiq Shaqlaway, who is involved as an advisor to migrants looking to pay smugglers operating routes into Europe via Turkey. The Chinese company sanctioned, Weihai Yamar Outdoors Product Co, is accused by the Foreign Office of explicitly advertising small boats on an online marketplace for the purpose of people smuggling. Its website sells the same type of lightweight rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) that are used by people smugglers, in which migrants are packed and sent across the Channel from northern France to England. It offers a 'Just in Time' service that promises products to 'arrive or be replenished exactly when needed in the production process'. There are seven individuals on the sanctions list linked to Kurdish gangs, which dominate the people smuggling trade for cross-Channel migration. They include Goran Assad Jalal, who formed part of an organised crime group that stowed migrants in refrigerated lorries, crossing from France into the UK on at least ten occasions between January and March 2019, and Hemin Ali Salih, who also helped smuggle migrants into the UK in the backs of lorries. There is also Dedawan Dazey, a people smuggler who runs safe houses for migrants in Northern France before they are smuggled to the United Kingdom. Roman Ranyaye, an Iraqi people smuggler responsible for the smuggling of migrants from Asia to Europe, is also on the list. Azad Khoshnaw, Nuzad Khoshnaw and Nihad Mohsin Xoshnaw are named for equipping gangs in northern France with outboard motors, inflatable boats and other maritime equipment for use in people smuggling to the UK. Kazawi Gang, a people smuggling network that controls illegal migration routes from north Africa into the EU and is known to deal out harsh punishments to migrants who are unable to pay, has been sanctioned. So too has the Tetwani Gang, known as one of the Balkans' most violent people-smuggling gangs, members are reported to hold migrants for ransom and sexually abuse women unable to pay their fees. David Lammy, the foreign secretary, said it was a 'landmark moment in the government's work to tackle organised immigration crime [and] reduce irregular migration to the UK'. 'From Europe to Asia we are taking the fight to the people smugglers who enable irregular migration, targeting them wherever they are in the world and making them pay for their actions. 'My message to the gangs who callously risk vulnerable lives for profit is this: we know who you are, and we will work with our partners around the world to hold you to account.' • Trevor Phillips: Tackling the small boats crisis begins at home The measures aim to target organised crime gangs wherever they are in the world and disrupt their flow of cash, including freezing bank accounts, property and other assets, to hinder their activities. It will be illegal for UK businesses and banks to deal with anyone named on the list. The move follows legislation being introduced under the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill to ramp up enforcement powers for police forces and partners to investigate and prosecute people smugglers.
